Don't be so sure of those times yet Fico, I've heard that dc9 mentioned some different times to the Clov, but that they are working it out. Certainly seems like it will be later. Best check with Clovette to verify.

Right then, still better to have the punters get in early than late...

BTW, Cartel has been selected as one of the latest Editor's Pick's on the Washington Post website. The Post says, "With a slightly avant-garde sound and creative production, Cartel offers a refreshing new look at music." Check out the actual link here.

Does anyone else have the Stone Roses DVD???
I've been in heaven ever since I got it.. anyone here in the board ever see them live??? them and the Smiths...the ones that got away...
-
So I was at CD Game Exchange, and they gave me a free 8 song Exit Clov sampler which turns out to only have four songs on it (though there are 8 song names printed on the little cover thingy).
I saw a copy of the sampler that Redsock gave away at the board Xmas gathering last year, now sellling for 25 cents. To me, this is more heinous than somebody reselling their Pixies ticket. Shame on whoever it is trying to capitalize on Redsock's generosity.
Anyway, after listening to the first two songs, my wife proclaimed that Exit Clov sounds a bit like Nellie McKay...which seemingly is a compliment.
And Fico, you missed the Stone Tossers and the Smiths because you were probably into mainstream crap like Foreigner or Foghat back in the 80's. :)
-
Just one song reminded me of one of her dancy-er tracks...
I think Exit Clov has a nice sound, they are interesting and not typical, but I couldn't listen to their music, like, for a really super long time...

Well I never...!!!
They actually gave you a copy of the CD, it wasn't like, tossed in a corner or anything?
-
And you know folks, how often is it you get to go to a show to support not one, but two board members? Seems to me this is worth going to, both for the quality of the bands, and cause you can give props to your Fico and Clovette, by default me. Just an FYI...

nothing like two asian girls to put me in the mood

They were front and center, nicely displayed at the register. When I looked at it inquisitively, the cashier said, "Take one, it's a freebie. Think they're playing (looking at the attached flier thing) tomorrow night."

Wrong you are my pedigree chum...I was only 10yrs old during the Smith's heyday, 13 during the Roses heyday...and I was also living in the Caribbean where they would never visit...

I have a birthday dinner to-do, but may head over to DC9 after with a friend in from L.A. if he's game. He's about to move back to DC, after 5 or 6 years, and will be blown away by U street, Logan Circle, etc.

The question is, when at the door...are you coming to see Cartel or Exit Clov?? DC9 may have to install a split policy tonight :)

God bless gentrification!

I think she knows that Fico, she was just referring to hte door policy tere...calm down chief...
-
Sorry for the scare -- redsock's right. The lounge is the first place I ever encountered the front door interrogation on which band you're there to see.
-
Why do they do that anyway?
-
I'm going to guess that bands get a percentage of the door.

Did you ever get a better idea of what times the bands are going to play?

SHould be a fan-fookin-tastic night of local rock!

Huge thanks to Lulu, Markie, Pollard and anyone else who showed up to our gig on friday.
bigger thanks for snatching a copy of our EPs!
now lets try and keep Lulu away from Carl Barat who will be at DC9 after the Libertines show...
-
Isn't Carl Barat about as tall as Michael J. Fox?

Add the drummer from Exit Clov to the list of band members Markie should be worried about. Though he is quite a bit younger than you Lulu.

I don't think Exit Clov's drummer had the squifiness in his hair necessary to lure Lulu away from Moz kissing Markie...
-
