Iron Butterfly's guitarist, proving once again that drugs are bad.
-
So he was like 17 when In-a-Gadda-da-Vida was released?

yep. I wish I was that cool.

He joined Iron Butterfly when he was 16 and toured with the heavy metal band from 1967 to 1969, when the group was enjoying its greatest success.

I will miss him more than Bob Hope....
....but that's because I'd prefer to listen to an Iron Butterfly record, which I like, than watch any Bob Hope shows, which I've never liked.
If I offended anyone, I'm sorry, but it's the truth.

has anyone found him funny in the last 30 years?
-
4 (or 5, if you count Pollard).
Never thought he was funny, even as a wee girl with a less sophisticated wit.

Not me or Jag...or walkman. (who better be prepared to change his mind if Paige likes him)

What, you turn your back on Brit comedians?
From the NY Times...
The comedian, whose original name was Leslie Townes Hope, was born on May 29, 1903, in Eltham, England, the fifth of seven sons of William Henry (Harry) Hope, a stonemason with a weakness for drink. In reference to his famous profile, dominated by his ski-jump nose, Mr. Hope once commented that after his birth, "My mother thought the doctor had left the stork and taken the baby."

The Private Navy of Sgt. O'Farrell (http://www.allmovie.com/cg/avg.dll?p=avg&sql=A106745) was pretty good, for a b-movie. He was quite okay in Spies Like US. And unlike Erik Braunn he went to Viet Nam.
