Haven't been to too many Black Cat shows but the one that stands out for mutual band/crowd energy would be Ash earlier this year
-
I dont know why, but these are easy to remember than the 930..... Perhaps just because I have been to fewer shows there.
Hives
Frames/New pornographers
Delgados
Libertines

I love the 9:30, but I have more fond memories at the Black Cat, I have seen way more shows there I think, and the Delgados and Cinerama (2nd show) would be a couple of my favorites as well.

Old:
the Jesus Lizard
New:
Trail of Dead (the first time they came around)
-
Sleater Kinney
Foo Fighters (Nov 16, 2002)
Both are old Black Cat. I feel like it's been a while since I've been dazzled, though New Pornographers was really good.
-
Wow, what a show. Somehow I missed it (though at the time I didn't know P.B.). Saw the Posies at the old Black Cat -- loved it, but Jon Auer pissed the shit out of me.
And Sloan as well....I should have been reading this board back then. I've been into Sloan for a couple years, and they've only played 9:30 Club since.

Old:
Spiritualized (Bassist had on a Betty Ford clinic shirt)
The Ex with Tom Cora. They did several albums together that are brilliant, and to see Tom play with them live (he is a cellist) was better than I could have hoped.
Meat Beat Manifesto. For some reason no one was there, very empty, but Jack still kicked out the jams.
New:
The Fall. Sure they had to "revive" Mr. Smith but once he was on he was on.

Wow,those guys were wild.Saw em play in a very small club in morgantown. The one dude played 2 very wild sounding horns at once and I won't even go into the haircut.Them and Butthole Surfers were cut from the same cloth me thinks.
-
The only logical thing I could think of while watching The Cows play were literally cows grazing in a field with their utters swinging back and forth. That band was crazy as hell.
-
fuckin work monster made me miss that show!

d plan, the second night this past december

-
The Friday night show of Frank Black and the Catholics on their latest fall tour, absolutely the most ROCK show I've seen him put on, and I've seen him 12 times. Second is the Drive-by Truckers.
-
Cursive - all three shows this year have been great, but this last one with the Blood Brothers was the best.
Also - New Pornographers, Ted Leo, Neko Case.
-
Afghan Whigs...old
Liquid Soul...old
The Dictators...new
The Hives...new
-
Morphine

I would have to choose between Ballboy and Spider Stacy (this will sound like if I was a 15 year old fan, but what made it even greater was that I was able to talk with Spider Stacy for a few minutes after the show and he didn't seem like thinking "oh well, another boring Pogues fan that will tell me how good the Pogues were").
-
Superchunk (several times old and new BC) and Foo Fighters in Nov, 2000 at old BC. the FF show last April at new BC was good also
-

Old Location: At The Drive -In with the Murder City Devils, Les Savy Fav and Sunshine in October 2000.
ATDI was mind blowing and the Devils set their drum set on fire. So money.
New Location: The Burning Brides with J Mascis featuring Mike Watt and Ron Ashton of the Stooges. First hour of J's set all J and Dinosaur jr. songs, second hour all Stooges songs. And any Brides show kills it for me.
-
Candy Machine, Jawbox and Girls Against Boys
Old club, excellent show.
