I don't care if jesus is playing, if you think I am going to Tennessee in june you are nuts.

after reading a bit more news on this, what i have come up with is that Radiohead had planned to play the Bonnaroo festival in Chicago at Millenium Park on June 19th. The City of Chicago, however, denied permits for this show, and Bonnaroo is looking for an alternate venue.
So does Radiohead instead agree to play at the Tennessee venue??? I dont see that happening. And unless Bonnaroo gets a new Chicago venue, i bet the Radiohead show slips by the wayside.

Bonnaroo is in Tennessee, not Chicago. The Chicago thing is separate, just a show Radiohead wanted to do, they don't like to play traditional venues.
Bonnaroo is a big festival, 80,000, this is it's 5th year. There is no other Bonnaroo venue/location.
They are playing Bonnaroo. It will be announced next week, along with the rest of the line-up.

bonnaroo is a big festival?? holy shit, i didnt know!!! thanks for the info. i did think Bonaroo was trying to do the chicago thing. they have tried to do other cities in the past (Long Island for example).
what you didnt mention about Bonnaroo is that its a hot dirty stinky hippy mess and though i cant imagine anyone liking Radiohead more than i...i doubt i would go, and it would sadden me to see them play this festival of a bunch of people who cant dance and sell crap in the parking lot to buy weed.

Long Island isn't a city.
Plenty of bands not even remotely hippie in nature have played Bonnaroo in the past.

i wasnt talking about which bands have played there in the past...when i was referring to the horrible experience i had there on 2 different occasions....

Sorry. Either I didn't read your post right or the language was confusing. You kept referring to Bonnaroo getting another venue and I just never heard it phrased that way, nor have they looked another venue. They tried to add Long Island as another festival.
Anyway, I was typing fast and just trying to state the facts, there seemed to be confusion.
Have you been to Bonnaroo?
Rhett/Charlie's right, lots more than jam bands. I had a great time and I am far from a hippie.

Unless you're going to a Belle and Sebastian show, you're going to run into a certain asshole element at any show.

yes, what i had meant by another venue , was an additional venue.
i remember them getting involved in Long Island and it falling through, as i was reading on the net today, It looked as though Bonnaroo was trying to obtain Chicago as a "2nd Bonnaroo" but you know how reading messageboards is.
either way, the nazis in Chicago said no.
i went to Bonnaroo twice, though, the 2nd time only for one of the days. not my thing AT all, and for some reason people there made me want to vomit, not to mention they werent very nice.
and it was hotter in TN at 93 degrees than Coachella was at 107.
it was just a miserable time and in my experience, the people there were what made it that way. (and the weather, lol)
glad you had a better time.

there are no assholes at Belle and Sebastian shows???? weird.

Bonnaroo is way better than Coachella for me. I can't take so many hipsters in one place. The hippie-wanna-bes who get wasted on 'shrooms and pass out half-clothed are more fun and entertaining than a bunch of cool kids who think they are on the cutting edge because they "get" good music.
Granted, I don't spend much time with the hippies, but they are more harmless to me than so-called hipsters. Wow, HIPpies and HIPsters.
Anyway, I meet more people open-minded about music at Bonnaroo than I do at any show at the Black Cat or 9:30.
Sorry you had a bad time. I'll be back again this year.

have fun with that.

I thought it was "Illinois" Nazis?

A friend of mine took a trip to Chicago and visited all of the Nazi hotspots. Not because he was one, just because he was interested in it from a historical perspective. I'm sure his black wife loved it all.

Funny to see a link to pt (one of the most unreadable message boards; especially the phish section) on here.
