Got notice for tix in Myrtle Beach of all places for June 1st, after the remaining US/Can dates through March they're in UK-Europe through mid May so since a one-off in SC is unlikely looks like the Eastern seaboard and other spots late May to Mid June...if anyone is interested. Oh support is the Noisettes.

"Black Party.

And if the "indie-rocker" is black, does that change your calculation? The Dears, TV on the Radio, when will they be "tokens" from you're perspective?
You probably missed the "blipster" bru-ha-ha on Brooklynvegan, but I think if you continue with this line of thought you can start your own. With or without racist intent, you're really borderline but I suppose if that concerned you it wouldn't have been written.
I'd love to hear your explanation though, perhaps you could make it a two-fer and throw in a comment about BP also being the token homosexual-fronted band and really stir things up.
-
heh - that guy's a fruit?!
-
Oh wait... "Brooklynvegan" - guess you are as well!
-
Is he guy from the Dears really black? He's less black than me.

He's not african-american because he's Canadian, but in the generic sense of the term he's a person "of color" and certainly not caucasion (spell?), but that's not really your point, is it?
-
I always thought he was a dark skinned Indian, but then I read something else that implied he may be of African descent.
But he may as well be white. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Yet another act we can chalk up to appearing at V-Fest?

My favorite moment at a Bloc Party show:
The band comes out, some girl next to me says to her friend "I didn't realize he was African American"
I say "He's not, he's English."
If only you could see the confused looks on their faces.

then again, maybe you really are darker skinned than murray... or are you referring to his musical style as not being "traditionally black sounding"?

Um, I think there's some knowledge there.
-
You're obviously new. Seth books shows at the 930, DAR, Merriweather, etc.

Wow, did not know that. So Bloc Party is for sure coming to DAR on June 3rd? (I know im probably sounding like a complete idiot, but im just clarifying things).
-
yes, allow me to clarify: you do indeed sound like a complete idiot :) and yes, if seth sez that a band is playing somewhere on a specific date in DC, you can take that to the bank. sign up for the newsletters to stay in the loop about when tickets go on sale.
-
He was just throwing that date just to make us jump for joy.
lol

Well, it's just I have to plan accordingly and I need to know who's coming when. For example, If I go to Bloc Party on the 3rd, then I probably wouldn't be able to go to The Bravery on the 7th. If I do not go to bloc party on the 3rd, then I can go to Keane on the 29th of April. And since The 3rd of June is the day before the last week of school, and I have exams all week, it would make sense to go to Keane, but who do I want to see worse? It's just alot of questions to ask in a short period of time since these shows seem to sell out quickly. That's the only reason I was double checking.
-
I love this band on record...but they are quite mediocre live. I really don't see them sounding good at all in DAR.
