This was mentioned in a comment thread on DCist...apparently a shop with "onion" in the name. Anyone know about this?

two people have asked me about it, and i told them i knew nothing.
must investigate. both have told me of crates and crates of records.

You're not thinking of Crooked Beat, which is on 18th, somewheres up around California St. way are you? That's kinda newish.
Here's a map of DC area music stores:

Red Onion. It's on the northeast corner of 18th & T streets. The entrance is on 18th, right next to the dry cleaners. The selection is decent, but pretty small right now. The owner -- an amiable fellow -- said that it's just a small portion of his stock and he just hasn't had time to get everything out yet. Prices are good, but don't neglect to inspect the vinyl - some of it is pretty scuffed.
I saw Ian Svenonius in there today, browsing through the Soul & Funk section.

i have been there a few times now, and there's always new vinyl each time. it's small, but chock full of good stuff. the owner told me that what's out is the "tip of the iceburg." there are books, cds and records. it's at 18th and T, near lauriol plaza restaurant.
