This morning while i walked to work I was listening to Marquee Moon by Television. It made me happy. What makes you happy?
-
That's a good one to listen to! I've got Smokey Robinson's Mickey's Monkey and Toots and the Maytals Pressure Drop to pick me up. Those two songs work everytime.
Let's see, what else. Last night I had some good falafel that I made. That made me happy.

My 2 1/2 year old daughter loves that movie. I just got it for her a few weeks ago. She's watched it like a million times. It cracks me up to watch her sing and dance along with it. Especially the "So long! Farewell!" song. She calls it the good night song. In fact, she calls the movie the "good night movie". That makes me happy.

I like listening to an album that's fallen off my radar for a while, but gives me chills when I listen again, love it again and remember times associated with it. [Recent examples -- Tears for Fears, "The Hurting" and The Judybats, "Pain Makes You Beautiful"]

I am glad it worked.....
It sure looks purdy. Now all you need is to cop some fixie attitude.

I've got to work on my trackstands first.

Oh, they're easy. Roll to a stop with your strong foot forward, cranks around horizontal. then turn your front wheel in the direction of your stronger foot by about 30 degrees. Then imagine making a tripod with you wheels and the one point you dont have which is the side of your strong foot.
Its easier practicing on a slight uphill incline.

Now if we only could convince Mark about the power of one gear...

So, are you going to post a photo, or do we get to just sit here guessing?
I'm still holding out trying to find a surly steamroller in the original boston baked bean color. in the meantime, i'll just try not to shift/break :p

If you see an Electric Plum Diamond Back with track ends and no brakes in Adams Morgan, then it's mine.
I'll post a photo soon enough. I just have to take one first.

Thirsty's mean plum machine is cool and it weighs next to nothing without gears and brakes. But when it comes to mountain biking I am never going to give up the gears. I just wouldnt seem right to me.
You are worse than a born again Christian, trying to push your single speed religion. ;)

I'm only trying to help you Mark, although I freely admit I am an evangelist!
If the rain holds out I'm hoping we'll hit the trail tomorrow. I'm popping in after work to check the conditions. Stay tuned.

The problem is that they don't make the brown any more-- if I ordered one of these it would come in grey. Bleh.

Does it really matter what colour it is? Girls are weird.
As for trails, Sailor Ripley, It has rained every day now for the last three days in College Park and or DC. You really think the trails might be good? I know your an optimist but.......
-
I asked him if he wanted to ride my bike because he helped me out big time, he said sure. Later on that evening he approached me with his head down, shuffled a bit, looked over both his shoulders and asked... "Hey, uhhh, can I ride your bike again?"

I just wanted to get your sprocket well seated! ;)
Remember after my ride, I got you to hammer the lockring in some more?

i'm getting confused... sounds like half of us are roadies and half are trail-types. is that right?
i'm a roadie. usually.
by the way, fellow bikey types, don't forget critical mass, first friday of the month at 6pm, dupont circle. that would be this friday in fact. i'll be there if i don't get cure tix.

Last it rained at Avalon was Sunday afternoon, so we might be able to pull together a loop if things continue to hold out.
BTW, I think that may be the first time anyone has ever called me an optimist!

First question is: Do you want a time trial bike?
Second question is: Do you want a Softride? (They are very unique)
Unless you are a serious racer, this probably isn't the bike for you.
-
i'd say okay deal, but nothing spectacular. if you hold out till after the summer, you can easily get a 105 bike new for this price... it would be hard to get a new ultegra setup at that price though.
the other thing is the guy prolly built it himself (herself?) because of the mix of 105 and ultegra. it's tough to trust a custom without seeing it.

I'm just a cyclist. Spend most of my time on the trail, but plenty on the asphault.

yikes! I just googled it - yes, VERY unique
-
I'm neither - just a hard core commuter - in the very distant future, when the wee one stops monopolizing all my leisure time I'd like to do some road biking

Anyone have experience with the Nitto moustache handlebars?

Run them on my fixed gear. Love 'em.
-
Lets see, I am a mountain biker. Although someplace far away I have a well used road bike.
I dont like softrides because I would always be scared of twatting my nuts o the suspension beam holding the saddle. Plus I dont like the distance between my saddle and bottom bracket to change.
That is not a great deal anyhow, for that kind of money you could get a well equipped new road bike or something cool off of ebay.

Finding a seat on a near empty Metro train! This morning's walk to the Metro was a plus due to the great weather.

It was totally sweet. I get on and sit down next to this hottie girl and then I spot an open double seater. I'm all like PEACE! I'm out. She looked like she took it personal, so I says, don't hate the playa, hate the game.
