Anyone else heard about this? There was a post on the Stooges MySpace page
-

and no, i havent heard of this.
-
MySpace Bulletin from Stooges Official:
DC PRESALE TOMORROW, MARCH 6 @ 10AM EST!!!
April 5th / Washington, D.C. / 9:30 Club
-
Whose presale?
-
Well shit I gotta get tix to this - no solid leads on where the pre-sale is taking place.
Definately looks like there's a 9:30 show on april 5 though.
-
Albert Hammond Jr. doors at 6pm and Iggy at 8pm? Sounds like a tight squeeze but one helluva night!
-

Is Al hitting the stage right at 6? even if he hits the stage at 6:30 i don't think that's enough time for him to play his set, empty out the club and then re-open it within an hour and half.
Late show, doors at 10
-
Junior's doors open at 6pm and Iggy's myspace lists his show as 8pm ... I'm just sayin'!
-
wa wa wee wa!

ah, generally when those calendars are listed 8pm is the default time.
but who knows.
-
I found it!
PM me :)
-
Totally missed the myspace bulletin, thanks for posting this.
-
What's going on with this pre-sale?? I don't see ANYTHING...
-
Got em! Thanks, Joe.
-
Thank you SOOOOO much! :)
-
Me too. Woot woot woot.
-
welcome. too bad it's will call only.
$40 ain't bad.
-
Did I ever tell you guys about the time I saw the Stooges at Bumbershoot? $18 for the whole days ticket. :D
-
WOO HOO!
Got 4. Thanks everyone....it's times like this I realise this board isn't totally useless after all.
-
Since the hardcore faithful seem to have got theirs already, there are still some available and that it's will call only, I think it's fair to post...

Where did you guys find out about the link? Stooges email??
-
I'll top Bumbershoot with seeing them at Randall's Island in Summer '04 with 30-40 other groups (Big Star, Bo Diddley, NY Dolls, Strokes etc etc) for $25 :D
-

Use the link I just posted but The Stooges have been posting updates on their Myspace page and are using another company to sell pre-sales to their shows.
-
Thanks Joe! Looks like we have a budding forum party in the works!
-
Picked up a pair (even though that new song 'Idea of Fun' is FUCKING TERRIBLE!)
-
I found a link to a newsgroup (alt.music.iggy-pop) and there was a guy that posted the link there. Looks like the link is now on the official site (it wasn't there last nite).

I was surprised to see them playing 9:30 Club... I was thinking that they could sell out DAR but maybe not??
-
Thank god it's not DAR. Saw the Ranall's Island show....this should be GREAT. Iggy is a machine, even after all these years and the band still rocks (and mike watt kills it on bass).
-
Just go to www.iggypop.com (http://www.iggypop.com) and look under "News". The link is there.
After I saw this post last night, I just googled "iggy stooges presale". It wasn't very hard to find.
-
This is EASILY the smallest venue of the tour which makes it even sweeter.
-
i'd donate money to a worthy cause to DJ this show :D
-
I don't know about you guys but i think it's really selfish of Iggy Pop and the 9:30 Club for not making this show a Cal Robbins benefit. All shows should be Cal Robbins benefits.
-

i would disagree, because if you stop and think about it, this would really create one of those proverbial "slippery slopes" ... i mean, can EVERY show be a Cal Robbins benefit show? where do you draw the line!?
thought provoking post, though, just probably won't be able to happen.
-
If all shows were Cal Robbins benefits than the scalpers would be put out of business!!
-
Based on recent pictures I've seen, I really hope Iggy keeps his shirt on during the show. And his pants...oh god, please let him keep his pants on.
-
I want Iggy to be FUCKING NUDE!
BRING IT!!!

Funny review (see the bottom of page if you dont wanna read everything)
Iggy Pop
@ Brixton Academy, London, 13 July 2002
A man leaps onto the stage at Brixton Academy without fanfare. Lights dim, the crowd screams and Iggy Pop is with us.
The first couple of songs are relatively new, from Mask and Beat 'Em Up to some contemporary ones I don't recognise. As it's a lunge into a more metal arena, with almost prog-rock guitar solos, power chords and much screaming, the crowd seem dubious and throw quizzical glances at each other.
Predictably, it's his return to the '80s classics that gives this audience a reason to scream, and surge and reach for this man of talent. Not to mention the primed body that just has no business on a man of his age.
Passenger and I Wanna Be Your Dog are both tight and heaving, Iggy diving from one end of the stage to another, his attention on everyone, his voice powerful, his feet lashing out and connecting with the heads of various security men around the pit.
After I Wanna Be Your Dog, Iggy throws himself into the crowd and like the rest of these demented fans I reach up for a piece and grab a hold of... HIS COCK!! It is large and I am afraid.
And the show continues in this vein (no pun intended)...

newsgroups - sooooo old school :)
nice work! if i'm in town that night, i'd be happy to host a pre-party.
-
Scalpers don't give a shit! ... they'll still scalp the tickets.
One of my top three all time favorite live shows ... Iggy Pop in Dublin around 1982 ... raw energy man!
-
But... But... reselling to a *Charity Show is morally wrong!

Wouldn't that be Raw Power? ;)
Sorry I couldn't resist...
-
I'm just glad Iggy is touring with something other than a bunch of hack LA studio musicians who happened to wander on to the tour bus, which seemed to be the case the last couple times I saw him in the Motor City in the mid 90s. I'm pretty sure there were a number of guitarist in the audience those nights that would have killed to be playing with him and probably done a better job. One show had the Demolition Dollrods as warm-up, who were able to join the tour reportedly thanks to a little "favor".
Missed out seeing him when Steve Jones was on board.. And one time he almost got upstaged by the warmup act Jane's Addiction which was pre-Lollapolooza and before Perry cut off the dreads.
-
Thanks so much for posting this! I just got my ticket. The last time I saw Iggy it was at Hammerjacks.
Yay.
-
Yeah,... I'm *INCREDIBLY* psyched about this show - esp. considering that it's at 9:30!! Dismemberment Plan fans get ready to be *pNwd
-
anybody hear that they're not doing raw power era songs? i know ron asheton wasn't in the band for that record and i'm fine if they don't play it. but still, i was really looking forward to search and destroy. :(
-
I'm under the impression that they're playing songs from ALL their albums... I just hope they forget to play stuff from that shitty new one
-
Thank you, ladies & gentlemen. I've wanted to see The Stooges forever. I've heard from many people that their shows are nothing short of legendary. Is this true???? (I'm expecting this to be one of the 5 or 10 best shows I've ever seen-seen more than a few, so let me know if my expectations are too high.)

Their set at Randall's Island was easily the best show of 2004 for me, trust me it'll be worth every penny.

What's the capacity of the 9:30 Club?

They're not sold out tell them to keep trying.
-
This show is NOT YET SOLD OUT!
-
Iggy is gonna RULE!! i'm totally smoking at this show!! YEAH!!!!
-
definitely NOT sold out--just bought myself a ticket. :D
-
Awesome...this is going to be a great night. I still consider that Iggy Pop show at the 9:30 a few years ago to be one of my favorite shows ever. My ears rang for WEEKS!
-
Hey - Can someone post a recent setlist?
-
interesting... at 10:10, i can assure you that we were unable to pull any tickets - we both kept getting a message to the effect that "the number of tickets you are seeking are not available - please try a lower number of tickets", even when trying to pull just one ticket. but now they're available again, much to the satisfaction of my workmate. woohoo, and thanks for the heads-up :)
-
Fuck the setlist...just go for the scene, man!
-
As long as he does Candy with Kate Pierson, I'm satisfied.

'The Scene?'
A bunch of middle class DC yuppies standing around with blank looks on their faces like a dog that has just been shown a card trick?
DC really doesn't have much of a scene. I picture a crowd similar to the one at that gay Doors reunion show..
PS. New STOOGES CD SUCKKKKS
-
thanks for that, grumpy gus!

What gets me is that a few years ago (before I knew what game he was in) I sodl him a pair of tix to a sold out show at face value. Fool me once...
-
<img src="http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g16/beetsnotbeats/count20black20dots-738665.jpg" alt=" - " />
Free tix! Just count the black dots and win!
-
Mason Jennings is listed as opening for this one. Does that seem odd to anyone else?
-
If anyone wants to check out Mason Jennings, CD Cellar in Clarendon has several CDs in their $1.99 bin. Personally I was hoping there wouldn't be any opener...
-
Just noticed that Mason Jennings is opening for the Stooges. That's a bit of an odd pairing.
-
very odd!

Has anyone formed an opinion of The Weirdness yet? I listened to half of it yesterday. I've read some reviews negative reviews. I didn't find it that bad. One the first listen it sounded like it could have come out a few years after Raw Power, not 30.
-
Hey - I picked up 'The Weirdness' last Tues. Piece-of-Shit album. Crap lyrics, boring production - complete gargabe. BUT - If this is what it takes to get them back on the road (and into the 9:30 Club) then fuck it - Bring It On! But yeah, terrible, terrible album..
-
The show is next week! :D This is going to be amazing. Oh and Mason Jennings is no longer opening. Now we get Sistas in the Pit and The High Class Elite. That's gonna be a long 2 hour wait until the Stooges hit the stage. Hopefully the sistas can shake things up a bit because that high class elite band is awful.
-
Im so there, screwed up knee and all. It may just be time for me to hang up the skates. Broken arm 3 years ago playing hockey and now a knee bunged up so badly I can hardly stand let alone walk. Oh well I'll find some place to hang at this show no matter what!
