I had a friend in college who went around campus doing that.
He also collected soda cans and turned them in for the 5 cent refund. There was another guy who did the same, and my friend once prank called the other guy and told him to "stay off my can turf, or your ass is grass."

Rhett is a good guess, but sadly wrong.
Although perhaps it would be a good way of improving the dollars per minute of entertainment score for some of his shows...

When i moved to Boston after high school, me and my roommate saved all of our beer/soda cans, cause we heard we could get 5cents a piece for them.
after we got several hundred cans, I took them to the grocery store, and found that it was a bad idea that we crushed them all up.

Whilst in college, I worked as a carni. At the end of the day, I'd go under the rides, and come up with a few dollars in change every day. And some other shit, too.

Are you sure you are not thinking about some other GGW?
Atually it might be the same one as his clothes taste does sometime leave something to be desired.

Rhett has a very complex series of formulas and alogorithms (sp?) to determine the entertainment value of a show. Collecting a few quarters off the ground would throw his life's work completely out of whack.

I do it. Usually just under the stage. Found a $20 bill there once. Security was peeved...
But even if it is a quarter, if it is covered in gunk, I will leave it there.

i have found hundreds of dollars on the floor of the club over the years. finding money on the floor is also known as a "door staph tip."

It is also known as my new source of metro money/beer fund. All you scavengers have some competition now. I've got eagle eyes.

I did that last Saturday at the DC101 Chili Cookoff. I must have left with up $2 in change.

I normally don't find money. What I typically discover are the guitar picks that get thrown at people, and they are just too drunk to catch them or even notice.

I also have a good watch collection from shows with mosh pits over the years.
