So is it two songs on one record and one song on the other or does the 3rd hit stop in the middle of one LP and resume on the second?

Glad Kling has hooked up with Eddie

He deserved better from RHCP

on the one hand, i understand where you're coming from... he was with them for almost a decade, and he was turned away as soon as Frusciante pulled his head out of his ass long enough to realize where he belonged.

on the other hand... Klinghoffer was always a placeholder.  it's Frusciante's band.  Klinghoffer knew it, and in interviews he's oscillated between "i knew this would happen one day" and "this was the worse thing to ever happen to me".

serious question: what would "He deserved better" looked like?  paid him more?  told Frusciante "sorry, no, we have a guitarist"?  become a two guitar band?  a transition period?  i ask, in all seriousness, because based on what i've read i was handled as well as possible.  the peppers were honest and direct about what is ultimately a bad situation.  it's like a romantic breakup: there is no good outcome for the one who is rejected.  there are only shades of bad, and in the peppers' case seems to me they handled it as well as could be expected.  maybe you've read something else?

A new "67 minute" album has also been teased

band is describing it as "merciless" and the "most intense, saddest, most dramatic and most emotional record we’ve ever made."  hype that hype!

previously Smith said the next album will be their last, but apparently they're now working on 3 of them - although the third one sounds like it's barely started and formless.

RUSH guitarist Alex Lifeson announces his new band Envy of None will release their self-titled debut album on 8 April.

so about the Liar (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vV-IZRh22mo) track... um, yeah.  i like the driving synth vibe, the heavy + dark + female wails gives it an evanescence vibe.  but goddamn this makes me miss Neil: not only are the drums a non-entuty (likely programmed), but the lyrics - DEAR GOD.  did they get a heart-broken 14 year old to write them?  they unfortunately compounded the problem on themselves by releasing a LYRIC VIDEO... why?!?

because they haven't become insufferable enough already:

Weezer:
Not content with releasing two albums in 2021 (OK Human and Van Weezer), the band are set to release a set of four in 2022 and, like a rock Vivaldi, each will have its own seasonal theme. Speaking on Good Morning America in the summer, frontman Rivers Cuomo revealed, “I guess I’ve had a lot of time on my hands so I wrote four albums that we’ll put out next year. It’s called Seasons, and each album comes out on the first day of the season. Spring is kind of like happy chill. And then we move through to dance rock, like a Strokes-style album for the fall, and then sad acoustic, Elliott Smith-style for winter.”

kinda?  it's unclear, but appears that he has.  per the band's FB, in june: "Due to the current situation, Ulrich Schnauss has decided to step back from playing live with Tangerine Dream".  he didn't contribute to the new album.  that certainly sounds like he's out.  however, he's still listed as a member on the band's website, but that could just mean the page hasn't been updated...

The Cure?

The Cure announce UK and European tour for 2022 (https://www.nme.com/news/music/the-cure-announce-uk-and-european-tour-for-2022-3111944)
A new "67 minute" album has also been teased

band is describing it as "merciless" and the "most intense, saddest, most dramatic and most emotional record we’ve ever made."  hype that hype!

previously Smith said the next album will be their last, but apparently they're now working on 3 of them - although the third one sounds like it's barely started and formless.

Having long teased the band’s long-awaited “merciless” new record – having told us that two new albums were on the way back at the last NME Awards back in 2020 – Smith tonight revealed that one of them would be “real very soon”, as well as sharing more about its sister record and his anticipated solo album.

“So I’ve been working on two Cure albums, and one of them is finished,” Smith told NME (https://www.nme.com/news/music/the-cure-robert-smith-interview-new-album-solo-songs-of-the-lost-world-3173769). “Unfortunately, it’s the second one that’s finished. [On the other] I’ve got to do four vocals, and there are 10 songs on each album. We’re mixing next month on April 1, so I’ve got three weeks left.”

He continued: “I know what it’s called – it’s called ‘Songs Of A Lost World’. It’s got artwork, it’s got a running order, it’s almost done! They’re so slow because of vinyl, but it might come in September. I’d rather it just came out. I can’t stand the anticipation.”

Asked about the sound of the upcoming records, Smith revealed: “Well the first Cure album is relentless doom and gloom. It’s the doomiest thing that we’ve ever done. The second one is upbeat, and my [solo] one won’t be out until next year.

There's a difference between something anodyne and something aurally offensive. I don't want to listen to this record again. If it came on, I would not scream "oh God, turn this off, it is so bad!" There are just simply thousands of much better records I could listen to instead.

Julian may be partial to the EP version of No Cars Go.

I think the album is solid almost all the way through, with only 2-3 I could consider skip-worthy (Black Wave, windowsill, title track). But this was another formative album for me and my objectivity is highly questionable.

Robert Smith says The Cure's dark and "relentless" new album, Songs of a Lost World, will be out by October.
with a very uncharacteristic quote

"It'll be worth the wait. I think it's the best thing we've done, but then I would say that. I'm not doing an Oasis when I say that, 'IT'S THE BEST FOOKIN' ALBUM.'"

There is much debate about it on the Wilco Facebook group. It's netierh rocking, nor partularly country. I do like it a little better than the last two, but I can't see myself listening to it five years from now.

Where are you paying 10 bucks to see a movie? It was 14 bucks to see Bob's Burgers and that was at a theatre with piss all over the bathroom floor.

Where are you paying 10 bucks to see a movie?

so i checked their website (https://northbendtheatre.com/about/) and i had the price wrong: my local theater charges $9 for adults.  mind you it's a small-town, single-screen cinema that typically only has one screening on wednesdays & thursdays, and two shows friday-sunday.  theater was built in the early 1940's and still has some of that grandeur/it's old as fuck.  it shows the latest hollywood blockbusters but they only stick around for a week or two before being swapped out for the latest drivel.  seats just under 300 people.  despite the low ticket price, they manage to keep their washroom floors urine-free.

DIO's classic debut album, 1983's "Holy Diver", was reissued last month as "Holy Diver: Super Deluxe Edition" via Rhino. The four-CD boxed set comes with two versions of "Holy Diver". The first is a new mix of the album made by Joe Barresi (TOOL, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, SLIPKNOT). He used the original analog tapes to remix all nine tracks on the album. The second is a newly remastered version of the original 1983 mix. The Super Deluxe Edition also features unreleased live performances and outtakes, along with a selection of rarities from the era.

they had to do that past for their US releases because of the folk singer, still funny that in this day in age with so many bands and artists using the same name it's still a requirement for them.

oh and that single is quite good

saw one today where a cover band was using The Walkmen.. not to mention several groups using Fernweh alone on Bandcamp

my bad the other band is actually called The Walkmen Band, still a bit of stretch...

Spoon
Lucifer On The Moon
Matador
11/4

Spoon lets dub icon Adrian Sherwood rework the entire Lucifer On The Sofa album which someone referred to as it being scremadelica'd

Seeing as I've always enjoyed Sherwood's reworking of Primal Scream "Vanishing Point" as Echo Dek, so I'm curious to hear this one.

Other notable rock records with dub versions are of course The Clash with one side of Sandinista, Franz Ferdinand and Django Django and I'm sure there are others..

No, he was religious and never smoked a day in his life actually. He did play bass guitar though.
