Anybody going to their show at the 8x10? I wonder if there will be an opener, none listed on the website.
-
What day?
-
Crieky. Formerly 8x10 formerly Funk Box now 8x10 website took a few exchanges to find. This one was updated through October: http://www.thefunkbox.com/index.html (http://www.thefunkbox.com/index.html)
I assume this is the new main?

Show is 11/2. Don't know the opener and Devotchka's site isn't working.
-
is this a russian Devo cover band?
-
They are from Denver by way of Chicago. The singer is either Sicilian or Ukrainian by ancestry, depending on what bio you read. CMJ called them the best unsigned band of 2003 or 2004. They are the best live act that most of you will never see. They don't play covers.
I called the 8x10 last week, and they did not know whether there would be an opener. Told me to call back day of show.
I hope they have a good van. They are in Northhampton, MA on Tues, Baltimore on Wed, and Lexington, KY on Thurs.

And DevotcKa's website is now up:

Don't think that I can make it but would love to. Great band!

This was the best show of the year. Or was the best show of the year the Devotchka show I saw in Vancouver?
They looked a little tired at first, probably from the 6+ hour drive, but the crowd was really into it, and the band seemed inspired. The singer commeneted that it was their first time in Baltimore and they didn't know what to expect, but that the crowd really made them feel good.
Either way, y'all really need to see them live. And get their album "How it Ends"!
-
Didn't they perform at SXSW last year? Hope they make it there next year.
-
dang; i thought this thread might have been about the all-girl hardcore band, The Devotchkas. i guess i thought wrong.

Your first clue should have been the topic starter.
-
Yes, they did. Though I was not there.

Nope, different band.
Go to www.myspace.com/devotchakmusic (http://www.myspace.com/devotchakmusic)
There you can hear four of their songs. Try them, you might like them. :)

This isn't true but I'm sure that they just forgot. They played in Baltimore maybe a year or so ago at some outdoor festival in Fells Point. Don't think it was the Fells Point Festival but some other event with lots of bands.
Rhett, they must have disolved their MySpace account. :(

Nah, just a little typo in the link:

Ah...thank you. ;)
-
so were they more gypsy-esque or more radiohead-esque
-
Maybe they said their first "club show" in Baltimore. That would gel with what you said. Wish I had known of them when they played Fells Point.

I don't really know that much about either, but I'd vote for the former.
