Unless theres a last minute decision by the band NOT to have DJ, I'll be DJing this one tonight. Either way, I'll be there.
Feel free to stop by the booth to say hi.

I thought this was a thread for a sex party at bearman's house.
-
it dawned on me that the club is hosting back to back Welsh acts... seeing as Mr. Jones has no shows on his schedule today, wonder if he'll come out and join Gruff and the rest of the furries.
-
cymru am byth!
i'll be there.
-

Just in case you didn't know Caribou is the new name for Manitoba, the new album is fantastic as was the Manitoba album from, what was it, 2003? Never seen him live though - but I think I heard he tours with a band...

HA! No...I don't do sex parties. I'm rather taken these days, ironically with someone that I met at the 9:30. Any other couples out there that met at the Club?

Speaking of which...I've been meaning to tell Fico that they were playing a few Cartel tracks at Iota at the recent Fleshtones gig.

Nice one...Brennser the disc I gave you yesterday has a remix of fleets and 2 other songs we recorded over the late summer...plans are to go back to the studio and cut about 4 new tracks in January or February and mixing a couple of others from the summer sessions...so February should see some new material for Cedars..in the meantime DC9 on 11/19 and Black Cat 12/16...

A thread about Super Furry Animals ends up talking about a band that likes Oasis. Let's stick to the issue. How was the show?

Show was quite good...felt the vocales and sound mix were a tad low...but maybe that's just me going deaf...they played a good hour and paused for their encore which lasted 45minutes...a good super furry show.

was the man dont give a fuck the last song? i had to leave in the middle of that one.

yep. the "closing credits" on the video screen after they walked off was a nice touch.
"zoom" (1st track from new album) was so f*cking good. really enjoyed the show.

I thought the show was decent - a very mellow vibe to the first hour which pulled heavily from the new CD - livened up for the encore which was mainly older stuff

surprised no one has mentioned caribou's set? maybe no one was there for that? well, i missed maybe the first 5 mins of their set, but was right up in front. it was a tight set, and not knowing how they sounded was beyond pleasantly surprised. reminded me of shoegaze meets 60's psychedelic rock. seems they played a solid 45 mins. the 2 guys on drums were incredible, feeding off of each other. was a great opener for SFA.
[rant]cant stand how so many people in front think its perfectly acceptable to talk in regular toned voices over the set! go to the back of the room or just shut up! i certainly didnt pay money to hear you talk about your parents and girlfriends or whatever you feel is so damn important. i dont care if i pay 15$ or 60$ give the artist some f'ing respect![/rant]
as for SFA, it was my first time seeing them. a friend in scotland kept telling me i had to see them or he'd come here and kill me. loved the visuals on the screen. started with mostly their new stuff (as others mentioned), and i def. think their new stuff works better live. played a solid hour before they took their break.
the encore sent the crowd into a frenzy (at least the front where i was), and everyone was jumping/dancing/ having a great time, singing along. their early stuff def. won the crowd over. the encore was a tight 45 min set. must say that the whole bush/govt video was rather funny. of cousre, if i were pro-bush, well id probably not have been laughing. anyway slagged the govt and what not. fitting on election day no less. the show impressed me beyond anything i expected. went in, not even sure id stay the entire night, but had a great time! couldnt have asked for a better show and both these bands complemented each other quite nicely!

Muy buena respuesta, sin caer en la tentación de responder al mensaje que contenía un pequeño tono crítico en plan broma respecto a Cartel.

Tranquilo...no soy Rhett :)

I wouldn't be surprised if someone paid to hear about insert-girlfriend/boyfriend, and insert-law school. It isn't like they had anything better to do that evening, but I get that. It's the timing of those of conversations that bothers me, especially when they occur during the set. A sea of cellphones and no one thinks to get all that stuff out before the show starts? After the show? In between sets?
Put those minutes to work.
-
I passed out after work and didn't arise till after 9 and said the hell with it! This work stuff gets in the way of my good time!
-
show was ace, but they always are. i think too much of their new stuff is lumped together in the beginning which makes the show lull a bit. but the new stuff is beautiful live. the crowd was lame. i had people standing around me motionless after songs like ice hockey hair and something 4 the weekend. obviously andriods of some sort.
