"Devil's Food chocolate cupcake filled with vanilla butter-cream, topped with chocolate frosting, dipped in ganache"
kinda like a hostess cupcake? devil's food, butter-cream filling, chocolate frosting = yum!!!!
-
i would have guessed the cost to be double digit, but it's not
-
they'll probably sell out before the casual fans show up

I've been to the Black Cat on more than one occasion just for the food. Best nachos in DC.
-
obligatory Birchmere food reference....
-
I think I was the starter of that whole Birchmere food thing. I was blindly trying to figure out if they served food, how heinous it was, etc. because I was working late and didn't have time to eat dinner before a show I was seeing there...so worst case scenario would it be edible. Not like I was going there FOR the food. Buncha smartasses that you all are!! :)

From the comments on the article:
Bets on first person to get hit with a cupcake? I have 1000-1 on that bouncer who gets profiled every year or so for looking all mean and all.
I don't think that person understands how odds work.
-
More likea million to one that anybody would throw anything at him.

yeah, they're cheaper than a bottle of water (<-prices went up recently :-\)
on hot summer nights I wished for ice cream but thought it'd be too messy...

CUPCAKES YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
We recently got the Cupcake Stop in NYC (http://www.CupcakeStop.com/), and I've been way spoiled.
I'll get a 930 cupcake at the Grizzly Bear show.
-
You're in BK so fucking often now that a handle change is necessary.
You'll be at GB? Awesome! I was afraid you didn't get a ticket.
-

I know, but it's sorta nasty.
Everyone complains about $9 Guinness, I figure I'd mention the $4 water bottle that is cost of a case.
Maybe they could test the ice cream cart...(popsicles, fruit bars, sandwiches, Dove bars...not scoops)
My friend has been twittering about the cupcake stop in NYC!
-
y'all can have your cupcakes. . .we have the creme brulee cart (http://hoodscope.wordpress.com/2009/05/04/street-food-redefined-the-creme-brulee-cart/). he's found near the Magic Curry Kart in the Mission. both are on twitter.

Damn, I really need to get home and eat a fruit bar. :P

"The 9:30 Club will debut a signature cupcake this weekend, during -- get this -- two sold-out CAKE shows. And speaking of sold-out cake: "As we will never sell day-olds, we have to under-order every show," 9:30 Club owner Seth Hurwitz in a release. "We expect this will create a secondary cupcake market for scalpers.""
hahaha

I'll definitely buy cupcakes the next time I'm there! Cool idea. (And great quote from Seth!)

LOVE IT!

I've still got my coupon from this past weekend. Need to remember to snag one tonight.

I'm no doctor, but that has infection written all over it.
-
No, that's only if you go with the street corner knock-offs.
LOVE both the concept and that poster!!!! I certainly hope that's real and not just some internet fun.
Hope they have little white (black would be even better!) bags for those of us who might like to buy several after the show to go.
-
if you wait that long they'll be gone

trust me it's real. you can see the chocolate icing on my ear. took some work to get it out of my beard too.

a delicious infection!

That was indeed one of the best cupcakes I've had in a while.
-
I usually get one every time I visit. At the Wed. Thievery Corp show, I wound up with an extra one(!) but was stopped on my way out. The staff told me I couldn't take it out of the venue. What gives?

the club has a very strict anti-scalping policy. this includes the re-selling of 930 cupcakes.
also, i believe there might be some licensing issues. the club can only use its logo on foodstuffs inside the venue. last i heard the lawyers are still working on it.
-
Perhaps there is a secret ingredient that makes them so good; one that Seth doesn't want falling into the wrong hands similar to the Crabby Patties from Spongebob.
<insert Seth/Mr. Krabs Photoshop hybrid here>
-
ABC laws. The cupcakes are really rumcakes.

there is no such policy...perhaps you were mistakenly identified as a Live Nation employee trying to sneak one out to copy
in any event, you will be contacted for your free makeupcake...you may take it wherever you wish

Any possibility the 9:30 Club could expand its cupcake line to include yellow/vanilla cake and vanilla frosting, with "9:30" written in chocolate frosting?
It's probably mainly because I'm not a chocolate cupcake fan, but my feeling with the 9:30 Club cupcakes so far has been that they look better than they taste.
Nonetheless, I was a little bummed out when one of the female singers from Zero 7 not only hijacked my dressing room while I was doing my opening set for them in November, but also apparently ate the two cupcakes that had been there upon my arrival. Oh well....

I'm no cupcake connoisseur, and I've only had one, but I thought it was delicious.

If this thread keeps going the way it's going, Seth is going to be handing out SO MANY vouchers for replacement cupcakes by the end of the week...
-
I think I posted this in another thread but they're so much better chilled for a bit.
I had one once that seemed to have been in the fridge no less than two minutes prior. The icing was nowhere nearly as gooey which made the cupcake more manageable/less messy. There is also a slight difference in taste between cold and warm icing as strange as that sounds.
-
i heard that cupcakes were out . . . mini milkshakes are in.

You're so wrong. Cupcakes are out DOUGHNUTS are IN!
-
You're both wrong. It's all about pot brownies.
Which the club should roll out once this medicinal pot thing goes into effect in D.C.
