In Britain, Prince Harry is insisting on going off to Iraq â?? even as his country is reducing its troop commitment. (http://www.latimes.com/news/printedition/opinion/la-oe-kelley19mar19,1,986833.story?coll=la-news-comment&ctrack=1&cset=true)

Prince Charles is not the president.
A better question is why are Prince's daughters in Iraq?
-
I bet when the Bush sluts find out our dashing Prince is in Iraq they'll want to go!!!! Problem with that is if they take after their father they probably think Iraq is in Iowa.
-
Haha, let's all make fun of the president. It's what everyone's doing!
Keep your political opinions to yourself. This is a board for 9:30 club & things related. Please go to the hippie liberal douche board if you want to "state" your opinions about politics.

It's not that everyone's doing it; it's just that he makes it so fucking easy that anyone living in reality (see: doesn't get their news from Rupert Murdock-run sources and Sean Hannity) can't help but bash him. I never read anything in the agreement I accepted when I signed up for this forum saying politics weren't allowed. Sorry.

Oh lighten up. It's unhealthy to worship a leader so much that you can't laugh along with an internet thread with an obvious humorous slant.

you're so un-american, attacking a wartime president!!! given that he's leading us in war (regardless of its origins), doesn't that give him a pass on EVERYTHING? from constitutional rights and congressional oversight to interweb chat board criticism, right?
lighten up indeed... love that picture by the way :)

In an appearance on CNN's Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer, real estate executive and reality television personality Donald Trump called U.S. President George W. Bush "probably the worst president in the history of the United States."
-
I wouldn't have expected that from him. He's still an egotistical prick though.

There once was a song called "Arrest The President."
Contemporary music, a hit with the kids, it was a top ten.
I wasn't pop then, so I missed the bus a bit,
But politics was on everybody's hot this summer list.
The cool kids were all rocking votes,
I shit you not, I was pistol whippin' cops for hip hop. [Booyea!]
.....
But some of y'all still havenâ??t grown into your face,
And your face doesn't quite match your head.
And I'm waiting for a brain to fill the dead space that's left,
You're all, "Give me ethnicity or give me dreads."
Trustafundian rebel without a cause for alarm,
Cause when push turns to shove
You jump into your forefathers arms.
He's a banker, you're part of the system,
Off go the dreadlocks in comes the income.
The briefcase (the freebase)
The sickness (the symptom)
When the cameras start rollin' stay the fuck outta the picture pilgrim!
The briefcase (the freebase)
The sickness (the symptoms)
When the cameras start rollin'...
Slow down Gandhi, you're killin' em.
Mr. Save The World, spare us the details,
Save the females from losing interest.
And Miss Save The Universe,
You're a damsel in distress,
Tied down to a track of isolated incidents.
Generalize my disease,
I need a taste of what it's like.
Living off the fat of kings,
I play the scab at your hunger strike.
Slow down Gandhi, you're killin'em.

Are they even still around? Not a fan myself...not even a leftie liberal truth be known. I just detest Bush, his policies, his staff, all the death he's caused because of his personal vendetta against the bloke who tried, but failed, to assissinate his pa, the way his brother and the supreme court gave him the whitehouse in the first place....need I go on or have I made my point?

"Please go to the hippie liberal douche board if you want to "state" your opinions about politics."
I suppose we could, but since people are supposedly fighting and dying for our right to be "hippie" and "liberal" I wouldn't want to dissapoint. But I'll make you a deal, as soon as everyone of war fighting age (or the children of those who aren't) that voted for W in the last election has served in Iraq, I'll cut them and their brain-dead co-conspirators some slack, until then I think they're all fair game. If they want a "do-over," now that they've seen the error of their ways, I'll give them that too as soon as they resurrect the dead US soldiers and Iraqi civilians and rehab all the injured soldiers they cheerleaded into that grinder. When I've made a monumental mistake I try to stay low key and shut the phuck up, it might be instructional for others.

Are you sure it wasn't "unmature" to post a picture of a "moran?"
-
GWB...
1) Is a total moron.
2) Is one of worst presidents we have ever had.
3) Had a better grasp on reality when he was still sniff coke.
Note none of this has anything what-so-ever to do with the political party he associates himself with. Point in case is that probably the best president we ever had (RMN) was of the same party, as was the most over-rated (RR), and the only reason he isn't the pure-d #1 worst is because he is tied with Carter in that role.
All that said, it would be really refreshing if at least ONE party would give us a decent candidate to vote for thsi go round...
-
Oh, to address the original question, the reason they are not there is that there isn't enough free booze flowing in the sand pit.
-
Carter was a great president. The abs hated him.
-
From what I can make out, Carter was a great president who unfortunately staffed his cabinet with morons....Reagan was a moron who staffed his cabinet with competent professionals.
Not that I know that much because I haven't studied it in depth, or care to for that matter, but on ther surface it seems to be the case.
Now, the argument could be made that Reagan was the better president because of his choice of staff, which is a valid point, but we are still paying for Reaganomics, and with Bushonomicsspendingeverythingonwarmongeringsomeandmyvpcangetevenricher, could leave us digging out for the foreseeable future.
-
Fuck Reagan. They named an airport after him while he was still alive.

interestingly enough, i believe i heard somewhere today that w's nephew or something (also a george) actually enrolled in the service.
not that it lessens the utter destruction this 2-election stealing, let-911-happen and refuse to investigate it properly, start a perma-war, terrorist increasing, budget destroying, spy on citizens, let NOLA drown mofo has done to the country, but i'm not going to get political about it or nothing.

Funny, I wasn't aware that you had any authority whatsoever to tell people what they may and may not discuss, or what opinions they may express. And we don't make fun of Bush just because "it's what everyone's doing", we do it because we think he's a horrible President in charge of a horrible administration who's running this country into the ground. The reason that everyone is making fun of the President is because he deserves it (several thousand times over), and because he makes it so ridiculously easy.
I served six years in the U.S. Navy under that bastard. I'll express whatever opinions I damn well please.

Amazing. He doesn't get the picture. What's really amusing to me is that one of my first thoughts when I saw that picture was that there are probably a lot of people out there who wouldn't understand why it's funny, and that's really sad.
Also, what people like you, IMAmoose24, don't seem to realize is that it's patriotism that makes people like us criticize the President. You know the massive amounts of criticism and disgust being directed against Bush and his administration? The wave of discontent that swept the Republicans out of control of Congress? That's patriotism. There's actually quite a bit of it out there.

I never said he was a great President. I can't stand him myself. With all the Illeags he's letting in here, enough to make me sick. And it seems like it's impossible to win the war over in Iraq. I never said you shouldn't say that he wasn't a good president, I just hate all the name calling that accomplishes nothing, and all the people who go along with it.
I was on my way to the 9:30 club last saturday night for Explosions in the Sky, when an Iraq protest group was coming home from the rally. This one guy must have called bush a Mother F***** at least a dozen times. The point is, that that accomplishes nothing and is an unmature approach. The protest on the other hand, is one acceptable way to get your point across.
No one is saying you don't have the freedom of speech, just please deal with your pollitics in a fashonable manner.

Ah, I didn't really take that point from your earlier posts. In that case, I can see where you're coming from. Still, Dupek brought up a pretty valid point with this thread about how none of our leaders are sending their own children off to fight this war they all support so much. He wasn't just name-calling and such.

I've never been known to be 'fashionable' and yes, "Bush is a Mother F*****"...whatever "Mother F*****" means, rather an odd phrase if you ask me. I prefer to say "Bush is a TWAT"...much more expressive in my opinion

actually, it's prima facie, although this is an understandable slip-up given your (assumed) knowledge of Latin:
The phrase prima facie is sometimes misspelled prima facia in the mistaken belief that facia is the actual Latin word; however, the word is in fact facies (fifth declension), of which facie is the ablative.
but getting back to the issue here (lest moose call me a substance-avoiding liberal), you rest your case on the simple fact that Illegals are illegal, end of debate? no further justification required? everything that is illegal is bad? illegal/legal status can't and shouldn't be changed? i don't agree with dupek and moose's assertions, but they do make for a more convincing argument...
-

Not only you keep talking about things unrelated to the 9:30 club, but now you are starting to blame illegals for all the things you don't like (without any convincing argument). It seems that as long as people criticize illegals, it is good to use the 9:30 board. However, as for criticizing your president, you don't agree with using the 9:30 board for this purpose.
-
kill all foreigners!
-
just because something is illegal doesn't mean we should be automatons about it. for me, just being illegal is rarely enough to motivate me to not do something. are all ALL of your MP3s legal? ever smoked a cuban cigar, or (gasp) consumed drugs? do you speed or run an occasional red light or stop sign? these are all illegal, yet we do them.
i do support stronger laws on illegal immigration, and i'm not blind to the social costs incurred by illegals. what i'm against is how the argument is presented and the associations made with illegals. it's badly-veiled xenophobia for the most part. having spoken with more than my share of anti-illegal types, i saw an abnormal obsession with kicking out illegals to the point of calling for gestapo-like campaigns of rounding people up by gun-point and throwing them in the back of a truck in the middle of the night. armed Minutemen taking the law into their own hands. the belief that once illegals are gone, all of this country's problems will be solved. so much blind hatred.
guess what's going to happen to the price of fruits and vegetables if we don't get a decent guest-worker program going... there is no way we're getting enough legals to work picking fruit at $3.50 an hour.

I 100% agree with this. I can't STAND "protesters" who seem like they're just out there to cause a ruckus and say they were there. It accomplishes nothing at all, and is utterly counterproductive to whatevery they are trying to protest.
However, there's a difference between some toolbag in a Free Mumia or Che Guerva t-shirt shouting cursewords at the president, and some people making a joke about the party-hearty Bush daughters in relation to a fellow party-hearty royal prince who is actually going to Iraq. You'll notice, no one even brought up anything negative on GWB until you came in here and jumped the gun.

If they are "stealing our jobs," then why is Colorado having to resort to using prison inmates (http://www.wilmingtonstar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070309/NEWS/703090325/-1/State) to pick vegetables after enacting the toughest crackdown on immigrants in the nation?
If those were truly "our jobs," then there shouldn't be a problem rounding up native born Americans to pick peppers, correct?
Just sayin'
No, he doesn't have a fool-proof solution for the illegal immigrant problem facing this country, but I think the president's policies are far better than some draconian round-up/instant crackdown.

I think it is a matter of race rather than the illegal part of it. In DC I think you would not see the same reaction towards a blonde Australian illegal inmigrant as you find towards a Salvadorean. Unfortunately, the same thing happens in Argentina with Bolivians or in Spain, Italy, or France (to name a few) with people coming from the Arab world.

Oh, it's absolutely a matter of race....that's why I made my previous sarcastic comment about being as bad as them mexicuns. Do you really think they'd have a problem if we were 'being invaded' by illegal scantily clad scandinavian women?
Why don't they scream and shout about putting a big effing fence up at the Canadian border?

well, yes and no. while there is a xenophobic part to the whole thing (moreso than simply race-based), to me, my problem is the lack of assimilation, or even the desire to assimilate. i've seen several immigrant marches and protests since i've moved out here to s.f., and my one critique of them remains the same: write the signs in english. that may be simplistic, but i think it goes back to the xenophobia inherent in this issue and a feeling that if they can't be bothered to learn english why should we be supportive. europe has a much bigger problem with their immigrant population because those immigrants are coming from a heritage that is sometimes at odds with the "western culture" of openness and diversity (and women's rights).
as for mankie, regardless of how you got here, you eventually became a legal immigrant and a u.s. citizen. i won't pretend to know the steps an illegal immigrant would need to take to become a legal immigrant and/or u.s. citizen, nor the restrictions placed on legal immigration by the u.s.

I hope the Chinese are nicer to your kids than you are to the hispanics when they can't speak Mandarin or Cantonese...

I must admit, I have a problem with someone moving to a foriegn country then demanding to live within the cultures, laws etc of the place they just left in their new home...Why the hell did they leave their homeland in the first place? For example, when I moved to the US I had to get used to driving on the other side of the road, I didn't demand to be allowed to drive on the left because that's what my culture believes in.
I believe anyone who wants to provide a better life for themselves and their family should be welcomed into a new country...especially a country of immigrants like America. But in return they should respect and live by the laws of that country and learn to speak the language of that country....the issue in the US though, is just what exactly is the official language?
One story I heard on talk radio down here was about some muslims who applied for a job at the meat dept. of Target, then once hired refused to handle pork. WHAT THE FUCK!!! If you don't want to do the job then don't fucking apply, it's that simple. It's that sort of stuff that makes my blood boil.

Certainly ridiculous but I wouldn't be surprised if that story had been made up. Not made up are instances of pharmacists (or "chemists" if you prefer, BUT IN THIS COUNTRY...) refusing to dispense birth control pills or even sell condoms because of their religious beliefs. And they're not Muslims.

Wait, Target sells meat?

This was originally printed in the Christian Science Monitor and made its way onto Yahoo! News:
Few Americans share Iraq war's sacrifices (http://news.yahoo.com/s/csm/20070326/ts_csm/asacrifice)
Five years after President Bush declared war on Islamic extremism, the military has lost 3,599 troops and spent $503 billion in Iraq and Afghanistan. Yet unlike past wars, even unpopular ones, most Americans have contributed little directly.
Every time someone says "the government spent" or "the military spent," a righteous populist neuron in my brain feels compelled to scream, THE GOVERNMENT NEVER SPENT A FUCKING PENNY ON ANYTHING! THE GOVERNMENT EXTORTS MONEY FROM CITIZENS, TAKES A CUT FOR ITSELF, AND THEN REDISTRIBUTES THE MONEY.
At this point, "most Americans" have been FORCED to pay nearly TWO THOUSAND BUCKS EACH for that counterproductive bloodbath. I could REALLY USE that two thousand bucks right now. And fuck knows what quotient of that two grand goes to bankers' interest and the government payroll.
Hey, Uncle Samâ??I realize you have the guns pointed at our heads as well as at the Iraqis, and if we don't give you our lunch money you'll throw us in jail, but can you at least, for once, ADMIT it?
