yeah...so I'm in local yahoo chat...and this *ahem* yahoo is scrolling this:
PeopleWatcher: A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS HAVE RE-UNITED AFTER 20+ YEARS TO TOUR THE U.S.A.!!! SO FAR, THE BAND IS BOOKED ON THE WEST COAST. WE NEED TO GET THEM EAST! CALL THE 9:30 CLUB 202-265-0930 ASK FOR BOOKING MANAGER LISA WHITE VOICE MAIL AND TELL HER TO BOOK THE BAND. CALL AGAIN & AGAIN!!!
I just thought it quite humourous. Anyone else pity Lisa?
-
i pity the delete key on her voice mail....
actually it's a shame that the lead dude is involved , after seeing the bands reunited show i think the other three guys in the band were cooler...
-
I thought they they were there not that long ago with Berlin and that bill. I don't think that all of the original members were there, but still. And I don't think that show was close to selling out.
On another note, I heard that Vixen is one of the bands that will be featured on the new episodes of Bands Reunited. And tix aren't sold to this, they are given out. A friend of mine is a PA in LA and she was given tix to the show. So all those people aren't there because they bought tix when you see the thing on TV.
-
Yeah Flock of Seagulls came here last year with Berlin and Modern English. It didnt sell out but it was at least half full. Flock of Seagulls were actually the worst of the three that night.
I also can't believe that someone wants to see a band at the 9:30 Club and got dissed for it, she just wants to have fun and see what looks to be her favorite band, oh wait, we diss everyone all the time, but thats usually when they post on this board, not on another site, I see nobody is safe from our wrath. :)

Do you really think 'The Flock' would've been anything other than a flash in the pan without the silly haircut?
-
Gotta love those British haircuts.

Good point, but at least it's not a #2 on the sides and back with a #4 on top, which seems to be the only style available over here.

Flock of Seagulls that has been touring (and that played the Club with Berlin) had only one original member, Mike Score, lead singer and former hair stylist. Ditto to Berlin, which only had Terri Nunn of the original lineup.
I wonder it the 'reunited band' in the Yahoo post is really the original members reuniting...
-
Why are we talking about Flock of Seagulls?
:D

rob, you don't understand. I am "dissing" them because they scrolled the room in gigantic font begging for everyone to call the 9:30 Club to get them to play. There are a lot of bands I'd like to see here, but you don't see me acting like a pornbot to get them there. It gets in the way of those of us who are looking for sex.
-
I think The Flock Of Seagulls have actually played the club...but I ran, I ran so far away! ;)

Well why didnt you say so??????????? Heck, If they were doing crap like that while I was looking for sex, then I'd be a little ticked off also. I hope you didnt lose any potentials because of that idiot. ;)

Fortunately no one has called me about this yet. I'm pretty sure I have spoken with that individual, who is completely obsessed with them and not in a good way. He's called me a number of times about this already.
For the record, the show last summer with Berlin, Modern English and A Flock of Seagulls did sell out, but not because AFOS were on the bill. The band that's touring now is not the same band, it is original members and hopefully sounds a lot better than the version of the group we heard last summer.

Are you sure his obsession is with the 'Flock' and not you twangirl.....I bet he has a photograph, a photograph of you, something to remind him, so he doesn't spend his time just wishing........ ;)

sorry about all of this... someone changed my JAXX speed dial to the 9:30 club as some sort of sick prank

Clever, but I doubt it.
This guy has been harrassing their agent as well, leaving long-winded voicemails for him similar to the yahoo post.
"Fan" is after all the root word of "fanatic".

Since you brought it up.... :D
Is there one band you can think of that has the craziest/oddest fans? You know, you see that they're booked and you think, "okay, I'll need a lot of rest before that show...."
