i want my own thread to go on about, in the tradition of the "high life" and "tech. babble" threads we have, that never seem to end. i will begin small and steady, hoping to continue every once in a while with deliberate, well thought out entries. not cliche conspiracies, like 9/11 or the location of kennedy's brain, but random off my tongue, head scratchers.
here is my first. lindsay lohan and her girlfriend samantha ronson. i have seen this before. anne heche in bright bold lights. but this time we have two of them fighting for the same prize. for some reason, gay is cool now. i guess after shoving "will and grace" and ellen down our throats for so many years, and then brokeback mountain, only heightened by sympathy for what's his name, plus the fact that the shit gays have put up with for thousands of years has finally come full frontal to the attention of people who like to care for others to feel better about themselves (or they have finally grown tired of what blacks went through) that we have this thing called the era of "gay enlightenment." i feel both of these media sluts are vying for the attention of needing attention. like michael jordon after basketball or madonna after relevance. on one side you have a dj. god i'm so sick of everybody being a dj, but that is another rant. this dj has been quoted by critics as "sucking; having no talent in the medium; and when you invite her to dj your party, you know "why" you do it." (to attract the hollywood warhol like slags that come with her since she hooked up with lindsay. on the other side, you have a overused, over media fucked starlet, who has nothing else to persue after a year before of dui/car crashes/rehabs (how many times?) . . . and here i thought she was an actress.
so give it up girls. gay is a way of life from conception, not a halloween costume put on to draw attention to yourself, and then tossed aside when the spotlight leaves.

this next one is short, and i'm not really sure if it is a conspiracy or not . . . or just something for mister navy's new thread.
shuffle - on cd players, or i guess mp3/ipod players (but i refuse to use those evil things, so i just refer to the cd player.) i love shuffle; prefer it over just listening straight through the album, unless of course it is pink floyd's "the wall" or other "concept" music requiring a form to appreciate the experience. but with shuffle, after each song is finished, the player "randomly" chooses another song for you. how does it choose? if you hit next instead of waiting for the first song to end and having the player "choose" for you, will you arrive at the same song chosen? does the player get mad at you for not letting it choose? do cds have "predestined" songs that stand out to be picked on shuffle?

location of 930 club - for years i have pondered why oh why would any fool put the club there. ninth and v., north west? i mean, i know it could be worse, like anywhere in northeast or southeast, but the location still is shit: the decor of the neighborhood a unapologized tag upon tagged out building rot draped in disgusting states of stoned out window disrepair. broken glass streets from derelict drunks, vials and small bagggies that make the white suburb kids stereotype. i know the easy answer could be, "you get what you can in this town and you take it." but i feel there was motive. plot assignments. a reason to shine as a beacon club that, besides black cat, stands for the punk, the plastered past and post flyers of epic occurrences, with a do what i want so fuck you mentality. there is a "can't take the heat, get out of the crowd" mentality that goes with this club and it's location. just the way it was meant to be.

music - yes. what could possibly be labeled a conspiracy and then stuck to such a thing as music? so broad a topic, where as conspiracy needs limitations and the miniscule to work proper. well, i offer the simple question of who brought this thing to us, this invention called music? way beyond the fire and wheel; this was one day animal next day artist. i know we (humans) technically invented it with musical instruments, around 35,000 y.a., which is right after we invented burial and then took to the sea, according to this cool book i am reading called "national geographic 1000 events that shaped the world." yeah, i know, reading a paper book for reference information. string instruments came around 2600 b.c.e., right around the time of the establishment of an empire. also at the same time of the first pyramids being built, where soon to come the great pyramids of giza and khufu.
there is the connection. there is the control. just where did this thing evolve from, this thing glorious as written word to emotion filled speech transference itself. and was there predestined knowledge of what it would become . . . if you stopped right now and thought about where it is and what it has become? all television shows, sports shows, commercials, infomercials, everything on television has music as a background score. even all movies. without it, it would seem bland and pointless. when we eat out, there is music, in our car (no matter it be radio/cd/ipod) it is there. we need it. without it, what we see and do through the day, whether it work or play or excercise . . . is "bland and pointless(?)". can you laugh off the assertion and live without it? that means all forms of it, and i think i have only named a few outlets of it. no shows or listening to it. how many people have dreams of being in bands that go nowhere or bands form to wind up in bitter fueds where many people (inside and outside the band) are hurt, and it haunts them/effects them forever? just how many shows can you be fucked out of because of the "scalpers first" rule of thumb and the price rise of concerts, before you lose it? the riots at concerts because of types of attitudes clashing with artists too far gone prefuckingmadonna to even show on stage. classes of people (this is my favourite) forming based on what type of music you listen to. as if the type of music (punk/rap/country/indie/goth/pop/etc...) was the cult sensation and the music was a demi-god, giving audible connetion to the (god?). the demise of the empire due to internet thievery, where the artists who provided the music now have to hide that "yes, they were all along and apart of the past rip off process of drinking,drugging,fucking to furious excess," by offering music in a repackaged, repriced "free" for all or in-store, multiple issue, exclusive content up your ass b.s..
so just who "invented" this thing we call music, that most people think of as only mere music? since the days of wigs and white powder moles, there was jealously and there was greed, and that is only two of the better qualities of a thing that people are addicted to as much as any drug, not to be put down so easily. viva musica!

There's this little gang of girls on my Facebook friends list that have all gone 'gay'. THey all have 'girlfriends' but the pictures they post of them and their 'girlfriends' they don't tag themselves in. And it's weird seeing on girl come out about a year ago and then slowly 5 or 6 more start going to gay clubs, which is fine, and then they start dating girls. According to their status. It's confusing, I completely understand when you say 'gay is cool' now or something. They all go to Town and they all take millions of pictures and they all chit chat about each other and how gross guys are. It's so lame. And they started filming themselves like a blog or youtube celeb and posting them on facebook and it blows up my damn feed. So. Annoying.
And I'm a guy who leans toward the conspiracy side of 9/11. Just look at the support beams! JESUS!
And anyone hear about the North American Union? I showed all the stuff to my stepsister a few months ago and she was terrified. THe dollar will collapse and the North American Union [Canada, US, Mexico] will form and the AMERO will be our new currency.
And apparently in June there will be a coup d'etat and America will be transformed into a police state. It's all a huge conspiracy, there are no political parties, they all have one goal. Bla bla.
And of course the world ending on 5 or 6 different dates in 2012.

a chipotle carnitas fajita-burrito with corn, sour cream, a little hot sauce, and an occasional dash of chipotle smoked tabasco sauce will bring me to my knees like no amount of water-boarding can. it's like mind control - hey, wait, is the government behind chipotle?!?
(and for the record, the best burrito evar is from Anna's Taqueria, in boston. chipotle is a respectable, consistent and more widely available second).

up and becoming a destroyer of the initial reason for posting in here and not to dilute the theories of organized nutballs everywhere (myself included . . . yes, i am an organized nutball) i felt i would just lay this out in here instead of starting a new thread about said topic. and by the way, i went to see the new harry potter movie last night . . . ehh . . . worst of the series, but still ok. needed more action and less snogging. but anyways, after a few years of playing with it, i have finally grow cold toward the nintendo wii. hell, i am even now only playing old gamecube games on the thing so as to have some respectable gaming. so i need to upgrade. i have played out the ps2 and loved it long time like a cat loves a dead mouse to keep batting around. so do i go ps3 or do i go xbox 360? i've never owned or played an xbox, so am i at disadvantage? i like the fact it can stream netfix, but is it wifi or dsl port only? i need wifi due to location of tv and such. is it true that ps3 is not back compatible? big bad if not. so which should it be. which is the best for my fingering enjoiment? let the conspiracy theories begin. and thank you for your input!
(i know that some of these questions could be answered by net searching, but i need hands on opinions by people who perhaps know the ins and out of both machines . . . plus i only care about what forumers think.)

well I have both the xbox and ps3. The ps3 I got is backwards compatiable with ps2 games. However I think they stopped making ps3s that are backward compatible. So if you can find older versions of the ps3 then you are golden. The xbox is pretty good with netflix streaming. However it doesn't have wifi built in like the ps3 does. So it has to be plugged in for streaming and what not. Overall I think the ps3 is just a tad bit better but who knows everyone else loves the xbox. Also for the xbox not being wifi just buy a long ethernet cable or you could also buy a wireless adapter for the xbox.

yeah . . . i do recant the last part. i do feel bad for anybody who gets drafted. i am still simmering after all these years of being treated like a "sub human" in the eyes of the military, and then here they are right before another war brewing . . . suddendly we are just fine. and seeing how we are in iraq and afgan. and maybe soon pakistan and iran, i think they may just take any age they can get.

The previously unknown deposits ? including huge veins of iron, copper, cobalt, gold and critical industrial metals like lithium ? are so big and include so many minerals that are essential to modern industry that Afghanistan could eventually be transformed into one of the most important mining centers in the world, the United States officials believe.
An internal Pentagon memo, for example, states that Afghanistan could become the ?Saudi Arabia of lithium,? a key raw material in the manufacture of batteries for laptops and Blackberries.
The vast scale of Afghanistan?s mineral wealth was discovered by a small team of Pentagon officials and American geologists. The Afghan government and President Hamid Karzai were recently briefed, American officials said.
While it could take many years to develop a mining industry, the potential is so great that officials and executives in the industry believe it could attract heavy investment even before mines are profitable, providing the possibility of jobs that could distract from generations of war.
?There is stunning potential here,? Gen. David H. Petraeus, commander of the United States Central Command, said in an interview on Saturday. ?There are a lot of ifs, of course, but I think potentially it is hugely significant.?
The value of the newly discovered mineral deposits dwarfs the size of Afghanistan?s existing war-bedraggled economy, which is based largely on opium production and narcotics trafficking as well as aid from the United States and other industrialized countries. Afghanistan?s gross domestic product is only about $12 billion.
?This will become the backbone of the Afghan economy,? said Jalil Jumriany, an adviser to the Afghan minister of mines.
American and Afghan officials agreed to discuss the mineral discoveries at a difficult moment in the war in Afghanistan. The American-led offensive in Marja in southern Afghanistan has achieved only limited gains. Meanwhile, charges of corruption and favoritism continue to plague the Karzai government, and Mr. Karzai seems increasingly embittered toward the White House.
So the Obama administration is hungry for some positive news to come out of Afghanistan. Yet the American officials also recognize that the mineral discoveries will almost certainly have a double-edged impact.
Instead of bringing peace, the newfound mineral wealth could lead the Taliban to battle even more fiercely to regain control of the country.
The corruption that is already rampant in the Karzai government could also be amplified by the new wealth, particularly if a handful of well-connected oligarchs, some with personal ties to the president, gain control of the resources. Just last year, Afghanistan?s minister of mines was accused by American officials of accepting a $30 million bribe to award China the rights to develop its copper mine. The minister has since been replaced.
Endless fights could erupt between the central government in Kabul and provincial and tribal leaders in mineral-rich districts. Afghanistan has a national mining law, written with the help of advisers from the World Bank, but it has never faced a serious challenge.
?No one has tested that law; no one knows how it will stand up in a fight between the central government and the provinces,? observed Paul A. Brinkley, undersecretary of defense and leader of the Pentagon team that discovered the deposits.
At the same time, American officials fear resource-hungry China will try to dominate the development of Afghanistan?s mineral wealth, which could upset the United States, given its heavy investment in the region. After winning the bid for its Aynak copper mine in Logar Province, China clearly wants more, American officials said.
Another complication is that because Afghanistan has never had much heavy industry before, it has little or no history of environmental protection either. ?The big question is, can this be developed in a responsible way, in a way that is environmentally and socially responsible?? Mr. Brinkley said. ?No one knows how this will work.?
With virtually no mining industry or infrastructure in place today, it will take decades for Afghanistan to exploit its mineral wealth fully. ?This is a country that has no mining culture,? said Jack Medlin, a geologist in the United States Geological Survey?s international affairs program. ?They?ve had some small artisanal mines, but now there could be some very, very large mines that will require more than just a gold pan.?
The mineral deposits are scattered throughout the country, including in the southern and eastern regions along the border with Pakistan that have had some of the most intense combat in the American-led war against the Taliban insurgency.
The Pentagon task force has already started trying to help the Afghans set up a system to deal with mineral development. International accounting firms that have expertise in mining contracts have been hired to consult with the Afghan Ministry of Mines, and technical data is being prepared to turn over to multinational mining companies and other potential foreign investors. The Pentagon is helping Afghan officials arrange to start seeking bids on mineral rights by next fall, officials said.
?The Ministry of Mines is not ready to handle this,? Mr. Brinkley said. ?We are trying to help them get ready.?
Like much of the recent history of the country, the story of the discovery of Afghanistan?s mineral wealth is one of missed opportunities and the distractions of war.
In 2004, American geologists, sent to Afghanistan as part of a broader reconstruction effort, stumbled across an intriguing series of old charts and data at the library of the Afghan Geological Survey in Kabul that hinted at major mineral deposits in the country. They soon learned that the data had been collected by Soviet mining experts during the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan in the 1980s, but cast aside when the Soviets withdrew in 1989.
During the chaos of the 1990s, when Afghanistan was mired in civil war and later ruled by the Taliban, a small group of Afghan geologists protected the charts by taking them home, and returned them to the Geological Survey?s library only after the American invasion and the ouster of the Taliban in 2001.
?There were maps, but the development did not take place, because you had 30 to 35 years of war,? said Ahmad Hujabre, an Afghan engineer who worked for the Ministry of Mines in the 1970s.
Armed with the old Russian charts, the United States Geological Survey began a series of aerial surveys of Afghanistan?s mineral resources in 2006, using advanced gravity and magnetic measuring equipment attached to an old Navy Orion P-3 aircraft that flew over about 70 percent of the country.
The data from those flights was so promising that in 2007, the geologists returned for an even more sophisticated study, using an old British bomber equipped with instruments that offered a three-dimensional profile of mineral deposits below the earth?s surface. It was the most comprehensive geologic survey of Afghanistan ever conducted.
The handful of American geologists who pored over the new data said the results were astonishing.
But the results gathered dust for two more years, ignored by officials in both the American and Afghan governments. In 2009, a Pentagon task force that had created business development programs in Iraq was transferred to Afghanistan, and came upon the geological data. Until then, no one besides the geologists had bothered to look at the information ? and no one had sought to translate the technical data to measure the potential economic value of the mineral deposits.
Soon, the Pentagon business development task force brought in teams of American mining experts to validate the survey?s findings, and then briefed Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates and Mr. Karzai.
So far, the biggest mineral deposits discovered are of iron and copper, and the quantities are large enough to make Afghanistan a major world producer of both, United States officials said. Other finds include large deposits of niobium, a soft metal used in producing superconducting steel, rare earth elements and large gold deposits in Pashtun areas of southern Afghanistan.
Just this month, American geologists working with the Pentagon team have been conducting ground surveys on dry salt lakes in western Afghanistan where they believe there are large deposits of lithium. Pentagon officials said that their initial analysis at one location in Ghazni Province showed the potential for lithium deposits as large of those of Bolivia, which now has the world?s largest known lithium reserves.
For the geologists who are now scouring some of the most remote stretches of Afghanistan to complete the technical studies necessary before the international bidding process is begun, there is a growing sense that they are in the midst of one of the great discoveries of their careers.
?On the ground, it?s very, very, promising,? Mr. Medlin said. ?Actually, it?s pretty amazing.?

There's UFO stories every week, believe me, I look. They just don't matter until it's a major city, these "lights"/"orbs" have been showing up for at least 2 decades and these dark "triangular" shaped ones have also been showing up more and more in the past 15 to 20 years. I think it's interesting how the UFOs have gone from disc shaped to triangular shaped since the birth of UFO sightings/reportings. There was an alleged day light crash of a giant triangular ship out in California, apparently crashed into the side of a mountain sometime around dusk.
People freak out, just wait until they start showing up daily over major cities.

These definitely have nothing whatsoever to do with some marketing campaign. They've been all over the place for many, many decades. The media has just gotten much more friendly about actually reporting them without turning it into some opinionated point and laugh piece. Obviously, some are just mistaken objects such as balloons and such but a lot are something much, much different. A lot are probably just very highly secret 'black projects' which are more often thought to be so for the triangular types. Saw one of those in Delaware a couple years ago. And then there are those which are much, much more questionable that sometimes even have other very weird experiences involved with them. Not assuming anything on those including so much of the bs the media and powers that be try to insist are nothing but weather balloons. Total bs on that line of crap! The research is very extensive with some being quite good while some is just plane full of crap. Definitely makes for some very fun and interesting reading.

I've been thinking that about the fish but more so because of all of that horribly toxic Corexit than the oil. Of course, the oil is pretty bad too but the Corexit is even more toxic.
Though I had suspected the Corexit at first with all of the birds, I then thought differently once I found out that the birds had their insides pulverized. That wouldn't be due to a toxin. That sounds more like some sort of wave action like total sonic annihilation. Maybe from cell phone towers, the HAARP project or possibly some weird electro-magnetic disturbance.
Not sure if the birds and fish are related but the timing would make it seem so. Honestly don't know.
Wouldn't be surprised in the least if either of those corporations from Hell, Monsanto and Halliburton, are somehow involved. Not enough info at this stage to know much else yet though.

In surely the creepiest of the first news stories in 2011 is the Arkansas dead bird phenomenon. On New Year's Eve Day, more than 3,000 dead birds, mostly red-winged blackbirds, were found scattering streets, yards, and rooftops in Beebe, Arkansas, and no one knows why.
Officials are guessing it's weather related, like lightning or high atmosphere hail, but what if it's something worse? Like the all-new bird flu or some awful man-made environmental mess?
Or, and I won't claim to be any sort of Bible expert, what if this is beginning of the end of the world?

as much fun as it is to spin a conspiracy story, all the fish and ocean-related articles i've read (and several land-bird ones as well) have put forth either poison or changing weather patterns as the cause. but not all land birds can be explained so there's still hope for a nepharious government/corporate/military plan there.
i'm with dr. doom on this one: on the whole, the mass kills are symptoms of one very fucked up planet. classic tipping points. you add one more straw - a cold snap, el nina, a toxin that usually wouldn't much affect a healthy population - and crack goes the camel's back.

That's why I left a bit of wiggle room because there are always some who suspect the aliens being the cause for everything. As of yet, have heard only a tiny bit attributed to them by the sorts who are into this stuff. I use to be very much directly involved with MUFON years ago but lost contact with them once I moved into other circles of friends and interests. Thanks for that first link. Not familiar with that site at all but plan to check it out a bit more later. (Only skimmed the article as of yet.)

This is actually old news, or old plans. Heard about this 15 years ago. Bunch of bastards! The Low Jack already does stuff like this as well as EZ Passes. The problem with many conspiracy people is they often have very little idea how the government and/or human nature work. The idea is laughable that there's this vast network of people who are all in complete agreement, have no egos, have no temptation to be honored for their acts, and can keep secret plans that would require extensive planning, budget/money, personnel and execution. And to think that there's some coordinated secret agreement among business, government, military and media is the result of watching a lot of movies, in my opinion.

We've been over and over and over various issues in that other thread and neither of us can be swayed. That's each of our prerogatives, something a few of you refuse to accept. I don't know about Norway specifically, but there are some pretty strident anti-Muslim feelings to be found in Europe. But I hadn't heard anything about the motive, but it seems if that were his goal, that he would not have gone on a shooting rampage, which made it easy to connect him (a known Right Wing Christian Fundamentalist) to the shootings.

I think "Five Guys" is emperical proof that people are just dumb and easily lead. How can you screw up a burger? Even someone with no cooking skills what-so-ever. You get some decent ground beef, a couple slices of cheese, a tomato, an onion, a head of lettuce, a couple fresh rolls, etc. "Five Guys" charges $5+ for that. I maintain that something like pasta or a grilled cheese is harder to successfully make well than a friggin cheeseburger. I mean, Chinese food is popular because it's tough to make on your own. Why is "Five Guys" so popular and highly regarded?

I don't know about other Five Guys but the one near me has all these glowing reviews hanging in the window, but if you look at the review dates they are mostly dated 2005 and earlier, which is before they expanded to a zillion outlets. Unlike some types I am not philosophically opposed to chains, but it's a fact that a manager no matter how well trained is never going to give as much as a shit as the owner, and in a restaurant that really matters. You can see the difference when a local restaurant expands to even one or two more outlets. Five Guys might once have stood apart but at this point it's no different from any other fast food outlet. Maybe slightly better ingredients -- even that's debatable.
The other thing, though is that places can trade on their name forever, because most people are stupid. That is what's keeping Five Guys going. Another good example is Lauriol Plaza -- a great intimate restaurant ithe early 1990s, now 10x its original size, hasn't been special in years, and people still line up.

As far as I'm concerned, Five Guys has the absolute worst hamburger on the planet. Think it might be the excessive grease they use that grossed me out so badly. Had one once and refuse to ever go back regardless of location. I remember feeling sick all night due to that horribly greasy thing.
The spicy fries were good but I'd never bother to go back just for their fries just because I want them to go out of business. At least, stop spreading their garbage all over the place. Unfortunately, they seem to be spreading all over the place like a cancer. UGGGHHH!!!

This is what we're all wondering. It's also why, while I hate to admit it, I agreed with Brian when he said there's much more to come on this. It is a potentially a HUGE cover-up crossing many streams of State College, PA - university, nonprofit and government entity a like.

I watch SportsCenter, I like catching up on games I missed, why not? I like sports. No, I don't do fantasy, because I like 1 team and rooting for 1 team and all the players on my team. ESPN is awesome and so is SportsCenter. I agree the 24/7 talking head aspect of it is absoltuely absurd and completely unnecessary. I also agree that Keyshawn Johnson fucking SUCKED at Wide Receiver and shouldn't fucking judge any other football player EVER. Michael Irving smoked crack. Shannon Sharpe looks like a fucking horse. There's a shit load of "analysts" that don't know dick about shit when it comes to sports and that's why I tune out. Show me highlights, top plays, that's awesome. But seriously, hearing a bunch of idiots talk about unimportant shit to make them seem like "legitimate news" is just silly. Stick with the funny catch phrases and highlights. that's what I like and tune in. So, I agree and disagree.

why is it . . . that a lot, not all, because some are very nice, but a lot, of people that work in tobacco shops in the district . . . are total f-ing a-holes that should be fired for how they sometimes treat customers. or maybe it is just me. maybe they just don't like me. that could be the case, but there has got to be someone else who sees what i see. as soon as i walk in the door, which i am always over the top nice and excited to be back into a tobacco shop, which is rare, there is always that one guy, or group of guys that are just "f you" from the start; they don't like you; they don't want you there; they treat you like they are better than you. i just avoid them and make my purchases of fine cigar or two. is that just me being crazy train again like the nice homeless people who talk to the newspaper boxes?

am i wrong? sometimes i go over the deep end when it comes to gay issues. i like to, and smirk while i do it, consider my self the "gay spike lee." this is what i am wondering if i am wrong about: in my corner of the cornfield, there is this thing happening called a "womenless beauty contest," where guys get together and dress up like women and get judged, all in good fun. now i have to ask . . . why can't it be a mens beauty contest, where the guys are judged on their looks, just like the women's version. why do they have to dress up like women, almost as if making fun of guys who do, for real. drag is no joke. in my neck of the woods, they hate gay people very vocally. this is just another reminder of that. and this is all to support "relay for life."

About 10 years ago I was at the soccer fields in Rockville/Bethesda. I was with the team manager so there was two people who saw this. It was a clear sunny afternoon with not a cloud in the sky. A military type aircraft flew overhead. Not a fighter type, more of an in flight refueling plane. This thing had a dark blue straight line coming from the nose of the plane extending out for a long way in front of it. Think of a single contrail only coming from the nose, but dark blue, not white.
I thought maybe it was just me seeing things but the other bloke I was with mentioned it to me.
I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but it was weird....very weird.

I heard a theory going around for this latest flight that one pilot killed the other, then locked the door and set a descent course and pretended he couldn't get back in the cockpit. Sounds a little convoluted to me... Apparently there's a soft spot in the wall of the bathroom [connected to the cockpit] that you can tear through and get into the cockpit or at least look in and see if there's an obstruction or what's going on.
Fishy stuff.

Because yes, if my life was in danger instead of fleeing to safety I would whip out my cell phone and make videos to prove my life was actually in danger.
