Title: Are you a yuppie?
Post by: Charlie Nakatestes, Japanese Golfer on February 26, 2003, 05:26:00 pm
Are You a Yuppie? Donâ??t hang your head in shame yet, itâ??s time to find out if you really qualify. Read through the checklist below and put a tick next to any statement which applies to you.
I have bought the following albums this year:
Moby Play
Thievery Corporation The Mirror Conspiracy
St Germain Tourist
Dido Dido
I drive the following vehicles:
SUV
My SUV has a â??Look out hippieâ?? bumper sticker.
I make at least two calls a day on my mobile phone.
I have been to Whistler more than once in the past year.
I buy Starbucks coffee at least four times a week.
My partner and I own matching leather jackets.
I own/lease/am interested in â??loft apartmentsâ?? on Hastings Street (or insert applicable newly gentrified area in your city here).
I tell others that if Iâ??d sold my stocks before the dot com bust Iâ??d be a millionaire.
I have purified water delivered to my door.
If you have ticked more than six boxes then brace yourself for the bad news. You are a despicable yuppie. If you have ticked less than six boxes then breathe a sigh of relief. Youâ??re safe for now.
How exactly can a car be immoral? I can see an argument (though do not buy into it) that choosing to drive an SUV might be immoral, but as for the car itself....

Drinking coffee from Starbucks qualifies for being a yuppie? I guess so, but it also gives an idea of the bad taste of the person who buys coffee there.
