a tour would be great...hopefully the new songs are better than Dulli's solo album...

kick ass.

Not sure this a true "reunion" - sounds like they are just getting together to create a few new songs as bait for the retrospective. Still cause for great celebration & if a new record or tour would follow...best news in many years.
From Dulli's Inferno:
The Afghan Whigs will convene in Cincinnati in two weeks to rehearse their first new material in eight years for an upcoming Rhino Records retrospective of the band entitled Unbreakable. After rehearsing the songs for four days, the band; John Curley, Greg Dulli, Rick McCollum and Michael Horrigan will travel to Memphis, TN to record at Ardent with longtime Whigs collaborator, Jeff Powell.
For now, the Twilight Singers have added a VA date for this Fall:
The Twilight Singers feat. Greg Dulli and Mark Lanegan are gearing up for the next installment of their world tour. The following dates have been confirmed by the venue or band. More to come.
10.24.06 Great American Music Hall - San Francisco
10.25.06 House of Blues/Sunset Strip - Los Angeles
11.11.06 The Norva - Norfolk, VA

Highly recommend seeing TS live, especially with the addition of Lanegan. He only sings on a handful of songs, and he doesn't move, but it's awesome.
And yes, if the Whigs decide to do a couple of shows around the time the best of is released next year, I will be there. That said, I'm not getting my hopes up too high.

Twilight Singers also added a Nov 15th date at the Black Cat for non-Norfolkers.

Wonder why this is at the Black Cat. Was it not a good turnout for their last 9:30 show?

It's probably only because they just played the 9:30.
How crowded I wonder at BC? Plus, I heard the 9:30 show was really hot and smokey. I'll choke at BC with the one vent.

Info via blog.myspace.com/twilightsingers (and a great new tune):
Recorded in Helsinki during their recent European tour, ??Live With Me? is the lead track off the Twilight Singers upcoming EP, ??A Stitch In Time?.
This studio version of the Massive Attack/Terry Callier collaboration features Mark Lanegan and Greg Dulli on vocals and sets the table for the upcoming Twilight run of shows this Fall and early Winter.
