Since this board has been taken over by classic rock chatter (Police, Zeplin, Pumkins), I thought I'd throw this query out there...
You still hear Renegade and Blue Collar Man on the radio sometimes. How come you never hear Mr. Roboto? That was a hoooooge hit back in the day.
-
i heard it two days ago.
i find it hilarious, though, that classic rock stations while playing bands that have numerous albums covering multiple decades, still manage to have as small of a song selection that they play as the pop stations.
we also have a station down here that still plays metallica almost hourly (we have timed it before at work).
-
There was this awesome classic rock station in Atlanta that used to play everything, not just the same 4 or 5 songs by each artist.
I too, think that is strange and crappy.
-
I'm waiting for Zeno (http://www.zenosworld.com/) to do a remix.

how often do you listen to the radio that you would know they never play it?
i would think "come Sail away" would be their biggest song. it was my fave!

I love that song. I also love the Freaks and Geeks episode that features that song at the end. It's so gloriously cheesy.

Because you're not my neighbor. I play that song all the time. I play a lot of Styx, actually. That's right, I said it.

That was one of the most brilliant uses of a song I've ever seen. Setting, tone, timing, comic potential, pitch perfect.

"come sail away" in "freaks and geeks" > "come sail away" in "south park" >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> "come sail away" in "virgin suicides"
-
More than you think. I spend 30 mins a day in 1995 Saturn which only has AM/FM radio and a cassette player.

Because Styx caught a bad rap because most critics are cynical assholes?

Wow, thanks for bringing this thread up.
It reminds me of when a robot costumed Danny King acted out the song Mr. Roboto in the talent show when he was in fifth grade. I remember him throwing and smashing things at the end of the song, and the crowd going wild. It was perhaps Danny's finest moment in his entire life.
For those unfamiliar with Danny King, he was the type of gawky, greasy haired fellow who got bullied A LOT back in the days when bullying wasn't at all discouraged in schools.
I later ran into Danny sometime when we were both in our 20's. I had moved away but was home visiting my parents. Or something like that. He said he was opening an ice cream shop. It later hit me that he has the perfect name for an ice cream shop owner...he could have called it "King Cone."
But instead, he called it "Dan's Ice Cream." No idea what happened to him after that.

This is still true.
Also, that robot opened that door in February of 2018. Where you been Sidehatch?

seeing how, there are so many threads as it is . . . I believe I approve, of this recycling of threads idea, to prove whatever point we have, at any particular moment.

In all fairness, the reason I was thinking about the robot dogs was the story about them pulling a truck
Bit their was no gif and I found the one for the door opening and thought it was creepy
So here is the one of them pulling the
truck (https://www.sciencealert.com/boston-dynamics-robot-dogs-can-pull-a-truck-now-because-of-course-they-can)

@sonicmega
All the people who laughed off the “worrywarts” years ago for freaking out about the Funny Dancing Robot Dogs (tm) should be forced to watch this video once a day for the remainder of the year.

I actually had one of these as a teenager. I was born without my L5 (5th lombard) and didn't know it until freshman football started. This was one of the things prescribed for my treatment (besides not playing freshman football) and we had it in our garage. It did nothing for my back but provided hours of entertainment putting people on it and turning them over.

But how's your vertical?

But how's your vertical?
By the end of my junior year of high school I could dunk a basketball from a standstill, so close to 40 inches. Perhaps I didn't give that machine enough credit.
