Finally coming to Blu-Ray with the 90 minutes of deleted scenes from Fire Walk With Me.

Deserved its own thread.

I can't remember why, but I remember my wife hates that woman.

I think maybe it was for this:

Loved her book, but the show is annoying.

Twin Peaks, on the other hand, best show ever.

i actually call bullshit on this . . . if i want deleted scenes from a movie, i demand it on the movie, as in include it with some rerelease of the movie.  not on some box set of the television series.  i already own the complete series vhs box set as well as special edition dvd of season one and two box set.  how, rude.  i want all my garmonbozia.

I have the VHS Series, the first DVD release of seasons 1 and 2, the Gold Box definitive set, the European Import of the Pilot on DVD, and Fire Walk With Me on VHS and DVD.

I will be buying it to have it all together and to finally see those 90 minutes!  I think it will be worth it for the David Bowie scenes alone!

I also have the books, trading cards, and I went to (most of) the sites in Snowqualmie and Bainbridge Island.

Just a wee bit obsessed.

Did anyone else go to the screening of Inland Empire at AMC Silver years back?  I got up the nerve to thank him for Twin Peaks, and they cut off the questions right when I got up to the mic!

Damn, you already took my favorite.

Is collecting the DVDs because they all had different commentaries/special features really that different than buying one (or several) reissues of the same album?  Or special editions?  I don't think so.

The VHS tapes were crap.  They all warped.  The first editions of the DVDs didn't come with the pilot.  And the european pilot was extended and gave away the killer's identity! (sort of)

Hence buying all the versions...

I'm really pissed my travel mate was a huge bitch when I drove cross country in 1999.  She wouldn't let me stop in Snowqualmie.  I should have just taken her to the airport.  the original diner burned down shortly after that.  Though they did save a bunch of stuff from the fire.  But, the interior has all been redone.

I've been to the real RR. It's changed since the fire, but there's still a bunch of Twin Peaks stuff they managed to salvage in the back.

There is a book which the creators just put out. It starts with the history (in the show's universe, not real life) of the Twin Peaks area being settled and supposedly fills in some of what has been happening in the 25 years between the end of Season 2 and the start of the new season.

The last time I saw it on the big screen, a couple of months ago, a complete stranger sitting next to me started having a conversation. She told me she had never seen the series at all and she just wanted to check out what the whole big hubbub was about. I was like, you're telling me you're watching fire walk with me first and then you're going to go watch the old series? Well, that's an interesting way to do it.

I spent nine days in Washington state a long time ago. I wanted to move there desperately. It was all because of Twin Peaks. I had to live in the same state that Twin Peaks was based from. Even though I toured around the entire State and loved everything I saw, it rained every f****** day I was there. On the last day when we were about to leave the Sun finally came out, and I believe I actually saw people dancing in their yards as if Jesus had returned to Earth.

I decided not to move there.

I saw it when it was first broadcast and not since then. Loved it. Amazon Prime has it for streaming so I'll soon reintroduce myself to it.

26 years since I've seen it. Kids have been born and had their own kids.

Confession: I still have all my newspaper and magazine articles from when it aired in the 90's. And I have the trading cards. And I have the VHS tapes and all the iterations of DVD/Blu Ray. And I yelled at the movie ticket person to let me in to see Fire Walk with Me when I was only 13/14 (and she did), and I got all the pop figures, and I may have bought a log lady outfit for Sunday and also my favorite local bakery's cherry pie.

And it's also why I've been drinking super strong black coffee since I was 13.

So...yeah (and I bought a bunch of the t-shirts from Showtime and also a lunch box because it's all just too irresistible right now).

*dork*

This author is very annoying. I think what annoys me the most about articles like this is that is so much re-tread of what everyone knows. YES, Season 2 was not as good. YES, they were pressured into revealing the killer. YES, David Lynch was busy and not as involved. and on and on and on.

WHY can't people just enjoy the awesomeness that this show was overall? Is every episode of every show perfect? No it is not. But, it is all we have convinced ourselves it was. Because it was the first. And because many of those episodes are some of the best tv ever made. A great experiment, a great risk. I can't wait to see what wonderful and strange things await us all on Sunday night. And I'm so glad it will be a surprise.

They aired 2 hours last night. They put the first four on their OD becuase we're in a free Showtime demo window and they're trying to hook people into signing up and paying for the rest.

Only a fraction of ?Twin Peaks? old broadcast audience returned for Sunday night?s two-hour premiere of Showtime?s revival, which arrived more than 25 years after it was last on the small screen.  The much ballyhooed return of David Lynch?s TV classic delivered only 506,000 viewers, according to Nielsen. Compared with a premium rival, HBO?s ?The Leftovers? had 770,000 viewers at 9 p.m., and ?Silicon Valley? had an audience of 844,000 at 10 p.m. Even Starz?s ?American Gods,? in its first season, had a larger audience with 631,000 viewers.

?Twin Peaks? 1990 premiere on ABC drew nearly 35 million viewers.

Also doesn't factor in that streaming is a thing now vs 1990, especially for a show that dropped 4 episodes OnDemand that day on a station that has a standalone online service and is available to a ton of cord-cutters via Amazon or Sling add-ons.

This landed in my email today:

CALL FOR CHAPTER PROPOSALS

From its 1990 premiere, the cult classic Twin Peaks has inspired a myriad of scholarly studies, but only a handful to date have examined the role that music and sound play in Lynch and Frost’s work. Compounding this is a new season that builds upon the sound and music from the original series and Fire Walk With Me. Angelo Badalamenti’s music and the nuanced sound design for the series’ original run and its recent return not only create its ambiance but also contribute to new ways of understanding the soundtrack.

The chapters in this collection illustrate the various ways in which Twin Peaks’ music and sound encourage multiple interpretations in both the original series and The Return.  The collection will cover topics ranging from the show’s sound design to its reuse of well-known musical works.

We invite proposals for chapters approaching the music of Twin Peaks from a range of methodologies. We are interested in considering how the show’s sound and music deepen and change the narrative mysteries at the heart of Twin Peaks.

Possible topics may include, but are not limited to:

Television genre and the music of Twin Peaks
    Lynch and Badalamenti’s collaborative process
Star image and the musicians of Twin Peaks
Twin Peaks fan communities and musical interpretation

Submission Guidelines:

Please submit your abstracts of no more than 500 words and a brief 100-word bio by Friday, February 2, 2018. We have a positive initial response to this project from a respected publisher.  Finished essays will be approximately 6000 words in length, including footnotes. Acceptance of proposals will be sent by email by the beginning of March 2018.

Please email your abstract and bio to both editors:

Dr. Reba Wissner at wissnerr –at- montclair.edu

Dr. Katherine Reed at kareed –at- fullerton.edu

i live in north bend, the town where Twin Peaks supposedly takes place.  there is a dinner that the one in the show is supposedly modeled after.  there are a number of shops, drinks, lunch specials, etc. named "twin peaks".  i suspect there was some sort of small celebration of twin peaks day in town, but i'm not in town this week so: cannot confirm.
