anything interesting going on from wednesday night --> saturday night that i couldn't find on pollstar?
i see
wed: beach house / grizzly bear @ bowery
thurs: the broken west / the walkmen @ bowery
gomez / ben kweller @ webster
fri: clinic / holy fuck @ gramercy theatre
of montreal @ irving
sat: the horrors @ bowery
of montreal @ irving
lupe fiasco / the roots @ radio city
any tips on how to get tickets to these shows (most of which are sold out, in particular the walkmen) without going through assholes like the chicken-man?
-
hey, if you (or anyone else) are up in NYC and would like to meet for a beer, let me know.
-
I had planned to go up this weekend for the Of Montreal show... but I planned a little too late as tickets were sold out when I went to buy them, so it's off to wonderful falls church for me.
-
paul - hopefully you were more diligent in your VA planning than your NYC planning, 'cause Of Montreal is sold out at the State Theater, too.
did i mention that i'm looking for a ticket to that show? i am! anyone with a spare, please contact me. thanks!

The Horrors still available on ticketweb.com or cheaper on ebay

Gomez tickets will be very cheap outside Webster Hall, if not free! (2 nights not sold out)

yeah, the problem is that i don't really like gomez very much, although i do like ben kweller
walkmen is the show i want, and it seems like i can get tix for like $5 over face+charges on craigslist, not too bad

The Walkmen are awesome live. Have a nice time!

Wow, thought it would sell out, but also thought there might be a few tickets left at the door... luckily I bought 2 tickets last Thursday (sorry, don't have an extra)

well I'm living up here for a while. I'm not as much of a hipster as any of you, but I am capable of having a beer with others. So message me or something.

the walkmen were really fantastic, the broken west were as expected: great songs, so-so live performance ... my friend who hadn't heard the broken west before compared them to "summerteeth"-era wilco, and that seemed about right
you can really tell that the walkmen are growing into their skin ... i think they can aptly be compared to the strokes (they were lumped together during the early-aughts downtown NYC garage-rock explosion), and when you look at where both bands are at right now, i think you really have to hand it to the walkmen
sure, the walkmen aren't selling a million records, but they sound really mature, confident, and like their sound has actually evolved rather than just flat-lined
