That's right folks. I have been told that Team Cooper will be spinning this Thursday night at Gate 54, to warmup for the terribly exciting Curiosa gig Friday.
Kurosawa and I will be there...
-
Hmmmm...awfully tempting, if I can get my sh*t together for an extremely chockfull weekend...
-
Any idea about when the spinning begins?
Hey, speaking of, where the hell's Mankie? Must be on Vay-Kay.
-
How can that many gorgeous people fit into such the small room that Gate 54 is?!
The Cooper Temple Clause = luscious (though sadly, I am not a fan of their music and I already have Thursday plans). :p
Cheers
DJ Medusa.

Come on, you all. Let's get the Curiosa party started tomorrow night! Having heard the band DJ in Toronto, I can say that they play quite an eclectic (and good) mix.

what kind of stuff do they play? they arent playing techno are they? hehe. do they do remixes and stuff or just play songs?
i cant make it tomorrow night, but i would love to :(

I believe they're due up around 11-ish. Their set in Toronto was brilliant (but brief). They play a bit of everything, but it was all stuff you could cut a rug to.
Definitely a perfect way to spend a Thursday night.

I'm going to try to stop by for at least a while...I've got many errands, though, before the Curiosa and the big Orioles/Robin Zander day.

It was a fun night. (Thanks to Megs for telling us about it!) The music was terrific for the duration. The band members traded off and were spinning for 3 hours. I, of course, was revelling in seeing the Coopers again. THEN the guys from Muse walked in. (Yes, Matt Bellamy really is tiny.) Poorlulu (thanks so much for coming!) and I gasped and I said that I would love it if the Interpol boys walked in. Then...they did. We were at the official pre-Curiosa party! Near the end, the music was so good that Poorlulu and I started dancing. :) All of the guys (in the bands) really are very friendly and approachable. Ben of the Coopers said that the tour has been an amazing experience.
See you at Merriweather today!

i am jealous, that sounds like a damn fun night. I would like to meet Matt Bellamy. i find it odd that rock stars (oh, and he is SUCH a rock star) are younger than i am now!!! yikes.,

o what a night! it was much fun to close the place down with the coopers. kurosawa and poorlulu, it was lovely as ever. it was indeed like we were at the pre-curiosa party. i think at one point the ratio of regular people to band members was only 2 to 1. they played some excellent stuff, i was particularly fond of kieran's sets. and ben played primal scream, which will always put a smile on my face. i can't remember if kurosawa mentioned, but melissa auf der maur (sorry for any spelling errors) was at the party too. and a big thanks to my friends laura and tom at bmg for arranging the whole thing!

That doesn't top the time I met my main man Steve Doocey at the Auto Show when I was 9. Channel 4 News back in the day was off the chain. Doreen Gentzler, Jim Vance, and some Steve Doocey laying down his commentary. That was a line-up.
-
Sounds f'ing brilliant. Though I would have LOVED to be there, I'm a tad glad I didn't go because it would have been very hard to tear myself away mid-party, and I would have had to....
:(
Thank frickin' god is wasn't Sloan... ;)

Did he really use the word "amazing" or are you putting words in his mouth?

"The first time I met Doreen, she was barely seventee, she was drinking whiskey sours at the bar. Oh, the way she tossed em back, I woulda had a heart attack..."

Are you saying the Coopers are irregular, or are you saying they just don't have very many fans?

The regular people to band member ratio would have been 1:4, if we can count Bags as "regular".

i just meant that by the end of the night the crowd had diminished, and we were surrounded by band members. not a slight against the ctc or anyone else. i just don't think many people knew about the dj thing, otherwise i'm sure there would have been loads more people.
-
thanks!! you can stop talking about it now!!!
just kidding, i really dont ever care about meeting bands but that sounds pretty nifty. meeting bands in that kind of environment...

was doocey wearing one of his hawaiian shirts?
-
I'm glad someone else here recognizes El Doocey. Maybe you all thought that I forgot Susan Kidd. Indeed, I did not! She has certainly earned her place at the newsdesk and in the hearts of the public.

Steve Doocy was the commencement speaker at my high school back in the day. At the time, it seemed like a very odd choice.
