Same. I think I listened to it three times and it has collected dust since then.

It took me quite a good amount of time to really get into it. The real highlight of the whole thing was the atmosphere that Paul Simonon adds. It's by no means a great album but has a fair share of solid songs (kingdom of doom, herculean, nature springs, the title track).

I was able to get into TGTB&TQ alot more than alburn's latest effort.

No.  Are you kidding me?  Why would I be excited about that mumble mouth?

I don't like OLD Bob Dylan, so why would I be excited about NEW Bob Dylan?

You would have to give me a ticket and buy me dinner to get me to sit through a Dylan show.

Dude, how old do you think I am?

Then compare that to what you think the average age of a Bob Dylan would be.

If your math was right, there is probably a thirty or so year difference between my age, and the average age of someone who digs Dylan.

Nothing against you or what you like; but not everyone will like the same things you like.

I don't care how old you are.. honestly I see plenty of young people at Dylan shows... maybe you should try one.. you know .. on a night when the Floorboards below the Treehouse doesn't have a show by the Fuckin Forefingers or something..

List without Downtown Boys on it is a fail. Not to say that there are not some good things there. Do people still anticipate Radiohead albums the way they did between 2003 and 2007?
In Rainbows was OK but King of Limbs was hella boring. Does anyone else find it weird that Girlpool went from being a couple kids (they are like 17/15) nobody knew about to being everywhere literally over night? What is so exciting about Deafheaven? Vietcong and Marilyn Manson leaked a little while back.
Title: Re: 2015 Albums

I thought School Of Seven Bells was an interesting one... I did not realize Benjamin had already recorded an album full of his parts of songs...

As for Radiohead, I am excited cause you never know... I was really impressed with Thom's last solo one.  Maybe this will be less King of Limbs and more Kid A.

Deafheaven... I love/hate that band (I love the instrumentation on most of their stuff, but the singing can really kill the tunes for me).  I will definitely check it out though.  I think the singer's gimmick wears thin, but maybe he will pull an Alcest and start switching it up.

You guys and your Downtown Boys love... I tried to but could not even.

Who is Girlpool?

Yeah, that So7B was a headscratcher. Maybe RH will surprise me. Both shoegaze and black metal purists seem to care little for Deafheaven for exactly the reasons you stated. This is on my favorite sets of the year list! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxICtrp1ZmM) Such a fun energetic live band. Girlpool (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=juxz55GoYi0)

Glad to hear that the songs I heard from the B&S album don't reflect that the whole thing is a dud, but a lot of the ideas definitely come from other places. "Allie" is great. Sounds like it could be on "The Life Pursuit". "Enter Sylvia Plath" sort of reminds me of Saint Etienne. "The Everlasting Muse" is actually a really cool song, but it ends up sounding a LOT like "Waiting for the Sun" from the Doors at one point. "Perfect Couples" is "Remain in Light"-era Talking Heads meets Happy Mondays. Overall I just don't think all the experiments work. They're stretching really hard to make it a diverse record...they want to sound like another band by expanding their sound, but in the process they lose some of what makes Belle and Sebastian so special. I think some of it is really fun...there's a ton of heavy production. I think I'll need more time to absorb this one. I'm glad they're not rehashing the same things, but I'm not certain this was a total success. It's like they're taking their approach to "Your Cover's Blown" and trying to be more of a disco band. But it doesn't feel as exciting as that song. That being said "The Book of You" is really good, and I don't dislike "The Party Line" as much as I did the first few times I heard it.

Aphex Twin gives away 150 unreleased tracks on SoundCloud

To say that Richard D. James likes mixing music and technology is the biggest understatement this side of Bruce Willis admitting he's a bit thin on top. The artist better known as Aphex Twin has previously tweaked his music so that, if you ran the track Formula through a spectroscope, you'd see his face, not to mention launching his last album through Tor. 2015 has seen the musician decide to release a plethora of demo material onto SoundCloud, albeit under the guide of user48736353001.

According to FACT Magazine, the tracks are all demos and unfinished works that were written and performed in the late '80s and early '90s. When he started back in January, there were only a handful of tracks on the page, but that figure has ballooned to 150, all of which are downloadable for AFX completists. If all of these tracks haven't satisfied your yearning for new Twin, then you should also be aware that Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments pt. 2 is also available to buy.

At moments I hear a heavy Kristin Hersh sound to the vocals. And I think she's pretty much one of the most underrated and gifted people on the planet. Her solo "Live at Noe Valley, SF" live LP is one of my desert island LPs. That whole thing gives me chills. Plus, she's brutally funny.

Get Better  (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tB4Avdlz3lk)

There will be more announcements in the coming weeks and months - album title, release date, the first single proper, all that kind of thing. But for now I wanted to share one song with you all - to say thanks for your patience and attention, and also because I'm really fucking excited about this record. This song kind of encapsulates the sound and spirit of it. So here it is: 'Get Better'.

New Frank Turner and he released one song today
Get Better  (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tB4Avdlz3lk)

There will be more announcements in the coming weeks and months - album title, release date, the first single proper, all that kind of thing. But for now I wanted to share one song with you all - to say thanks for your patience and attention, and also because I'm really fucking excited about this record. This song kind of encapsulates the sound and spirit of it. So here it is: 'Get Better'.

The new album, my sixth, will be called "POSITIVE SONGS FOR NEGATIVE PEOPLE". It's a record about survival, defiance, about picking yourself up when you're down, and the title reflects that. It came from a late night drunk conversation with an old friend, I was trying to explain what I do for a living, and, well, it just came out like that

You can actually f***ing sense the band getting shitter as the album progresses - Bellamy went into the studio to record Drones a man, and came out a f***ing boy - the sort of f***ing tortured, desperately self-important adolescent boy who spends his evenings with his head stuck out of his f***ing suburban window screaming "I HAVE A PENIS, TOO!" at the moon and beating his bare f***ing pigeon chest! 'Live At 9:30' 3xLP Available for Order Now

Today, Animal Collective is releasing ?Live at 9:30?, all songs recorded live from their June 12th, 2013 show in DC at 9:30 Club.

This is from the third day of their three days of shows in 2013.  I was at the first show (the one that lost power, had to see them that December instead) but will probably grab this!

From January 1965 through March 1966 Bob Dylan recorded three fiery, trailblazing, universally acclaimed albums: ?Bringing It All Back Home,? ?Highway 61 Revisited? and ?Blonde on Blonde.? The next installment of his archival Bootleg Series ? ?The Cutting Edge 1965-1966: The Bootleg Series Vol. 12″ (Columbia/Legacy) ? unearths a trove of previously unreleased material from those recording sessions.

It includes demo versions, rehearsals and alternate takes of some of Mr. Dylan?s most celebrated songs, on the way to forging what he would famously call ?that thin, that wild mercury sound? with ?Blonde on Blonde.? The collection will be released Nov. 6.

The recordings ? live in the studio, without overdubs ? reveal Mr. Dylan and his musicians constantly reshaping the songs, changing tempos, keys, melodies and lyrics. Among the finds are a previously unreleased take of ?She?s Your Lover Now,? versions of ?Mr. Tambourine Man? with drums that were recorded before the Byrds made their hit folk-rock arrangement, and radically different approaches to songs like ?Visions of Johanna,? ?Desolation Row,? ?One of Us Must Know (Sooner or Later)? and ?It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry.?

The album will be available in multiple configurations. ?The Best of the Cutting Edge 1965-66: The Bootleg Series Vol. 12? culls the material for a two-CD (or three-LP) set. The more extensive six-CD ?deluxe edition? includes a full disc dedicated to the recording sessions for ?Like a Rolling Stone,? from its initial version ? a waltz ? through the version that was officially released and on through nearly a dozen further attempts. It also includes the four separate tracks of the four-track master recording, with one or two instruments each.

For Dylan completists, 5,000 copies of an exhaustive, limited-edition 18-CD ?Collector?s Edition? are to be sold through www.bobdylan.com for $599. It will include every note of the 1965-66 sessions along with mono singles, hotel-room recordings and a few frames of film snipped from a print of ?Don?t Look Back,? the Dylan documentary filmed in 1965 by D.A. Pennebaker.

back in the 90s I bought a ton of Dylan outtale boots.. the unreleased Dylan stuff is so awesome...still I have a tough time imagining what could be on those 18 cds@!

I can't see spending 600$ for the 18 disc edition .. they'd have to tell me exactly what was on it ..

bet it ends up being a great investment though..

I will wait until I have the record... You know my love of SPORTS.  This is really bumming me out. I did not realize this was the end.  I hope the singer gets a new band in Philly sooner than later.  At least you got to see them once.

But this is it. No tour, no promo cycle. Guitarists/vocalists Carmen Perry and Catherine Dwyer are planning a move to Philly. Other members will attend medical school, finish up at Kenyon, move out west to teach Latin. For the component members this?ll be a document of their youthful emotions and confused headspaces, and it can be the same for you too. Listen to the record in full here, and try not to think of what could have been. All of Something is enough.

Sky Ferreira has announced the name of her next album.

Masochism

No release date

What a bummer...after 5 years, still not getting released.

Sky Ferreira @skyferreira

I obviously can’t give a release date during a pandemic (it feels gross talking about it during this) & I couldn’t while I was sick...which I said a while ago & trying to recover prior to all of this. The previous “excuses” were out of my control (~music industry politics~)
--------
I finished all of the songs I’m releasing first a while ago & explained that. I made & finished it under hellish circumstances so why would I just throw it out into the universe without it being the way I want/need it to be?
--------------

Other people might have the freedom/ability/support to do that...I don’t. I’m not interested in putting my new music out that way. I don’t share or hype up every experience/idea/thought/feeling I have & it’s constantly mistaken for not caring or doing anything.
