Post by: hutch on June 23, 2015, 03:12:42 pm
50 cents..i must admit insert seems stuck together....kind of disconcerting...this obviously has the killer cover of la woman and the wonderful cradle of love.. if you seen the video with christina applegate you know what i'm talking about...apparently she went to school close to us...cocksville, md...sorry i fucked up the pic size..i really don't know what i'm doing

20 cents...ok..definite candidate for score of the day... if you like romance, multicolored balloon rides and duos with a pigmy and a giant in them this is for you.....i think these guys are classified with yacht rock...

$1.59... maybe my favorite bonnie raitt record.her second..from 1972..all kinds of great musicians play on this..produced by michael cuscuna who has played a big role in blue note jazz reissues, etc.... i have a late 70s repress but the collector in me just can't pass up promos..i have her first as a white label promo, also great stuff, from 1971...so glad she hit it big in the late 80s...it was long overdue...she's a great singer, slide guitar player, etc etc..

Hutch being the vinyl master I am guessing you will know the answer to this...  Is it safe (for the vinyl) to send LPs through the US mail and if so is there a prescribed way to do so?

you can buy a vinyl mailer...but just found this site that shows you how to make one for free (http://boards.vinylcollective.com/topic/11203-make-your-own-lp-and-7-mailers-for-free/)

thanks been meaning to get back to you about your email and will do so soon

well i always worry in summer that if i send something or have something sent via media mail that it may warp/get damaged in the heat but i don't think so , so i would send  via media mail in a record mailer or alternatively get a box fold it around record and put some padding (a cardboard flat on each side)..there should not be space between "box" and record other than the cardboard flats..

media mail i think is about $3 for a record.. and if they give you any guff records ARE media...

wow.. you see the beauty in liner notes streamers of the world: roy bittan of the E Street Band plays piano on makin' love out of nothing and all and is co-credited with the arrangement (code for co-wrote song but we're not going to give you a cowrite buddy)....the plodding drums (heinous) are from max weinberg also of the E Street Band...
in a way its jim steinman's (producer /writer) dream.. meatloaf was very Springsteen in a hideous way (all written by Steinman....).... so he goes out and hires Bittain/Weinberg for Making Love out of Nothing At All...
i never knew that...til today...

bittan also helps make dire straits making movies into one of my favorite lps... romeo and juliet, etc.. yeah its him.

At $2 I would buy that simply to put it in my record collection and enjoy the look on people's faces when they're flipping through them and get to it.
