Now that I have a new iPod, I've got lots of rooms for podcasts -- it's like crafting your own specialized version of "talk radio" for your commute. But I haven't found much just searching iTunes.
So, recommended podcasts??
As an FYI, the problem I've come across is that for long podcasts (or audiobooks), you have to listen to them all at once since iPods don't have FF or Rew functions. Has anyone found a way around this? (I found this out listening to a two-hour long "This American Life" audiobook. I can't listen to any music until I finish the book, or I'll lose my place.)

Seldom do I miss this one:

Actually bags, it depends on the iPod you have, but you can forward or go back. Just click the middle button on your clickwheel and then roll the clickwheel backwards or forwards...that should enable you to move it to where you want it to be.

the ricky gervais podcast is some funny funny stuff... Karl the Mank rules...

Hot damn -- even if you "stop" out of it? Yeah, I figured better minds would solve my problem!

I've got the color display photo click wheel. Oy, that's a mouthful. I assume that's a 4th Gen?
Thanks for the tips, Pollard & Bearman.

Ricky Gervais Podcast to Be Sold
Tuesday February 21 9:49 AM ET
Ricky Gervais' podcast is going commercial.
A New Jersey-based company announced Tuesday it will begin selling subscriptions to the "Ricky Gervais Show" next week.
Gervais and Stephen Merchant, the team behind the BBC's acclaimed comedy series "The Office," launched the podcast in December. Podcasts are audio recordings that are posted online; most are free.
The 30-minute show contains much scatological humor. It features the pair interviewing Karl Pilkington, a producer at their old radio show, about topics such as the cognitive abilities of chimpanzees and the existence of vampires and ghosts.
Wayne-based Audible said it will offer two seasons of the show one starting Feb. 28 and one in the fall each with at least four episodes. The podcasts will cost $1.95 per episode or $6.95 per season.

I'm a big fan of the CBC Radio 3 podcast.
http://radio3.cbc.ca/ (http://radio3.cbc.ca/)
It's virtually all unsigned/indie bands from across the musical spectrum.
You can get the podcast through the usual subscription process or you can download the MP3 if you want to go 'old school'.
Your mileage may vary on this - because of the variety, you might find parts of the podcasts boring. But I've discovered some great young bands this way.

thanks for the heads up... i was thinking about checking it out, sure do miss the days of brave new waves and the sat night programming.

Yes, good stuff, worth keeping and tossing in the shuffle mix.
I also subscribe to a few political things: CounterSpin, Media Matters, Progressive Point of View, RadioNation. Also Despair, Inc. video podcasts (just a few released so far). I torrent Democracy Now! but it's also available as audio and video podcasts.

I'm just getting into podcasts myself. So far I've found and like these:

Bitjobs for the Masses
Drowned in Sound Radio
Take Your Medicine
Not Your Usual Bollocks
KCRW's Music Exchange
Downloaded but haven't listened to yet:
Swish Blog Podcast
Chewing Gum Volley
There are really too many to keep up with!
