Was in Old Town for the first time in a while this weekend and noticed that Record Mart/Lunadisc had shuttered. Kind of a funky old place with a pretty erratic stock, so I'm not shocked it closed, but still a bit sad...picked up a few nice things there. It was the kind of odd store that I went to so infrequently that I often wondered if I had imagined it.

Can't say I'm surprised.
Good place to browse for really cheap vinyl, but that was about it.

Strange. I was there a month ago and didn't know it had even re-opened after Record Mart closed. The store clerk said they had been open for 3 years. Shows where I've been. Ah well, too bad about the closing -- I have a lot of good high school memories there. I Expect most if not all these used CD places to shut down.

The guy who ran the store was definitely a music lover, but he didn't appear to have the greatest business sense. The store didn't accept credit cards for at least a year.

ugh i feel like every time i hear about a great record store in old town, it's closed by the time i get around to checking it out. and i end up buying my music at borders when i would rather support a smaller, more interesting enterprise.

I went there a couple days before it closed and the owner let me have some of the posters and such off the walls. He was super nice.
