Andrew W.K. Heads To Town, Phone Near You
Party rocker Andrew W.K., whose second album "The Wolf," is due Sept. 9 via Island, is planning a promotion in which he will personally place a phone call to more than 1,000 fans who purchase his new album. The artist has also begun a headlining tour in advance of the new disc.
"The Wolf" can be pre-ordered via W.K.'s official Web site or Amazon.com beginning Aug. 25, and each fan to do so will receive an autographed CD booklet. The shaggy-haired pop-metal maven will personally phone each of the first 250 people to pre-order the album.
In addition, each copy of "The Wolf" will contain a unique code that can be used to log on to W.K.'s official site after its release and register for the chance to receive a phone call from the artist. For the first 10 weeks following the release date, 100 winners will be picked randomly, with the winning names posted on the site. W.K. will also post digital sound clips of the phone calls for other fans to hear.

Andrew WK says he will autograph his new CD for anyone who preorders it from his website and will call the first 250 to personally thank them.
The second Andrew WK album 'The Wolf' will be released on September 9.
Fans can log onto awkworld.com to order the record.
But wait, it doesn't end there. After the release of the album, fans can once again log into his website and use a unique identifier code on the CD. The code will register them for more calls. Andrew will pick 100 fans a week and again, they will get a personal phone-call thanking them for the purchase. The fans will have them names published in advance at the site so you will know to expect a call.

for some reason this reminds me of when i went to the rock and roll hall of fame a couple years ago and they had this John Lennon exhibit going on. Anyways, there was this random phone with a sign over it stating that Yoko Ono randomly calls the phone. If the phone rings you should answer it and talk to her about peace and love and whatever. I stayed very far away from that phone...yoko ono freaks me out.

Oh nice one GGW, now markie will have to get the stain-out for the front of his trousers!

Still doesnt make me wanna run to the stores and buy it.

I'm doing it. Autographed and the possibility of a phone call? Awesome.

They're operating under the assumption that 250 people will buy the album. That's probably double how many bought the first one.

everyone here who naysays andrew w.k. just has a huge stick up their ass. sure, his music isn't life-changing, nor is it alt country/brit pop/an ode to Man U, but it's fun and silly and makes you want to laugh. have you ever seen one guy just have so much fun doing the same thing over and over? i haven't. and i personally would love to talk to him on the phone. i'm sure it would be about partying.

>but it's fun and silly and makes you want to laugh.
The same things could be said of Weird Al Yankovick. I'll pass on him too.
>have you ever seen one guy just have so much fun doing the same thing over and over?
Yes, and I've been doing it for going on 25 years.

if anyone wants to talk to mr. wk, all you have to do is come to a show. the man will talk to the entire audience after the show if they stick around. he's incredibly friendly. i've only seen one person who is as interested in actually talking to his fans, and that's jerry only.

One time you should come and join in the frivolities yourself, Mankie. Although the night he plays 930 is also the same night Ted Leo plays blackcat..........
You like Thin Lizzy, right?

Weird Al and AWK are just a bit different in my opinion.. W.K. doesn't take songs that are popular and parody them. So boo to that idea, rhett.
re: having fun, i will clarify.. i mean just having fun playing music like it's his first big show and he couldn't be any happier. he high kicks, jumps around and basically wears himself out just because he can. and he has the crowd all up on the stage with him too (at warped tour he did at least) -- smiling the whole time. so stop being so frigid and just enjoy the fun times. :p

Has anybody listened to a band called Ten Benson? It sure has the same silliness and metalrockish sound of AWK IMHO.Nobody's Wife is one catchy song.
