What's up with this? PJ Harvey is coming to the U.S. and no D.C. date, no 9:30 club date? Price shouldn't be the determining factor here and she has time for at least one or two dates on her way from the east to the west coast!
Unacceptable.
We need a petition. The 9:30 club date will probably be announced by email this week.

She's only touring the two largest cities of the US at this time. A petition won't help.

wow, nice first post
PJ is only playing two dates: new york and los angeles. you might not be aware of this, but DC isn't quite in their league. she isn't dissing just DC, she is skipping the whole country. this isn't an extensive tour.
petition denied.

Love his passion, though!

true dat, but would you be saying the same thing if someone wanted to started a similar petition for, say, panic at the disco? :p
FYI, vegas bookies are offering 1:1 odds that you'll bail on the NYC show.

I would definitely want a PJ Harvey date in DC, even if its nearly impossible...last time I saw her was in '04, thats too long

Passion?
It's all a little strange to me, this huge PJ Harvey "fan" wants to start a petition to bring her to DC yet doesn't have any clue about the reasons why she will NOT be coming, nor seemingly has made any effort to go see her where she is playing?
It's 2007, the US is still mostly a free country, we have fairly reliable transportation, how the phuck is this a crisis?
Better question is after lurking around the site for over a year, THIS well discussed topic is the one that inspires enough outrage to ask for a call to arms?
Polly thinks... <img src="http://www.sloanphotography.co.uk/images/pjharveygreyscale150.JPG" alt=" - " />

didn't she say a few years ago that she was going to stop touring entirely?

Touring, yes. Playing live, no. Several pubs misquoted her, she said she didn't think she would ever do the type of world touring she had done throughout her career to that point ever again.
NME and the like ran with it, "PJ Harvey will never tour again," which while technically true, was misused and misinterpreted to mean she'd never grace a stage again...well obviously the true sentiment is being demonstrated.

I have an extra pair of tickets for Wednesday's sold-out show in NYC. If interested, pm me.

I've always wanted to see her play "Rub 'Til It Bleeds". God, that song is unreal.

Soooo...if you were an NYC PJ Harvey fan and you WEREN'T in attendance last night...you dropped the ball some kind of major.
Powerful, haunting, RAW, intense, surreal. Just pick one of those and apply it to the show where needed.
It was worth the trek up from DC, and it was a total EXPERIENCE.
The new stuff sounds SO GOOD live, and if anyone thought the album was "boring" and "dull", you best take your ass to the live show, pronto! She would go from singing really gut-wrenching lullabies about killing her child to having this huge grin on her face. She became a whole new prescence on stage, humble and eerie, but engaging and talented no less!
SUCH a good show.

I'm not surprised...PJ is awesome. I just kind of wish she'd pick up a guitar again and rock the fucking shit out of us. The last great rock record she was on was the Desert Sessions LP with Queens of the Stone Age. Maybe she can team up with Josh again.
