I just don't see it, additionally I hate Elijah Wood, I say boo-urns.
-
i never liked that guy
elijah woods that is.
-
Or the bigger question...why are they making a movie about Iggy Pop?
I'm a fan and all, but he's hardly blockbuster movie material is he?
-
a horrible choice... why not gary oldham he already was sid.
and why are they doing a biopic for someone still alive? this isn't for that sex pistols movie they are doing is it...
-
-
Frodo rules! Who the fuck is Iggy Pop anyway?
-
I like Elijah Wood, but I can't see him as Iggy... He just seems too small in stature.
-
iggy pop was the hilight of coffee and cigarettes, why not play himself?
elijah wood? hes going to have to loose 50lbs to make it believable
-
Iggy Pop- 5'7 1/2"
Elijah Wood 5'6"

Gary Oldman (not Oldham) is too old, too British, and not Jewish.

yeah, he's horrible at fitting himself into a role and playing characters that are very different than himself

you're mistaken, hobbits are not 5'6"
-
Iggy's done a little acting (The Color of Money, Dead Man, Snow Day), so why doesn't he play himself?
-
What about Jonathan Rhys-Meyers?

they would do better finding a relatively unknown garage band singer with some acting chops...

As much as I love Gary Oldham, I fully agree on the too old part at this stage. He's good enough to get past the Britishness. Didn't know Iggy was Jewish; not that I care one way or the other.
Actually, it really depends on what side of life they choose to feature within the film. I would assume that they will spend a lot of time exploring Iggy's earlier days and how he became a Rock star. Therein, you need a younger actor.
Wonder if they'll have to hire a stunt man for some of Iggy's stage antics?
I just don't see it at all using Elijah. I have no ill feelings towards the guy at all but he is just so wrong for the part. Then again, they could have gone with Frankie Munuz. All is not right in Hollywood.
-
The thing is I totally think Mike Myers will be the perfect Keith Moon...
Still can't believe that anyone could think Elijah Wood would work in that part. Even Leonard DiCapro or Jake Darko would be suited for that part...
-
I'm as skeptical on this as I am on Joaquin Phoenix playing Johnny Cash.

The buzz I've heard on this is that he does a great job.

this picture of a young iggy was posted elsewhere and while there is some resemblence i still don't see elijah being able to pull off the a credible onstage iggy performance.

I certainly hope so...but those are some HUGE shoes to attempt to fill...

No way Elija's hung like Iggy....
-
truly painful.

Is Elijah Wood really going to play Iggy? I thought you guys were just fucking around as usual. That's just wrong!
As for Iggy Pop, he's been rediscovered by baby boomers anxious to prove they were actually cool in their youth, much the way most of the people at 80s dance nights were listening to Huey Lewis rather than anything remotely interesting back in the day.
Ok, enough negativity from me!
