Hand to God, I'd been there probably 10+ times before someone clued me in it was a gay bar and I had no idea.

Great pre-show spot.
Yeah it always seemed like a sports first bar. I've been to gay bars and I picked up no gay bar vibe from Nellies. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I mean, no one bought me a drink anytime I've been there. Am I magically worse looking the second I step into Nellies? Not bloody likely.

The readers' poll results are mostly usually garbage.

At least Baked and Wired beat Georgetown Cupcake.

What does this mean? You don't think people vote what they feel or you don't trust the people?

I mean the 930 Club is the best venue...ammirite?

One of the worst beer stores in DC (actually Silver Spring) wins this award yearly for the best beer store. I'm perplexed, but this happens yearly. This survey has zero cred, brah.

I don't think it is so much that people are stupid.. I think certain stores do a better job of getting people to vote for them.... but YMMV

I completely agree that some of the results are ridiculous.. Exhibit A is Joe's Record "Paradise" winning best record store..

That's interesting. Just the other night I was walking by the Black Cat and noticed this record store. "Has that always been there?" I said to my companion. "I don't know," she replied.

In a completely unrelated note, I think it was 2005 when I first began downloading music.

It's kind of like when the Washington Post's readers named Maggianos the best Italian restaurant in DC.   It was probably the only Italian restaurant (other than Olive Garden) that 2/3rds of those voting knew.

I didn't say you'd said it dude but before the election it was a very common idea in the progressive community that only sanders represented change and hillary and trump where the same thing..."oh they both suck.. what's the difference.. why even bother voting?".. we heard this ad nauseum...the "establishment"/"status quo" etc.. now progressives argue they never thought this etc..but i can remember during the democratic primaries the horrible tweets I kept seeing about Hillary from the Bernieites... anyways...
