Next Saturday at 10 am.

So the big question becomes....general admission? I freaking hope so.
-
huge venue for these bands..couldnt they have picked something a little smaller?

i doubt it, how many times have riots broken out at Belle and Sebastian shows??? i doubt merriweather wants to risk another......well, i am sure something rowdy happened at one of their shows sometime.
-
B & S fans = Rowdy....funny stuff

no, i was totally joking. in fact, B&S is one of the rare shows i would like to have an place to sit during!
-
Wow, this is the first I've heard of this show too. I'll have to make sure to get tickets.
-
Their 930 shows in March were pretty upbeat affairs & with B S S & Ted Leo.... GA seems like the way to go..
-
Any pre-sale information out there?

Also there will an internet pre-sale via Music Today starting Wed May 3rd at
10am, a password may be required that we'll provide very soon.
Quoted from belleandsebastian.com.
Does anyone have an experience with Merriweather presales? Will I have an equal chance of getting better seats in the presale and the regular sale or does one of them usually yield better seats? I vaguely remember the presale for the White Stripes giving out crap seats.
Or I could totally be making that all up. I'm praying for GA anyway.

i got orchestra pit tickets from the musictoday presale for that show.
-
musictoday presales give out GREAT seats, but there aren't a lot of them. they usually put about 10-15% of the seats onsale, but they are the best of the best, so if this is a seated show and you want good seats, you better get them in the presale.
-
How do you sign up for Music Today? It wouldn't let me join without the name and password of a "street team member"
-
I was able to sign up (the street member name is optional, and it's asking you to choose your own password), but didn't see anything about the b&s presale. Anyone have a link or password yet?
-
I can't even find where to sign up.... :(

no word here on ticket prices or whether it's GA or not
this should be the show of the summer, have a bunch of friends coming in for it ... i'm guessing i'll just score lawn seats from the club on Saturday to avoid Ticketmaster fees on a bunch of tix ... no chance of this selling out, right?
-
http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/15003CA2BAD1E3A5?artistid=783750&majorcatid=10001&minorcatid=60 (http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/15003CA2BAD1E3A5?artistid=783750&majorcatid=10001&minorcatid=60)
$30-45 ... i assume that means $30 for lawn and $45 for the pit/orchestra seats
-
I am pretty sure it's assigned seating in pavilion, lawn of course is GA. At least the e-mail from B&S implied that there were seats. Should be an awesome show, I'm missing it to see them in LA with the LA Philharmonic and the Shins opening!
-
Belle and Sebastian's second email said 45 dollars pit and seated pavilion and 30 dollars lawn.
-
Any word on ticket limit? I'm trying to score a bunch of those standing tickets. .
-
They just listed it on the Music Today site. The presale is tommorrow at 10AM.
What do you guys think would be better? Pit or seats?
-
so, what is lawn seating like at merriweather? i've never been and i'm leaning towards the cheaper seats right now....but if they totally suck then I guess I'll spend the extra cash for reserved seating.
-
the lawn isn't that bad, to tell you the truth, but if you want to actually see the bands and are concerned about weather and the like, spring for the extra 15 bucks (especially if you can get in on the presale)
-
Lawn is fine. Merriweather has a great sound. But, if it rains, you're screwed.
And, Belle and Sebastian fans can get pretty rowdy. Did anyone go to the Constitution Hall show a few years back when they played w/ Sleater Kinney? The people in the front were nuts!
-
definitely spend the money on the pavilion. unless, you dont get tickets til like 3 days before the show and can see the weather report.
cause when it rains and you're on the lawn....its not cool, at all.
-
well that was easy...
-
Yep.
-
Yep.
-
why cant Radiohead tickets be that easy!
-
cause WASTE isnt involved?
-
i'm assuming the GA floor refers to the part in front of the stage, right? i really hope its not too cramped up there.
-
I got my ticket!
-
I got two GA Floor tickets. Never thought I'd be spending $99 for B&S tickets...but oh well.
-

It's not bad at all. Been to several sold out shows down there and never had a problem. And this is coming from someone who really doesn't like being cramped.
-
I got reserved tixs third row back dead center...good stuff, lol
-
Yeah I got 4th dead center. Haven't been to Merriweather in 7 years or so.
-
How much does the GA floor hold???
-
belle and sebastian people said something about being able to get will call tickets at 930 office... is that possible?
-

Yeah, you can buy tickets to IMP shows at the box office for $1 service charge, but not until they go on general sale on Saturday.

i think its about twice that.
-
the two options for the presale were reserved and ga floor - that means pit, correct? just making sure.
-
I got some pit tickets. I'm really excited for this show.
-
Never mind.

That was easy. And there are still tickets left, if I'm not mistaken. I picked up some pit tickets, should be an amazing show.
-
what's the password??????
-
oh duh
:p
-
i bought 2 floor tickets, but it said "reserved floor seating" but no seat numbers. is this GA?
-

Well, I just spent $116 on two floor tickets. My fault for missing the Musictoday presale. They really do a better job with the service charges, don't they!!
Speaking of, the 9:30 Club presale was thru Ticketmaster. Could you still get tickets for this at the 9:30 Box Office, then?
-
holy shit...an additional $17 worth of service charges? sooooo glad i got in on the initial presale!!
-

Yes, I believe you can get tickets to all Merriweather and IMP events at the 9:30 box office, as well as tickets for Sonar shows.

i'm planning on going down this weekend and picking up a bunch of lawn tickets ... no way this thing sells out, right?

Not even close. There are still floor seats left. If you want reserved, you can get still get in the first 10 rows behind the pit. I know it's early, but it doesn't look like people are rushing to get tickets for this one.
-
Maybe they should add Radiohead to the bill.

yeah, but Broken Social Scene and Ted Leo won't be on that bill...plus, if you add up transportation costs of going to NYC (including bridge tolls), the cost is the same..maybe more :)
-
the pavilion (seats) will definitely sell out
explain to me why anyone would wait to buy tickets if they want to go and they're concerned about it selling out
-
Yes, but then you're in beautiful, bustling NYC and not some pavillion in the burbs.

i thought you preferred the burbs rhett.

I like living in the burbs, but if I'm going to seek entertainment, I'm going to seek out something different than my everday default existence.
Besides, if I lived in a more exciting city than DC, I'd probably choose the city over the burbs.

i'm buying 8 lawn tickets.
if i buy right now on ticketmaster, i get hit with $72.40 in fees ... if i go to the club to pick them up, i have about $8 in fees
i really want to go to this show, so i'm a bit concerned about it selling out before i pick up my tickets, but i know from past experience that, even if the show does sell out all its lawn tickets in the next week or two (not likely), i'll still be able to get lawn seats from craigslist or at the show for face value (without the charges), or even below face
so i weigh that with the $64.40 i would save by waiting to buy my tickets until i come by the club, and it seems like a pretty reasonable decision to me
-
i really don't think the lawn will sell out.
-
Personally, I can't imagine this show not selling out! All three bands tend to have tons of people falling all over themselves in this neck of the woods. In fact, I'm surprised there are still tickets available. But, maybe the masses have had their fill for awhile. ...nah!
Hoya, I understand your concern and don't blame you one bit. Good luck!

However there is overlap between fans... and the biggest audience at one show for B&S was at that venue which shall not be named.

i know ted leo and B&S sold out 9:30 club, did BSS sell it out?
i agree with you about the audience overlap, but i also have another crazy idea ... i'd say a good chunk of the fans of these bands who went to these sold out shows are city dwellers who arrived by public transportation / cab, and that they may not have a car to get out to the 'burbs for a show ... or maybe there just isn't enough demand for merriweather for these three ... either way, it'll be a great show, and i'd actually prefer fewer people ...

Anyone else going to LA for the Philharmonic show? The Shins are opening...for me, that's a more attractive show. I haven't seen the Shins since their Black Cat shows.

Does anybody here other than you be betty fly to LA to see rock shows?

I went to L.A. for 14 hours once, to see The Soft Boys one last time. I was a mess for a week afterwards, but I have no regrets.

I've flown to San Francisco a few times for shows. Not in years though.

i drove from Toronto to Florida for a rave party once! beat that lame shit!

I drove to Baltimore to see a couple of different shows.

Vegas for REM/Wilco and, separately, for U2.

When did you see them last ?.... & if you say something like 1998 its pretty irrelevant ...

I saw them in NYC in March. My wife fell asleep, and I was pretty bored myself. They were just too fey and faggotty.

soot123, don't mind Charlie (or Rhett as his previous log-in used to be). Some of us here are of that persuasion that he refers to, and we have learned to just ignore comments like that, even if they are inappropriate. He's not trying to be mean...he's just blunt about his opinions. I avoid a term like "fag" because it's a word with negative associations, and I just don't think that there should be acceptance of words like it, but Belle and Sebastian shows do attract a large-ish number of gays. But then again, we're there at every show, even stuff like Ministry. Just take a look, it's not hard to find. If it is a problem then they should probably listen to Insane Clown Posse and go to one of their shows.
-
Soot, if it makes you feel any better, Rhett is an equal opportunity offender. That's just his way. If you stick around long enough, and you should ;) , you'll see that everyone gives him shit just like he shits on everyone else so it balances out in the end. After awhile, you'll sort regard him as like the local retard working outside some store. You notice that something isn't quite right there but you try to ignore it and accept him for who he is. Except the retard can't help the way he is but Rhett chooses to be that way.
-
You thought Ted Leo was awful live? Wow. I've seen him twice and enjoyed it both times.

Yeah, I don't think I've ever heard anyone in the history of time say they didn't like ted leo live. And, Belle and Sebastian at the 930 club show was 100x better than I thought it was going to be. Charlie or Rhett, I don't know what you're expecting when you go to these concerts. You hoping they transform the music you probably already hate into something more manly or something?

I don't think he has much stage presence or personality, and his between song banter is nonexistent. He doesn't look particularly comfortable onstage. While his recorded material is good, I don't think that his live show matches up.
In his defense, I saw him at the Black Cat, where the sound is notoriously bad, and at that protest last year, where the sound sucked as well.
