But...but...I already sent my tickets in for a refund! Why does Spoon hate freedom?
-
Good for them (and Seth) for trying to accomodate everyone. It sounds like a clusterf*ck though.
-
So tickets.com won't be selling anymore tickets to this?
-
i am SO PISSED. i already returned my fucking tickets. what the hell do i do now?
-
Oh man, I understand the intentions were good here but if 3000 people all decide to use their tickets to get into the 1500 capacity second show, this is going to be ugly.
In fact, this is probably going to cause rioting among people who got refunds/trade-ups already but want into the 9:30 show.
I feel sorry for Seth for what is no doubt about to take place in this thread. I'm thinking 400 posts by Thursday.
-
It should make for some great reading for those of us who are bored innocent bystanders, though.

Yeah, I have a feeling this thread and the one that will no doubt pop-up the day after the event will be car crashes I am unable to look away from.
*gets popcorn*

I'm not going to have a heart attack over it or anything, it's just a concert, but this plan really is unfair to the people who got refunds, and I really hope there is a way around it for us. I would really like to go to this show. I mean, they told us to send our tickets in for refunds. If I had known they would change their minds and reschedule the show, I never would have asked for a refund. Grr.

Only a little over 600 tickets were sold for both dates combined.

That's wierd. It seems like twice that number were bitching about it....

Oh, then trainwreck certainly averted. I'm sure someone will bitch about something though.
Cheers!
-
That's right...The shows were still on soft sale when they were cancelled.
-
I'm very VERY happy with this now.
Thank you to both parties for fixing this mess.
Thank you, Seth!
-
I'd kinda like to see Spoon and Damo Suzuki in the same night.
And now it's very doable.
Who's got my extra? :)
-
what? fixing this mess? i dont have a ticket anymore. i just returned it on friday!!!!!! now how am i going to to go the show? this is fucking ridiculous. nothing is "fixed."
-
Two lines makes no sense - you'd have to have THREE lines (impossible) to accomodate those of us who have not yet returned or upgraded our tickets. I bought a ticket for the 23rd and I can't go on the 22nd and that shouldn't make me a second class citizen. I think the people who originally bought tickets (all 600 of us) to one of the two shows, should have priority, particularly those of us who bought tickets for the 23rd. It's only fair. I hope you figure ot a way to do this. The explanation on DCist makes NO sense.
-
There should be a rule here where you have to have over 100 posts to be able to bitch about anything club-related.
Tickets/ticket sales-related as well.

And Damo sings "Spoon" while Spoon covers "I Am Damo Suzuki"?

I think that the holders of tickets for the 23rd do get priority:
"Bring your unused ticket to the show on the 23rd - it will guarantee entry if presented before 6:45, and can still be used for entry after that time, space permitting."
-
what a perfect chance for a band to make an entrance through the front of the club while people with flags are chanting how much they're against you.

I disagree. Those are often the funniest posts and easiest to attack. :)

no one has addressed the biggest issue:
what about the people who RETURNED THEIR 23RD TICKETS?
I returned it. As far as I know, I won't be able to buy it back. That means I can't go to the show? That is a load of crap.

Relax. The news has been out for about a couple hours now. It will be addressed...
-
Based on the DCist explanation, if you buy a lawn ticket to the Shins/Spoon gig, and arrive early at the club on 10/23, you will get into the show.
-
Regardless of how the logistics for this show work out, I don't think anyone can complain about fairness. Just because it ends up working out better for some than others doesn't make it unfair. I'm sure all parties are working to put together the best situation for the most people.
-
I was hoping maybe they's do an acoustic show in my backyard.
-
DCIst is down for the moment...
So...10/23 is on again at the club and original tickets will be honored?
If so, my beef with the world is over.
-
Still waiting patiently for information for those of us who returned our 10/23 tickets when the show was cancelled. How can we attend the show now?
Anyone? Bueller?
-
Call club & ask for Tom
-
so will we get an official announcement or do we just go with what was posted on DCist?

Is there an update on this? Has this been confirmed by the Club?

It's back on the tickets.com site as 'sold out.'
-
Extras anyone?

Has anybody tried this route and want to report back to the group?

I will, if you hook me up with Spoon's email address.

No can do brother. Britt's not talking to me since I called him out for talking to the folks at DCist as if they or their opinion matters.

I did! Tom was quite helpful and enabled me to recover my returned tickets.
Also, if anyone wants to know, there was another email from tickets.com to purchasers saying the following:
"Hello,
Spoon will perform a special show at the 9:30 Club for those who bought tickets to either of the original Spoon shows at 9:30.
Spoon w/ The Ponys * Tuesday, October 23 @ the 9:30 Club. Doors for this show will be @ 6:00 PM.
For those who bought Tickets.com tickets for either original 9:30 show:
Simply bring your unused Spoon ticket to the show on the 23rd - it will guarantee entry if presented before 6:45, and can still be used for entry after that time, space permitting.
OR
Bring your ticket to the box office at the 9:30 Club or Merriweather Post Pavilion to exchange/upgrade your ticket for The Shins @ Merriweather on 10/22. At this time you will receive a voucher. This voucher, when presented with the 10/22 Merriweather ticket stub, will guarantee the ticket holder entry to the special show if presented by 6:45 PM on the 23rd. You can still get in after 6:45, space permitting of course. Yes that means you get to go to both the Merriweather & 9:30 shows!
For those who have already exchanged their 9:30 tickets for Ticketmaster tickets to the Merriweather show:
Bring your Shins ticket stub to the 9:30 Booth located by the South Gate entrance @ Merriweather on the night of The Shins show. There you will receive a voucher for access to the 9/23 Spoon show.
Admittance is limited by capacity and not guaranteed."
So yeah, basically what DCist said.
-
Thanks kled.
-
Anyone know if we can use our Virgin Fest Voucher for the Tuesday show?
-
not sure if this is clear or not...
but anyone with a Merriweather ticket can go to 930 show for free (limited by capacity)
