Title: Rosa Parks
Post by: RatBastard on October 25, 2005, 03:28:00 am
Im have no idea in hell how any of the rest of you feel, but Rosa had a lot more dignity, courage, and character than most people could dream of having.  RIP Rosa.  You much more than earned it.

One of the first things I did when I arrived to North Carolina a few years ago was to visit the place where the Greensboro sit-ins took place. lots of respect for those people in the South in the fifties and sixties.

she was almost evicted and made homeless a year or two ago. then her landlord let her live rent-free the rest of her life.

You can go visit one of the sit in lunch counters at the Smithsonian.  They took the counter and stools and set them up there.

You of course CAN NOT sit on it   :)

That's probably because Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton woulda started ranting and raving crying racism.

CURIOUSLY, None of the Rosa Parks death accounts I've seen so far have mentioned the fact that this beacon of black pride was brutally beaten by a young African-American during an invasion robbery of her home a few years back ... sounds like a newsworthy, as well as meaningful, event to me.

It was years ago when it happened, it's virtually irrelevant now.

When George W. Bush dies 30 some years from now, would you expect the news story to include his DUI arrest?

obviously not, because racism no longer exists and blacks are pouting over nothing when they say it does.

Just wondering....if no whiteys are involved, is it still considered a hate crime, because evidently only the white population are racists so I'm still trying to figure this one out!

Full story from the bbc website.

Here you go....I knew they'd find a way to blame old whitey for it.

not to undercut anything rosa parks worked for, but unfortunately north carolina remains the most racially charged state i have lived in.  i guess the issues just dont persist up north like they do down here.
