Is there some NHL mandated rule for what side of the ice the home team shoots at twice during the game? If not, do you know which side the Carolina Hurricanes choose? I'm trying to buy hockey tickets, and if I'm going to be in a corner, I want it to be the end the Wings will shoot at twice.
By the way, unlike the Caps, the Canes (who are actually worth watching) are selling upstairs end and corners for $10.29/ticket. With shipping and fees, it's only $16/ticket. Worth the drive.

The Caps have $10 tickets the last time I checked.

Their $10 tickets are literally the back row and only right behind the goal. The Hurricanes actually have thousands of tickets at the $10 price, from what I've read.

there should be something showing that on their web page. i know that the penguins have a picture of the igloo with that side of the ice highlighted.
here's the diagram (http://www.carolinahurricanes.com/images/tickets/areana_grid800x600.gif) for the hurricanes.

well ive not checked the canes site, but a lot of them show layouts of the rinks and mark which end the team will be shooting at twice. another source would be to post on the canes message board and ask. its the same every game, and its not like they change each game. hope that helps. and i know i surely wouldnt drive somewhere to see a canes game, then again id not go out of my way to see a caps game either :)

Oh, thanks. I pull that up and missed where it was labeled.
I actually read the NHL rulebook trying to find an answer, and it depends on the layout. If the teams' benches are on seperate sides, the home team has the option every game. If they are on the same side, the home team defends first the goal closest to their bench. (This, of course, requires knowing which bench they use.)
So, anyway, thanks for the help.

Well, for me, it's 2 hours to RBC Center and 2.25 to MCI Center, so it's pretty much whoever has the better team at the time/has the team I want to see on the correct day of the week.

Caps also have thousands of seats at $10 or less.
"We will now expand our Eagles Nest section to 2,000 seats per game and launch a program where you can purchase four tickets for $20 â?? or $5 a seat. Cheaper than a movie â?? plus itâ??s a live event without a script and a predetermined ending. Hopefully this will allow us to introduce the sport to new fans and re-introduce it to others. This should remove the ticket price impediment and be the best buy in all of local sports."

just an FYI, i was able to score club level seats for the caps/bolts a couple weeks ago for $50 each (they're $90 face) from scalpers outside MCI ... the seats were really fantastic, and the club level is great ... i would strongly suggest hitting the scalpers up before you buy from the box office
