i know they aren't anything spectacular, but was it just me or did they completely steal the show last night from hot hot heat and louis xiv? i just felt both of the headliners, while entertaining and talented, left something to be desired, whereas wsc put on a spectacular flawless and all around fun rock show.
maybe it was just me. they just keep getting better and better every time i see them and last night was no exception.

The Washington Social Club is quite the enjoyable band. I saw them opening for Presidents of the USA and they were fantastic.

I agree -- it was SO friggin' awesome to see them at the 930 with such GREAT sound. It's not that they're my favorite band, I don't listen to the album all that much, but their shows are just great, and they are getting better each time. Worth dealing with the crowd for their 35 minute set alone.
As for HHH, I enjoyed the show a lot -- I had quite a bit of bourbon in me by then, though. :D But, they are another band that lends itself to a good time. Dude, that guy's hair has gotten OUT of control, though.
Louis XIII was good as well, but like the boiled ham in a sandwich on really great whole grain bread -- the bread's so good, you'd be happy with just a bread sandwich.
All the bands were at DC9 later, which had a good-size crowd going, good tunes. I love weekend 930 club shows that allow for heading to DC9 until the wee hours.

every time I see WSC, I am impressed. In a musical world crowded with popsters, they somehow manage to sound fresh. Plus they seem like really nice people. They are truly something DC can be proud of.

I found Louis XlV kind of boring, they didn't really bring it. As for Washington Social Club I was really surprised, the guys seemed pretty "normal" and human and they have been such great openers. But Hot Hot Heat were the burners - I was totally overwhelmed by their performance and I enjoyed the whole set although I just knew a few songs of them. The frontman Steve seems to be pretty cool, not just because of his out-of-control-hair.
Question: What's the DC9??
-
I went to that show, and I can tell you I wasn't disappointed. It was great show.

Walk south on 9th St. from the 930 club for about 1 block (just below U)....on west side. It has live music/dj's upstairs and the best jukebox in DC downstairs! Great hangout, and really friendly crowd/staff, but - alas - no pizza. www.dcnine.com (http://www.dcnine.com)

Pizza is not far away!

I'm super pissed I missed them. I've really been getting into them since I saw them open for PUSA. Great band.

You'll have several chances to see them, they play pretty frequently (though not at the 9:30 Club...that was special).

I am 19! It really sucks, I mean, I am originally from Germany and back home I was allowed to drink in / enter bars. Here I have so much limited things to do just because I am not 21.
