So, my girlfriend's band, Exit Clov, is playing a show @ Staccato lounge on Saturday August 30th. Now, this is the first show for the "new and improved" band, and their new sound is still developing, but I like it a lot, and not just cause it's my girlfriends band. I think some of you will like it a lot too, since so many of the bands that influnce them are among your favorites. Staccato is not a great venu, and is not that big, but they need to drum up some support from non-friends. You can check out some of their stuff at www.exitclov.com. (http://www.exitclov.com.) I'm not sure how to characterize their sound...any thoughts?
I'm curious to see if it appeals to you folks. It's new and its raw, but they are gonna make a big move this fall I think (hope), and shake off the demon cloud of the Arlington music scene and beceome a "real" DC band. Anyway, check em out, lemme know what you think, and if you like, please come to the show! Enjoy...

Since they are twin sisters, they would be doing much more than the tatu thing. But thankfully no, they do not do anything like tatu. Shame on you for even suggesting that.
If i told you they did would you come to the show?

Do you have any ideas as to similiar sounding bands? Trying to describe their sound is tough.

pretty good songs....they sound like Lush a little bit....very tuneful....
what time will they play on the 30th?

They are headlining...so I'm told that means they go on around 11:30 or 12:00. so if you are going to the Live on Penn show, you'll have plenty of time to get there. And since nothing else is going on musically that night...it's an easy decision.

seriously folks, can anyone give me a aband with a sound that compares...not sure Lush quite fits, maybe earlier Lush...they are in the process of getting all their relevant press kit stuff together and have been trying to find some good descriptions of their sound. I realize there are only a few songs to use as samples...but thoughts?

i'm no expert on close harmony duos, and had to dip into kosmette's cd collection for this one, but the nields came to mind as well as the obvious simon and garfinkel.

Yeah, i think they are trying to run run far away from the folk aspect. Trying more rock in their roll, so to speak. But the harmonies do evoke S+G obviously.

i don't know how they are going to shake a folk rock tag... the nields from my limited exposure rock as much as they folk. maybe they could be rock for folks or rock n folk ;)

Having been to some of the local folk happenings around here with them, its not pretty. I'm sure they're some great muscicians, but its pretty plain stuff. I think the girls new stuff is much more rockish...hopefully a trend. And the new guys in the band are not folk at all...

Link to Staccato, which sounds lovely. I'd love to catch it (only downside being Labor Day weekend). If I'm in town, hope to catch it. Redsock, you should post a reminder a couple days before the show.
