Just a reminder. Carry on.
-
We are the champions, my friends
And we'll keep on fighting till the end
We are the champions
We are the champions
No time for losers
'Cause we are the champions of the World
I've taken my bows
And my curtain calls
You brought me fame and fortune
And everything that goes with it
I thank you all

Men are such strange creatures. I'm not sure what it is that women and walky see in us.

the next line is arguably the best
"but its been no bed of roses, no pleasure cruise.."
what a great song....I'd have thought I'd gotten sick of it by now but I still dig it....
RIP Freddie.. you are very much missed.

Congrats Joe Flacco on new cap friendly contract! Franchise QB, Super Bowl winner and MVP! Go Ravens!
-
Only a $6.8M hit. Nice. Now to sign Reed, Ellerbe, Kruger etc.
-
Boldin's gone. Damn.
-
Boldin's gone. Damn.
Wow that sucks. Why did they sign Flacco to that huge contract if he isn't going to have anyone to throw to? Ellerbe isn't worth the money he will get. And trading bolding for a sixth round pick is a kick in the groin to him. They should have just released him.
-
They had no alternative. They had to give Flacco the money or find a new QB. Plus he only counts $6.8M against the cap this year. Boldin was going to be a cap hit of over $7.5M. If they release him they get nothing, so a 6th rounder is at least something. That's life in the salary-capped NFL.
-
Ed reed is next. He hired an agent. Not looking good for the ravens next year.
-

Ed Reed is far from the player he used to be. Hope he stays. But I think it's a little too early to write them off for next year. How many players signed elsewhere last year? And look what the outcome was.
-
Kruger is next. 5 years 40 million. Not bad for a guy who only plays on passing downs.
-
Ellerbe gone to Miami. I don't know why they didn't keep Boldin. they had the money.
-
Well, they do now.
You win a Super Bowl and everybody wants your players. Crazy how that works.
-
Pollard let go by the Ravens today
-
Pollard let go by the Ravens today
noooooo!!!! I have no idea what ozzie is doing. Ravens will be lucky to make playoffs next season.
-
Jeebus!
I thought for sure they'd keep Krueger. SUCKS.
-
i think its pretty obvious they are starting over on defense.....which they needed to do.
-
Jeebus!
I thought for sure they'd keep Krueger. SUCKS.
I think they fully expected Kruger would go. Ellerbe on the other hand.....
Questionable signing by Browns (http://espn.go.com/blog/afcnorth/post/_/id/66948/browns-first-signing-is-a-questionable-one)

Boldin and Pollard are what I don't get. THey were under contract and big contributors. Krueger only played in passing situations. Ellerbe was injured a lot and wasn't that worth the money he got. He wasn't a top linebacker. career stats 5.5 sacks and 1 interception. They say he was the main linebacker when Lewis was out injured. But guess what? The defense was horrible without Lewis playing.
-
The return of Bart Scott?
-
From espn:
'To justify his price tag, Kruger will need to produce as an every-down linebacker in Cleveland; remember that the Ravens used Kruger on only 22 defensive snaps in the Super Bowl because they preferred other players who were better run-stoppers in their base defense.
So, are the Ravens totally lost in the wilderness having traded Boldin for cap space that they didn't use? Of course not. They have Ozzie Newsome. He's good at this stuff. Chill. Baltimore made one very Ravens-esque signing on Tuesday, bringing in versatile Giants lineman Chris Canty on a three-year deal for just $8 million, with a mere $2.8 million guaranteed. Canty is versatile and experienced with both 3-4 and 4-3 schemes, and he still has enough athleticism to play end or tackle in either scenario. He can be the new Trevor Pryce for the Ravens.
As for the linebacker issue? There are still linebackers out there, and if the Ravens didn't think Ellerbe was worth paying like a franchise inside linebacker, they would know best. The Ravens could opt to go after the versatile Dansby as a short-term solution. One other fascinating option that probably won't happen: What if the Ravens outbid the Bears for Brian Urlacher, who has quietly come to an impasse with his only professional organization? It makes a bit of sense for both sides, although probably not enough for a deal to actually happen.'
-
From what I read the Packers offered Chris Canty a contract and he did not pass their physical.
-
Interesting take from Preston in the Sun. The 5 most outspoken Ravens are Ray Lewis, Boldin, Pollard, Ed Reed and McKinnie. Only 2 are left.
-
From what I read the Packers offered Chris Canty a contract and he did not pass their physical.
But he passed physicals in Baltimore, Kansas City and Tennessee.
-
I wonder if Kruger makes enough to get a third round compensatory pick in 2014. If we got a 3rd for krueger and a 4th for ellerbe it would make their loses easier to swallow.
-
cary williams to the eagles
-
cary williams to the eagles
so from the defense we will lose starting cornerback, 2 starting safeties, 3 linebackers including both staring inside linebackers. THat is over half the defense. I still don't understand Pollard. Preston of the sun says Harbaugh wants to make it his team and get rid of the leaders of the team. You would think the team just finished 6 and 10 or something. Pretty sad.
-
Ed Reed flown by the owners private jet to meet with the Texans.
At this point, I'm just going to assume he's gone too.
-
So team are now talking to Dennis Pita. If we lose him we get a second round pick as Ozzie didn't want to pay the little extra money to make it a first round pick. If we lose Pita i think Ozzie should be fired.
-
So you're saying more bread would've kept Pita?
-
Ed Reed to Texans
-
So you're saying more bread would've kept Pita?
what are you trying to say . . . can you hum us a few bars of it?
-

See, the man's name is Pitta. not Pita. Hence the bread reference.
-
I will be pissed if they lose Pitta.
I am also pissed that the NFL cannot just open the season on Wednesday LIKE THEY DID LAST YEAR.
I'm siding with the Orioles....
-
yep, NFL are being dumb.

Actually it is the networks controlling things. Last year there was an Obama speech so the networks had to cover it thus making the game on Wednesday. Games on Thursday have millions more viewers plus you add in the first day of jewish holidays that is millions more. The game between the white sox on thursday night will be lucky to have 25000 in attendance and maybe another 25000 watching on tv. Move the game to 1PM. they move games at the last minute all the time. They play in the middle of the week in the daytime on other games. This is no brainer.
I am an orioles season ticket holder and I think the orioles are being punks.
-
I don't think the Orioles are being punks at all. Their schedule was set first. Both teams are playing night games the night before and traveling. Why should the Orioles/white sox play tired just because the NFL bullies can't move the Ravens game to Wednesday or Sunday night? It's bs.
And like we found out last year, September matters.
-

they move games all the time. And everytime they have a rain out they have no problem rescheduling. THe orioles have 162 games a year. 1 game doesn't mean much. And they play day games after night games all the time. This game will be watched by everyone around the country and evidently they have big name artists for concerts during the day and big half-time celebrations. So it would be cool for the city of Baltimore. I dont' think it has anything to do with baseball at all. It is all Peter Angelos being a punk like he likes to be. He wants to be the Darth Vader of sports and universally hated.
-
So does Roger Godell. He could equally move the game to a different day. But he won't. Because he's a big mean bully.
-

He can't move it to a different day because the networks are paying millions upon millions to show it on the nigh they want to show games. The NFL already offered to make the orioles any money that they would lose by moving the game. This game will draw twice the amount of tv viewers that most world series games will draw. Comparable to game 7 of the world series. Last 2 years it was on a thursday night drew 27 million viewers. last time a world series game drew that many viewers was game 7 in 2002. Come on this is a big game for baltimore.
-
I just like baseball more.
-
who cares about the jewish holiday. they have nfl games on christmas
-
I won't be watching either game, so I hope that it pours in Baltimore that week screwing everything up. But the NFL is being ridiculous here.
There's no tradition in the Thursday opening game. It was recently invented and has been moved twice to Wednesday in the last five years.
The idea that it is disrespectful to the Jewish holiday is also ridiculous as the NFL played a night game on the first day of the holiday last year.
K8teebug is right about the travel the night before making it unfair to do a day game, which is too bad because a baseball day game into a night football game would be awesome.
The only way it would work for baseball would be to do the following:
Move the Wed games between the Orioles and Indians and the White Sox and Yankees to day games, and then move the Orioles and White Sox game on Thursday to a day game, all of which occur in the end of the season.
Or we can schedule (notice I didn't say move because it wasn't scheduled then originally anyway) one NFL game, at the start of the season on a Wednesday.
This isn't rocket science.
-
My husband thinks it will be funny if it rains.

[darthvoice]K8tee.....I, am your husband.[/darthvoice]
-
How many Jewish guys are on the Ravens anyway? Jews aren't the most athletic bunch.
-
I think it's an issue with Robert Kraft and the Patriots. Ravens are supposed to play the Patriots and he's Jewish.
I also think it's just an excuse. They would still be playing on Rosh Hashanna on Thursday!
-
I am sure they dont' care about the players being jewish or an owner being jewish. They care about that if they move it to wednesday they would lose 4 million viewers. if they move it to wednesday and it is the first night of a big jewish holiday they will lose 6 million viewers. They can just keep the game on Thursday and play it somewhere else and keep the tv folks are happy.
So the only one that loses are the people of Baltimore.
-
Why can't the Ravens open on Sunday night? I just don't understand. who cares about Thursday? Not this Baltimore fan.
-
looks like its a done deal - ravens opening up on the road.
dumb.
-

Well because there is an advantage to opening on Thursday as you get an extra 3 days rest before you next game. Better to be opening on the road on thursday and playing the game on the road then Sunday night. I can gurantee you though the Orioles game won't have much of an attendance figure.
-
Oh and Brian Roberts was on the radio this morning and he said the players were never asked their opinion about moving the game and he didn't even know about it until yesterday. He said it is no big deal as they do day games after night games all the time.
-

How would he know, he hasn't played in like 4 years...
Anyhow, there isn't a single day game after a night game with travel on any MLB teams schedule. They do not do it "all the time"....
-
i'm sorry, i'm new to this noise, but: is it impossible for the ravens and the O's to play on the same night? are the logistics more than the stadium area can handle? or is it some other issue i'm missing?
-
yeah, they share parking lots
-
Fuck Kraft and the Patriots.
-

maybe they did when he used to play?
-
maybe they did when he used to play?
Funny, but no. It's been in the CBA for years....
-
So the ravens are exploring having a pre-game concert in baltimore even though the game is on the road.
That would be awesome. They could do it at the stadium. They don't need parking.. maybe show the game on big screens. Then when more people are watching the ravens game on tv at ravens stadium than are watching the live orioles game pete will look like an even bigger idiot than he already does. maybe they could get a shot of the crowds on national tv.

Elvis!!
-
Elvis!!
and only 2.5 million against the caps this year. leaves money for the team to get a safety and perhaps a tackle. I think the defense will actually be better next year. I think Boldin and Mckinnie are the bigger loses.
-
This is second time after winning the Super Bowl that the Ravens signed a player named Elvis.
-

yeah i told my wife that last night. Hopefully this elvis works out better.
-
the Ravens sign Michael Huff!!! 3 years at 2 million a year. That gives us money to sign another low priced free agent. We still have holes at OT, ILB and WR. But things are definitely looking up. Defense has chance to be much improved.
-
Ravens reloading! See you in playoffs for 6th straight year!
-
Guaranteed money on his new contract:
Joe Flacco - $52M
Tony Romo - $55M
Didn't take long did it?

The amazing thing is that Romo sucks. He hasn't even been in the playoffs in the last 4 years. Why pay that kind of money to him?
