So, I'm making the trip down to the much-maligned constitution hall in a few weeks for the Bright Eyes super spectacular (yes, Rhett, we know, we know...). Always managed to avoid this venue like the plague (everyone seems to hate it) but it appears to be inevitable this time. Few questions for the more knowledgable DC crowd:
Is parking easy in the area? Valet service? Also, good restaurant recommendations in the area (particular vegetarain-friendly) are appreciated. Thanks.

Actually parking shouldn't be too bad, since the area is the sort that clears out at night.
Your best bet for a veggie dinner is Nirvana at K and 19th, good all-veg indian food, it's about 7-8 blocks away. Pretty much anything is 7-8 blocks away from DAR.

Parking? Restaurants? Surely you jest!

The actual concert ranks a lowly third on my list of important details of the night:
1. not having to parallel park
2. eating
3. magic numbers

Oh, by the by, why does everyone hate this place so much? Bad acoustics or just sit-down venues in general?

Not a favorite place for me, but it depends on the band and where you are sitting. NOT a good venue for a rock show, but for something like Belle and Sebastian (where I was in the 5th row) it was fine.

ive only been there for comdey shows. going on sat to see charlie murphy and mike epps.
i had a bit trouble trying to find parking, but i was late when i went

not being able to drink while you watch a show is the biggest one for me

My priorities are:
1. Magic Numbers
2. Parking
3. Trying to figure out what to wear since you never know if it is going to be 180 or 50 degrees in there. When I saw the Pixies there it was so hot and uncomfortable.
Yea, bad venue. But I want to see Magic Numbers.

If you get there between 6:30 and 7:00, parking should be easy (a lot of the rush hour "no parking" restrictions end at 6:30 -- I usually time it to be there right at that time and usually can park within a block or two).
Another suggestion for dinner is The Bombay Club, fabulous Indian food (expensive, but one of the best Indian restaurants in the city in my estimation). It's probably 6 blocks away.

I mainly don't like sitting down for rock shows. I've only been there twice - The Strokes and the Pixies. Both times everyone around me was sitting down. I've never gotten floor seats, so that might be different. I can understand sitting for a show like Sigur Ros, but this was the goddamn Pixies. Stand up, show some respect!
And I would like to be able to drink while watching a show, not just out in the lobby...
