I have listened to the Music's CD like a LOT of times, and I have to ask the burning question...WHO did this before?????? a lot of people are saying that these guys are rip off's of this and that. And this CD seems so genuine to me, that i just have to know who did this before.
Now, before i get flamed and jerked around like i was 18, i just want to say that I do own over 1000 CDs and i have been going to shows collecting music for 12 years, so its not like i came right off the Blink 187 bus.

I know they are like the Stone Roses, but SR never got that hard and fast. They are like old Jane's Addiction, but they never got that techy (see Getaway).

The fact is, i havent heard everything thats come out, and if there is something that is instrumental like this, with a voice like this guys, and the ability to rock out hard like shit, but die off and hum like certain songs on the disc...I WANT IT!!!

thats amazing!!!
i have been hearing such the opposite. i have heard the CD smacked around and people saying to just scrap the CD and buy a ticket to see em live.
strange...........

I think Wingelbert is referring to The Music, which put out several EPs before their album dropped. I got an import version of You Might As Well Try and Fuck Me and thought it was great. And then Take The Long Road and Walk It, and thought it was great. And then The People and though, hmmm, kind of a pattern here. And I've heard their album, and it's so samey that it kind of loses their power. That said, I've heard their live shows are great, and I'll go to this just to see that.
The Vines are almost the opposite. I think their disc is pretty good. It sounds pretty when it needs to be, rocks when it should rock, and comes and goes pretty quick. Live though, they're a mess. That last 9:30 show, I thought, was subpar, and the bootlegs I have of them are pretty crappy.
-
The live show sucked!!!!!!!! and i dont usually say that about live shows, he was just being an idiot and trying to hard to impress everyone. It just seemed to much like an act and not his instincts. We left before the encore it was that bad!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
When are these tickets becoming available?? price??

This is before Craig decided not to play the right chords and sing the right words, before he decided to wreck his instruments and just spazz out during performances. They weren't bad, when I heard their debut I was disappointed. Nothing new, sounded like everything else NME had hyped in the past six months. I have a friend who's a big fan of The Music, but I haven't gotten around to listening to them yet, I'm trying to stay away from anything NME has loved in the past six months that starts with "the."

The vines are an OK band, good but not special in any way, that were massively overhyped and therefore massively disappointing.

was anyone else here at the vines show in...was it july? i have to say i was completely unimpressed. i liked the album but their live show leaves a lot to be desired. that being said, i'll probably be there for this one, but largely to see the music.

I won't be at their show. The July show was criminally boring and fake, right down to the scripted ending where the singer went apeshit on stage at the end of the set, a la Kurt Kobain, 1991.
There are a million bar bands all over America that are better than the Vines.

Actually, now that I have put it like that, I can believe it.

I may go for the Music. Not that I like the music, but I never got to see the stone roses. So I would like to go and see a stone roses tribute band to relive my not mis-spent youth, if you know what I mean?

OK!!! Since i started the post, i will clarify, since i have been at work.
I was NOT talking about the Vines!!!!
THE MUSIC!! not the damn Vines. I dont give two shits about the Vines.
But lots of people say the Music is like this and the Music is like that. (no, the Verve is NOT like the music!!!) I will be happy that there is a good band out with some energy and some (believe it or not) originality (at least compared to new music today!)
and i dont read NME either and i dont listen to hype...........or unhype!

The Vines sucked the proverbial balls last time they graced the 9:30 stage. I wouldn't trust any band that tours with them. If its early in the tour maybe the poisonous effects won't have sunk in yet, but no matter how good the Music is, I'd have to imagine touring with the Vines will bring them down.

The Music are enjoyable because they are combining stuff from the great bands of the past, not becuase they sound just like any of them. The heavy riffs of Zeppelin, and the dance rock posturings of the Stone Roses are the most obvious influences. and yeah, the lead singer does have a bit of a high pitched Geddy Lee thing goin' on, now that you mention it.

I really like the vines, but i believe all the people that say they suck live. i'm going to go see them anyway... and i am really excited. The only reason the music is touring with the vines is because they both record with Capitol. That's also why they toured for a little with Cold play.
