No worries. I watched on ESPN2, then headed over to the Lucky Bar for the late match. Surprised to see Real pull out a draw.

the post is reporting that ac milan will play fc barcelona at fed ex field on july 30. plans are still be worked out, but that's the tentative date. . .but, since both teams have games in the u.s., i guess they figure that dc should get one too.

Juve is also playing a match in Boston (I believe its against Barca in late July).
And, Barcelona, just so you know, if you sign Ruud away from Man U, there's going to be a brawl.

Not only will the Ducks get swept, they might not actually score a goal the entire series. They had too long of a layoff and aren't playing nearly as crisp or have as anywhere near the momentum they had in the previous series'.
It's really painful for me to watch.

Not happening! Becks staying too...United will sign a striker to work with Ruud (Kluivert or Rohnaldino) and shore up the defence with an experienced player during the summer.

unless you are beckham..........you can kick more than just the ball on the pitch........

Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney were reported to be walking through the local village while practicing in Spain for the upcoming Euro qualifiers. They came across a very attractive prostitute so Owen asked her how much for a little wank...Rooney said "don't worry about the little wank, how much for a real football superstar?"
Add Barcelona, AC Milan and Inter Milan to the list of teams bidding on Beckham....Kenyon is reported to say any offer over 30 million pounds would have to be considered "it would be remiss of us not to" Kenyon said. Meanwhile, other reports suggest United are close to signing Rohnaldino from PSG and Tom Howard, the goalie from NY/NJ Metrostars.

A quality comparison. I didn't get to see him very much growing up in LA (once a twice a year and then maybe in the playoffs), but when I moved out here, just instantly appreciated him. Boy did that guy ever deserve to hoist the cup. If you don't have an affection for the Devils, how could you not be rooting for Oatesy and Thomas to hoist the cup this year?

Hunter deserved to raise Lord Stanley's goblet every bit as much as Ray Bourke. At least Bourke got to do it.

Hunter was a classless player, his hit on Turgeon was criminal.. I can't think of 2 less deserving of a cup than Oates and Hunter. Well maybe Keith Tkachuk.

Turgeon is your typical spineless French twat, if you don't like to get hit, take up basketball.
On the subject of classless...wasn't Courtnall a Blue?

It was during the playoffs and Turgeon was over- celebrating in the Caps "house". As captain, Hunter was sending a message for the next game...not saying it's right, but he was a good captain doing what captains should do. He got his 21 game suspension, which would've been a 5 game suspension for anyone else. Tucker makes worse checks than that every game and gets squat...the ban was just a joke, and only because it was Hunter.
Now...do you remember why the Blues got Geoff "runaway" Cournall?

Not a young girl...and old slapper. Remember the incident outside Champions in G'towne when she went in the limo with a bunch of Caps players and obviously had a bit of who'syerdaddy with a couple of them. The next day she decides she was raped ($$$$$ :D ) but after a grand jury no charges were filed, and if I remember I believe she was actually charged with filing false charges. Courtnall, Cicarelli, Stevens and Johanson were all in the limo at the time, but Courtnall was the only yellow little shit who wanted to be traded out of Washington. The others faced the music because nothing bad had gone on.

I vaguely remember that now, that is four damn good players at that time. If he had been stolen from us after just a year I think Stevens would probably be my favorite player ever. The Blues paid out the nose for that 1 year of Stevens, but he was great then.

Thanks Jadetree...I enjoyed that article, although I don't agree with Oates philosophy. Teams only "rent" players for their benefit, not the player's. So if a team signs anyone for a playoff run it's because they feel they need that player so he's every bit a part of that team, he's the link they've been missing. Colorado signed Hunter, and then Bourke with the player's career in mind, but they wouldn't have done it had they not thought the player could improve the team.

Manchester City have confirmed that David Seaman has agreed a one-year contract to join the club.
City manager Kevin Keegan was known to be on the trail of the out-of-contract Arsenal and England goalkeeper as a replacement for Peter Schmeichel.
Keegan worked with Seaman when he was coach of the England team.
After 13 seasons with Arsenal, the 39-year-old was told by Gunners boss Arsene Wenger he would not be first choice next season - although he was offered a one-year contract with the promise of a place on the club's coaching staff.

I tend to agree with you now - especially after Kariya's legendary performance Saturday night.
While the league says that Stevens' hit was legal, it was not clean by any stretch of the imagination. It was a cheap shot at best. I didn't think we'd see Kariya until December at the earliest.
Anyhow, if anyone is interested, I'll be at the Park Bench Pub (Cleveland Park, the old Club Soda if you're old enough to remember that place) tonight to watch Game 7. I won't be the friendliest person while the game is on, but in between periods I can be fun. It won't be hard to find out which person in the bar is vansmack.

ac milan and barcelona have just been confirmed for rfk on july 30. don't know the date tickets go on sale though.
European soccer champion AC Milan will play Spanish power FC Barcelona on July 30 at RFK Stadium after negotiations to stage the exhibition at FedEx Field collapsed.
Game organizers and city officials wouldn't comment on the switch yesterday, but a source familiar with the talks said an official announcement would probably be made this week.
A spokesman for ChampionsWorld, the New Jersey-based company sponsoring the Milan-Barcelona match and Manchester United's summer tour, had said late last month that a deal was close to being finalized for Milan to play at the home of the Washington Redskins. But the sides apparently couldn't reach a compromise on financial details.
FedEx Field hasn't hosted a major soccer event since the 1999 Women's World Cup.
AC Milan, owned by Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, won its sixth European Cup title on May 28 by beating Italian rival Juventus on penalty kicks. Barcelona, suffering through a subpar Spanish league season, lost in the quarterfinals of the European Cup.
RFK Stadium also is expected to be named Wednesday as a venue for this fall's Women's World Cup.
Meantime, AC Milan signed Brazil's World Cup-winning captain, Cafu, to a two-year contract after his agreement with Serie A rival Roma expired.

cool something else interesting to add to the calendar...
so professor mankie in what finer drinking hole will you be giving tutorials to those of us who know the rules of the games but not the current faces?

Manchester OKs Transfer Fee for Beckham
MANCHESTER, England - Manchester United announced on Tuesday it had agreed a transfer fee with Barcelona for the sale of England captain David Beckham.
The deal is subject to a number of conditions including personal terms and Joan Laporta being elected president of Barcelona, United said.
"Manchester United confirms that club officials have met Joan Laporta, the leading candidate for the presidency of Barcelona," the club said in a statement.
"These meetings have resulted in an offer being made for the transfer of David Beckham to Barcelona.
"This offer is subject to a number of conditions and critically to both Mr. Laporta being elected president on Sunday 15 June and Barcelona subsequently reaching agreement with David Beckham on his personal contract.
"Manchester United confirms that, in the event that all of the conditions are fulfilled, then the offer would be acceptable."
FC Barcelona said Tuesday it had no comment on the Beckham transfer and referred all queries to Laporta. Laporta could not be immediately contacted.
Manchester United's announcement came after months of speculation about Beckham's future. Another Spanish club, nine-time Champions Cup winner Real Madrid, current champion AC Milan and Inter Milan had also been linked with a move for the England captain.
As is customary with transfer dealing, no fee was revealed by Manchester United. Newspaper reports have said any bid for Beckham would have to be at least 30 million pounds (US$48 million).
Beckham, who has been at Manchester United for almost 13 years and has helped the club win eight league titles in 11 years and the Champions Cup in 1999, is currently in Los Angeles with his pop star wife, "Posh Spice" Victoria.
Beckham told the Los Angeles Times he was happy to stay at Manchester United but had never said he would remain there for the rest of his career.

---------------------------
At a hastily arranged news conference in his Barcelona office, Laporta - stood by a screen displaying United's website statement - said: 'When David Beckham arrives from holiday, we will begin negotiations with him.
'If I am not elected president, I would turn over the transfer to the man who does win.'
Meanwhile, another candidate, Martinez Roviram, rubbished the potential transfer.
'Beckham is a media signing and more of a dream than reality. He is a player we would never try to sign,' he said on Spanish radio. 'He crosses well but we need someone to score the goals. We want to sign a number nine.
'Beckham makes a lot of news off the pitch but we're not interested in appearing in gossip columnns.'

Beckham upset by deal to Barcelona
Associated Press
LONDON -- David Beckham indicated Tuesday he would reject a deal that would send the Manchester United star to Barcelona.
Beckham was upset by the agreement and has no plans to meet with Joan Laporta, who is running for president of the Barcelona club, said the player's management company, SFX.
The English and Spanish teams agreed on the transfer, but the deal was contingent on Laporta winning Sunday's election and Beckham agreeing to contract terms.
"David is very disappointed and surprised to learn of this statement and feels that he has been used as a political pawn in the Barcelona presidential elections,'' SFX said.
Laporta said he would be talking to Beckham as soon as the player returned from the United States. Beckham is recovering from a broken right wrist.
"If I am not elected president, I would turn over the transfer to the man who does win,'' Laporta said at a news conference.
Another candidate in Sunday's election, Josep Martinez-Rovira, said he had no interest in signing the England captain, perhaps the world's most recognizable soccer star.
"Beckham is a media signing and more of a dream than reality. He is a player we would never try to sign,'' Martinez-Rovira told Spanish radio.
He said Beckham passes well but does not score enough.
"Beckham makes a lot of news off the pitch, but we're not interested in appearing in gossip columns,'' he said.
Announcement of the transfer agreement came after months of speculation about his future.
Another Spanish club, Real Madrid, and the Italian teams AC Milan and Internazionale also had been linked to a possible move for the 28-year-old midfielder.
As is customary in transfers, no fee was disclosed by Manchester United. Newspaper reports have said any bid for Beckham would have to be at least $48 million.
Beckham has helped Manchester United win six of its eight league titles in 11 years and the European Champions Cup in 1999. He has been at Manchester United for almost 13 years, including its youth teams.
Beckham is in Los Angeles with pop star wife Victoria, formerly of the Spice Girls. Before Tuesday's announcement, he had told the Los Angeles Times he was happy to stay at Manchester United but had never said he would remain there for the rest of his career.
Beckham is paid a reported $143,000 a week at Manchester United. He is worth $79.5 million, according to a recent survey of Britain's richest people in The Sunday Times. He has a myriad of endorsement and sponsorship deals and is featured on billboard and magazine covers around much of the world.
If the deal does go through, Beckham could face his old team for the first time Aug. 3. Manchester United plays Barcelona in an exhibition game that opens Philadelphia's new Lincoln Financial Field.
Manchester United's U.S. tour is aimed at enhancing the club's profile in a country where soccer takes a back seat to other sports.
Beckham is getting even more visibility of late in the British film "Bend it Like Beckham,'' with the title based on his trademark ability to curl a free kick over a wall of defenders into the net.
Although Manchester United is soccer's wealthiest club, making big profits every year, it cannot afford to buy players without trying to balance the books.
Two players the club is said to be interested in are Brazilian World Cup star Ronaldinho of Paris Saint Germain and Harry Kewell, Leeds United's Australian forward.
"There will always be changes at a team like Man United,'' Beckham has said.
Beckham has dismissed suggestions of a rift with Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson despite several publicized fallouts.
Ferguson left his star player on the bench several times last season. In the locker room after a 2-0 loss to Arsenal, Ferguson kicked a soccer shoe that accidentally struck Beckham above the left eye.
"Despite what many people say about me and Sir Alex Ferguson, he's been a father figure to me,'' Beckham said.

Me? Sat here surrounded by beautiful Italian sports cars waiting for men with penile erectile disfunction to come and buy one...maybe Bob Dole will show up!
Beck's has reportedly told Barcelona to "fuck off", so it looks like Real Madrid or staying with United, which is probably impossible at this point.

Hey Smackie....just spoke with my sister back in Manc...evidently Beck's is totally pissed off with the way United have handled the situation and said he won't go anywhere, and would rather sit on the bench for the remainder of his contract then walk away so United get squat for him....I doubt it will come to that but I do admire him for standing up to them.
I still feel he'll be at Old Trafford next year.

Thanks Mank for the inside scoop! I just read an article with Father Ted completely trashing United for the way they have handled this and noting that Becks is United through and through and has no desire of ever leaving. Of course Father Ted said that Becks still has to ask for Posh's permission.
