I'm trying to get an anniversary gift for a couple I know who are big steak eaters. Being vegetarian, I'm not up on my steakhouses, but I hear someplace called Fleming's is good, and we just got one in Richmond a while back. Assuming there's one in the DC metro area, have any of you all eaten there? What would dinner for two run? Worth the money?

best steak places in d.c.. . .i'd say capitol grille, district chophouse, ray's the steaks. . or, you could always do ruth chris or morton's.

There's one in downtown Baltimore and I've eaten there. The food is great and there's a wide selection of wines (if your friends like that). It is relatively pricey though. Assuming they get steaks, drinks, etc., a dinner for 2 will probably run about $125 with tip.

I appreciate that, but I wasn't clear in my original post - these people are in Richmond.

Is that better then a Fleming's? We have one of these as well. Same price range?

sorry, i didn't realize you were looking for richmond suggestions. as for morton's. . it's a stuffy, typical steakhouse, large juicy steaks, and a la carte sides. if they went hog wild on the steaks, then i could see a dinner for two (with apps, but without wine) to be around $125-150 total or so.
i've never been to fleming's.

In Richmond.....Morton's or Ruth's Chris should be the ticket.......IMO this is the best steak house in D.C.,but quite pricey and jacket & tie required.....http://www.theprimerib.com/index.html

Longhorn.

We had a $50 gift certificate to Morton's. Though we're veggies, we decided to go there and spend it on side dishes. Turned out to not be a good idea.
