Title: Black Cat Renovations?
Post by: rich_WDC on June 11, 2017, 04:37:27 pm
There's a sign on Black Cat window that states a third-story addition and a front-window facade change.
Anyone got details or timeframe?

not a good sign... if you're renting out your space.. i don't care what spin you give it.. if a club is doing well they don't rent out space.. they need the space

The street level space could  be put to much better use. Virtually no foot traffic that isnt seeing a show enters the space.

nobody uses the red room now? man, they must be doing awful then..  as far as the food..well, it kind of blows...that is why few people hang out there or get food...

if you look at the listings at the black cat there has been a marked decline in the types of shows they are getting...they're getting beat up...that is why they need to look to rent space.. if they were doing great they wouldn't say 'Oh but we could rent out the bottom..".. I mean shit

I hear what you're saying, but given the increase in foot traffic in that area, you definitely want to entice more of the crowd that isn't going to a show. Folks buying beers in the Red Room before a show cant compete with that and many are probably grabbing food elsewhere.

Cant comment on the lack of quality shows but as a business decision I think it makes sense to exploit the store front for more than $6 beers.

I feel Red Room has just as many people as a regular bar on 14th St [black whiskey, bar pilar, marvin, st ex] Weekdays are alright, weekends are packed. That is just me.

Yes, food for thought sucks though. Considering they offer vegan/veggie stuff I wish they would update their options to at least taste edible.
