Sorry, but the Markie, Mankie, Lulu, Thirsty Moore, Bede, Dupek, Doomlink, Jaguar, etc... era of roughly a decade ago was the height of this little cyber civilization. Just go look at those old threads - classics all.

I think that was a different era of not only this board, but the internet in general. Over time, it gets quite tiring to try and continue an internet persona. Why not just interact like normal human beings?

Other than Dupek and Doomlink, I actually interacted with all those people in...like...real life. Outside of Venerable Bede, there was nothing "normal" about any of them.

Whoever he/she/it was seems to have actually been at that first Neutral Milk Hotel show... I doubt Seth or James would have been there.

I post on an Orioles board where atomic is a member. It's clearly the same guy who used to post here, so in that sense he's "real." I have no idea whether or not he's somebody else's alter ego, though.

Interesting.
I used to have a pet theory that he was Sonick because he posted that he was on another board where Sonick posted but couldn't identify the community. I also couldn't find how the two guys overlapped on here.

He's the best. Very few people would be willing to even attempt, let alone get excited and relish in the opportunity, to provide the entertainment for my nuptials. But The Director is the only person I could imagine doing it.
