what makes you think its going to be small?  we were at a protest when they closed Nation down once and there were like 3500 people there...jsut for a club that only held 2000 people!

i am sure with 17K signatures on a petition (albeit a dumb one) i am sure there will be plenty of people tomorrow.

What is there to protest? I understand why there was a protest last time. This time I would say there was a clear mandate.

I'm sure there will be a few along the inauguration parade route. They shouldn't be hard to find. Even though I'm still bitter, I'm not gonna bother going because I don't feel like freezing my ass off protesting something that's not going to change.

Eh, I'm Not Really Going For Anything To Change, I Don't Believe It Will.  I'm Going To Meet New People Who Feel The Same Way I Do.  And, HFS Was Shut Down Before, Not Saying Any Protest Or Petitions Brought It Back, But They Have Come Back From Being Shut Down Before

Thank God!!!!

Only the 2nd worst part of the station next to the fucking Sports Junkies. Or would that be that crap they try to pass off as music?

If you really want to make them change, find some sponsors. That's all they really care about.

Personally, I don't have a problem with a Spanish station. What I do have a problem with is the lack of any real quality music at all anywhere in the Baltimore/DC/NOVA broadcasting area.

www.wtmd.org (http://www.wtmd.org) would do me fine if I lived in Baltimore.

I listened to WTMD for awhile maybe a year or so ago and then had to let it go because it drove me so crazy. Way, way too much Dave Matthews and Tegan And Sara, neither of whom I can stand let alone constantly. Lots of Sondre Lerchre(sp?) and John Mayer too. Some good songs at times but just not my cup of tea at all. Will settle for it in a pinch if I'm desparate but if I'm home, there is so much more online that suits me far, far better.

I would agree. Still, it's better than any other Balt/DC option for free car radio.

Yeah, I'll give you that. But if I'm in my car, I just pop in a CD. If that goes up, than WTMD might just win out while I'm driving in this area.

Yes, with a cd player, you'll get 100% satisfaction. I guess I'm so picky that no matter what radio station it is, even something on the net, I'm only going to like no more than 20% of the songs.

Do you think it's a good or bad thing to protest on Inaguration Day? Good - more people being around to join the protest. Bad - the news cameras are going to be too busy covering the other shit to pay much attention.

I think he meant that people should be protesting Bush's inauguration instead of whfs being taken off the air if they want to protest something. I whole-heartedly agree.

What's more likely to be effective - protesting against Bush or the new HFS?
Title: Re: Protest?
Post by: azaghal1981 on January 14, 2005, 08:08:00 pm
Neither. But protesting Bush is a more valuable use of time if you want to stand out in freezing temps for a cause.
