Kind of a cartoon, but will admit to enjoying their concert a few years ago...great atmoshpere if you're not a homophobe...and you know who you are! ;)
-
I thought much like Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Culture club were mainly closeted heterosexuals.
On the music, didn't like it from the beginning, still can not stand it.

Be honest...whenever you hear it you can't help yourself from singing, "bum, bum...do you really want to hurt me, do you really want to make me cry" OR "I'll tumble for ya,I'll tumble for ya, I'll tumble for yoooooou"

Let me get this straight (no pun intended),
You sing along to Culture Club...
You use moisturizer...
You giggle uncontrollably when you see someone that looks like Morrissey...
Are you sure you're not gay?

Not gay, and I wouldn't be interested in you even if I was, sorry. :(

When those lines went through my head, I almost puked just now. Be glad because I would have given you the bill.

No, we've already determined that Mankie is one of those sexy metrosexuals. :D

You should see a doctor, that could be serious, really. I mean, nobody pukes at hearing words...could be an inner-ear imbalance I suppose. Maybe GGW could let us know because he knows fucking everything.

Could be some variation of PTSD. Culture Club lyrics serve as an environmental cue that causes the listener to revisit some repressed event triggering a gastro-intestinal episode.

No, Mankie's a Man U supporter. Well, I guess that's the same thing! Boy George puts the MAN in MANchester UNITED.

I'd be surprised if it were and disappointed if it weren't. They're down one, which might or might not make them better.
-
I thought it might sell out. It really should.
I will be bringing the nme award and 200 quid. I would have brought a VCR a laptop and a vintage guitar, but some bastard beat me to it..........
What house of love do you have Bungle. I only have the best of.
Did you listen to the tyde? What can I bring for you?

I saw them a little over a month ago without Pete, opening for The Coral, and they were brilliant.

I just got the coral CD, its not as good as the last one. How was it/were they live?
As for the libertines did they have much new material or did they stick to up the bracket? I like the new single/video thats streaming from NME.

Yeah, I've heard that, but Ive never heard them live so I don't know that I'd be able to make a comparison with how good or not they are with(out) Pete. I know Pete is out of the US tour, but someone was telling me that he's off the band for good. This true?

for the latest installment.

Doesn't really answer the question though does it? I think everyone was well aware of Pete's addiction, his admittance of it isn't all the brilliant. He's been pinchin' band and that's just not cool.

words together in row sentences do not make
I think admitting the addiction is the first step in getting over it and going back to the band. It seems the band will take him back only if he gets clean.
A classic British rock and roll story. Check out Andy Rourke or Topper Headon for essentially the same thing.

I think the new Coral is the best album of the year so far. It may not 'rawk' as much as the first one but the songs are just so well written and performed. Listen to it a few more times and I think it will grow on you Markie. Live, I can't think of a current band that I've seen put on a better show.
The Libertines only played the new single and and songs from Up The Bracket. I'm not sure who sang what songs on the album, but live, I couldn't tell the difference in the songs. They sure made The Thrills seem like a bunch of knobs!
-
Thanks Yank,
I figured the coral would grow on me. It was just more love at first listen with the first.
So did the libertines do crazy stuff? Or just hammer out the songs. I think those songs should sound great live.
I got the thrills album the other day. Its errr odd. They make starsailor seem butch and turn coldplay into the A-team.
-
house of love cds-babe rainbow, audience with the mind+guy chadwicks solo cd and loads of cd singles, i shall bring rising for sunset and libertine-gene for your better half.

Markie, I warned you months and months ago that The Thrills fucking suck! In fact, I call them The Shits.
-
Bungle its the first and second albums I miss. I didnt really like the later albums although I would love to borrow his solo album.
What can I bring you?
Jaguar,
the thrills are not that bad its just a bit strange having an Irish band sing about Santa Cruz and San Diego. There are some pretty tunes there though. Its fine summer popness.

Well, yeah, that's one of the areas that you and I draw the line. You love Pop and I can't stand it. Oh, well.

There are some pop bands that I really like a lot. The Thrills aren't one of them though. Most of the people at the concert really liked The Thrills. If you ever hear the singer talk, he has the slightest of an Irish accent. They definitely want to be an American band.
Markie, the Libertines played a pretty straight forward set. The guitarist filling in for Pete did a get job. They reminded me of The Jam when I saw them years ago...and that's a good thing!
-
young man bring me mull historical society.
-
Ah Yank, you lucky bastard seeing the Jam. Between you and Mankie you have probably seen most of the early 80s acts that I love, but was too young for. Could Paul Weller actually sing back then?
As for you Bungle, MHS, US is in mmy wee baggie ready to go. Anything else?
-
just you in your sexy pants ;) thats what you wanted me to say...isnt it.

Weller was in fine form when I saw them. It was the last American tour (The Gift). They played at the University of Maryland in some small gymnasium.
