Well hello, I am struggling to find my way around here now.... Its like someone came in whilst I was out and moved all my furniture.
Anyway it is the mighty talented Ian McCulloch tonight.
Who is going?
I know I am, well unless it sells out. Is there any news on the tickets front?

sorry, but i am going to a free scotch tasting event, with free food as well.
-
Free food and booze eh?
Just dont call it scotch in scotchland or else they will look at you funny.
Sorry, but I have never seen Ian. His new single is pretty decent too, as it happens.
-

I've heard that advance sales are low, so you don't need to worry about a sell-out. Let's go out and support Ian. I'm up for it!

They spell it Whisky in Scotland.... but I feel progree is beaing made. Anyone see that glacier move?
Sorry none for me I want to go and see what his openers are like and I am always nervous when I dont have a ticket that if I turn up late it will sell out......Plus I think Bungle Bud is in tow? where is BB?
-
yep i will be there, might be late, so bring me cds and i will bring yours, im driving into dc.
-
bugger, dont bring the cds ive just been roped into doing a load of work, looking like i wont be there, so if i dont make it i will exchange the cds at kosmos party.
i saw the bunnymen years ago!
-
Ahhh Bungle Bud, you complete git. I missed your post and had to carry those freeking CDs all night..... I almost sold them at CD game exchange today to extract revenge, but all they offered me was a used RATT album and 50 cents.
So what did anyone think of the show. I was shocked at how empty the club was. I really thought Ian McCulloch would be a big draw. I guess I have not even noticed that the 80s are over, apparently nor had most of the 200 "strong" crowd.
I thought he put on a fine show. His voice is great and some of the old songs are brilliant. I did think the velvet underground/Lou Reed covers were a bit odd, considering how many great songs Ian has written himself.
Still I enjoyed rocking out like an embarassing parent to "waiting for my man" if thats what is called? Thirsty?

If it was 50 Cent, then you've got yourself a deal.

Ah, I remember the good old days, when 50 cents was just half a dollar, Michael Jackson was black and Rock Hudson was a sex symbol....
What happened to those days?
-
it was all fields around here you know, a thousand apologies markie, i bet you looked like a right plonker carrying those lovely cds.
-
gee thanks Bungle. I guess I looked less of a plonker than I would have if I had been standing next to you.....
you missed a good show. BTW do you ever read/answer/reply to your email?
-
er...no, but for you i shall make an effort,i also dont pick up my phone when it rings or answer the door when someone knocks, but i always turn round when someone shouts "wanker".
-
WANKER!!!!!
so why didnt you like the delgados?
-
yes, i dont dislike it, its just not kicked me in the balls, its okay, abba are okay, status quo are not.
-
because Status Quo are great???
come on, join in for a chorus of Matchstick men and Matchstick cats and dogs......

It sums up the poor state of the American music listening public when Pete Yawn and Jack-off Johnson can sell out a venue, and the whole country is glued to the telly to watch some fat bastard sing some Neil Sedaka song against a homo singing some other pile of shit.... but guitar god's like Johhny Marr and talents such as McCulloch can only get a handful of people to show up...and you wonder why some bands skip this city completely. I hope Robbie Williams gets huge over here...because they deserve it!
-
So Mankie, why werent you at McCulloch? To busy watching search for talentless person?
The new Robbie Williams album is so bad the only thing it deserves to break is EMI's bank. He is alright though...Better than Jonson and Yawn, for sure

I was in Dallas or I would've most certainly been at McCulloch.
Did you go to Johnny? That was a disgrace also as far as attendance
-
the whole thing about american idol is that there is perception that being able to sing LOUDLY with lots of "Emotion" is what passes for talent these days. at least in the pop music arena... or being able to jump around like trained monkey doing bland r 'n b songs.

Does anyone know why that fat git has 205 on everything he wears? That bumblardie has got to be at least 350.

No Johnny for me. We went to Saloon, had two beers, yes you heard that correctly. Jadetree fell asleep and Poorlulu flaked out.
I almost went by myself, I kinda wish I had, but he was only here 3 months ago....
-
i'm a sad git for knowing this and even sadder git because i got the info from entertainment weekly....
205 is the area code for his hometown of Birmingham, Alabama. 205 Flava is a local clothing compan which supplies him with his shirts... needless to say they are counting the benjamines these days!

You should've gone to Johnny on you're own, there were three of us lads there and we had a laugh.
We went to Polly's for ONE! What's up with a pint of flat and stale Guiness and a nasty watered-down pint of Bass for $14.40??? Last time in that shit hole I can tell you. If they're going to fuck you royally on the beer, the least they could do is not look at you like you're being a pain in the arse when trying to get a pint and therefore interrupting them from talking and laughing with the regulars. Then we walked down towards the Black Cat and stopped off at some bar just a block up 14th on a corner. Didn't realize it was a gay bar until one of the blokes at the bar handed us a pack of playing cards with pictures of naked men with stiff willies. We decided Chris looked the gayest of the three of us so we tried to find a nice boy for him. Loads of "Graces" in there too looking for their gay roommates I suppose. Anyway it's a good bar if you're not a homophobe. Went in the redroom looking at all those who enjoy being looked at while having a pint, then off upstairs once the support band had finished. Johnny did about an hour and got the hell out of there, can't say I blame him though. Not a very responsive crowd and a small crowd at that.
-
I knew I should have gone....
You make it sound like a fun night.
How could you not realise that bar was a gay place? Was it really full of Graces? Might be worth checking out afterall....
I have been a bit diasappointed with pollys too.
$20 for a pitcher that does not hold four pints is a bit on the steep side. The saloon is the new pre show beer place, the shame is their food is a bit average.......

i prefer the food at the saloon actually...........and jadetree and i told you countless time to go to johnny marr so stop blaming us...................
flake
-
Not only was it full of Graces....good looking Graces at that. If a man was so inclined, he could go in there acting gay, then start talking to the chickie-babes because I can only assume they go there to hang around with gay blokes. Then get a couple of phone numbers to go to a Cher concert or Broadway show or something and gradually work his way into their pants...and once you're in...you're in! ;)
-
mankie, so that was you i saw at johnny marr. i was waiting outside for a friend and 3 english guys walked by me and i thought one was you, but wasn't certain at the time.
what's this gay bar? saint ex? i thought it was mixed? or were you at hamburger marys? cuz that's definitely full of gay men and the girls that love them.

Were you outside waiting for someone or trying to sell their ticket? One of our lot bailed on us at the last minute so I sold his ticket at the door and spoke to a lady there who had been waiting longer so I offered for her to sell her ticket first. Was that you?
I don't remember the name of the bar but it's right on the corner of 14th and somethingorother street on the same side as the Black Cat, about 2 blocks up towards U. I assumed it was all gay or they wouldn't have thought we were gay and shown us pic's of men waving their schlongs at us. The doorman is a tall skinny bloke with a bald head and lamb chop sideburns....which looks utterly stupid by the way.
-
yep, i think that was me. sounds like you were at saint ex. always thought it was a mixed crowd, but if they were handing out playing cards with naked men, with no naked women, me thinks perhaps it caters to a gay crowd. but perhaps its gay night on friday night now that the panic parties are no longer being held there?
-
what is it with women and gay men? My wife wants a gay best friend too. I'm assuming it's because there's no sexual tension whatsoever. Men and gay women don't have the same thing do they...we'd only hang out with them because of the slim chance we'd see them kissing each other or they'd give us a show in the bedroom.
-
well there are fag hags, straight women who hang out with gay guys... i read recently about fag stags, straight guys who hang out with gay guys. straight guys who like to cut loose at a gay dance club once in awhile. behavior which in a straight club would be considered gay, but other straight guys. and to be able to pickup fashion and decorating tips. it's also easier for a straight guy to pickup a straight women in a gay bar. women have their guard down there and are more approachable.
-
well I am no "fag stag" but will admit the atmosphere in a gay bar is usually much better than in a straight bar.
-
FUCK! Echo & The Bunnymen PLUS Velvet Underground?? ugh I wanted to go to that show so bad...now I really wish I had just gone :( damn it all to hell
well, I think I'm going to see Rooney tomorrow, what's anyone got to say on them? or Feeder? or the opener?
