So, they were concidered a four piece band, 3 on stage and their sound guy who did lots of effects and manipulations to their sound. Is that what is happening on this tour?
-
According to Pitchfork today, in earlier shows Martin Swope was not there and Bob Weston of Shellac was doing tape loops.

I'm pretty sure that is what they're doing this tour, but I'm not really sure.
all I know is, is that that band the oxes that's opening for M.O.B, is that when they opened for Isis, a friend of mine got on stage during the Oxes set and played a beer bottle with a dildo, or maybe he played a dildo with a beer bottle, either way makes for a good story. go Isis

I'm looking forward to this show. The blurb in the City Paper says Bob Weston will fill in for Swope.

*THWACK* The sound of me kicking myself, because I'm unable to attend.

So does he just do the tapes or mix the whole band?

You could tell that MOB was truly having a blast playing live again. You would never have guessed that they haven't done this in 20 years -- they were tight.
The Oxes did a pretty bad Nirvana cover -- which was the highlight of their set.
Tone(?) had 4 guitarists and 2 drummers. It was pretty cool at first, but after about 10-15 minutes, it kinda got monotonous.
I thought they came out of the gate kicking with Peking Spring. I am impressed that Roger Miller can play with all the ear protection and low sound levels he had going.

But watching them, you're right, they looked a little wary and uncomfortable. But the upside was that when they were hitting it, you also saw some genuine glee on their faces.

A question about Friday night for the staph - Why were people being patted down as they entered? I can't recall ever seeing that at the club before.

-
What the hell would clear channel be mandating in our club? They got nothing to do with us. Everyone is supposed to undergo scrutiny on the way into the club. Some things we hold at the door (mace, cameras/recording devices, pocket knives etc...) some things we confiscate (alcohol, drugs etc...). So I am sorry to hear that is the first time you have been checked at the front door...I guess the guys are done slacking.
