Why? This time it would probably be the whole thing with orchestral stuff, not the stripped down show that rocked a few months back...
-
Well I didnt really enjoy that show for some reason....probably, at least in part, beacause they didnt play any songs I knew.
but as the current album is stripped down won the band stay that way?
besides what reason do you need to see a band you like again and again. I take that to be an honour and a privelege.
-
To be honest, I thought that show rocked for the first time they played in a while. I did not like when they got too gospel and the rest. I knew about 1/2 the songs (those not from the new album). I am all for them coming back every month, but I don't think that will work too well...
-
yeh, they've been here three times in the past two years. too much a good thing...

you lucky ladies.
just one more time, please?
-
the band, or at least their representatives, felt it was too soon to come back, especially after the last show didn't do as well as it usually does
-
Ok thanks Seth. I would have liked to have seen them again knowing their new material. But I guess it wasnt so full last time, which was a pity.
So is it too early to get the coral back? They are bound to tour the US again sometime in the next 6 months.....

Open your own club for fuck's sake...Seth has been doing just fine without your help for the last umpteen years thank you very much.
-
Wasn't this last show pretty short notice? I nearly missed it and usually pretty up on the shows.
-
yes SirHC, I think there was only about a months notice and very lttle promotion as it was only a mini-tour. Still I feel this is flogging the dead horse.
-
Well knowing that they won't be coming is at least knowing something. And too catching the second leg might be better as they could have all the bugs sussed out.
-
I personally would rather catch them on this tour when they actually have the album out. Rarely have I attened a great show where a band was playing mostly new material (only exception that comes to mind right now is Out Hud who rocked the house even though they only played one tune from their current album)
-
on the bright side, 930 is getting mogwai soon. that's not so bad.

Don't worry Seth, it's only markie. He couldn't organize a piss up in a brewery.

I wont. I have neither the capital, nor the contacts. What is more I dont see a niche for a club of 930 size or smaller around here.
Between 930, blackcat and Velvet Lounge I am perfectly entertained. Well I would be if you booked more British bands..........

I think the area could definitely use another small club, like the Metro Cafe.

nobody I ever wanted to see played there..... Sometimes I think if the velvet lounge could be a little better organised, but then I like its heath robinson nature.

There have been several times I have seen that bands are playing at the Talking Head in Baltimore and not here and I think that they would play here if there was a venue that was right. While I love the seeing shows at the velvet lounge, I wonder sometimes how long it will be around.
And I bet if you could look back now at bands that played there, there would be a lot of shows you wish you had attended.
-
A lot of good bands played the Metro Cafe. They just played there before anybody had heard of them. Cases in point: Arlo and Ron Sexsmith. I'm sure there were many more, but I didn't pay as much attention to live shows then as I do now.
-
I believe I saw the Brian Jonestown Massacre at the Metro Cafe.

I'll agree with Rhett. There were lots of bands who played at The Metro that I wanted to see. I've even posted on this board about the shows. My problem is that I often end up missing so many, in part, because of not living in the area. If I did, I'd be out a whole lot more.
