Not with white socks.

Now if the socks were black or grey or brown or anything one might wear with a suit, they would certainly be German.

no.  NEVER socks with sandals.  NEVER.  i don't care what colour.

only acceptable if you are a lady and they are cute lacy frilly socks with heels or something slightly peek/open toe.

otherwise...NEVER.  and ESPECIALLY NOT WITH TEVAS!!!

and it's gross.  i'd like to bring up the fact that 85% of the girls that do this aren't doing it on purpose, they just aren't careful, and gross me out.  as well, most of that 85% suffers from Muffin Top disorder...i.e. wearing jeans that are too tight and a shirt that is too short so when they bend down it's just all sort of nasty.  i don't care what their body is like, i just wish people would take note of that and not bend down and wear thongs when they are wearing tight pants and low jeans and a short shirt.  honestly.

It's sad that we just missed each other in DC.

I'm generally not grossed out by that.  I'm destined to have (and deserve) a litter of cute young girls when we decide to have kids.

Fear not, I'm a good 3,000 miles away now (I'm sure DC has never been the same) and have always subscribed to the half my age plus seven rule of which you're at least a decade away from qualifying.

I'm all of a sudden craving a nice pan pizza and a cold soda pop.

pizza hut from the past, ruled the world.  since they changed the pan pizza and overhauled the menu / buffet . . . not so much any.more.  Alas, one does indeed still hold down the way it used to be, in Woodstock, VA.  Small town Americana at it's finest.

Somewhere there is a pizza thread that declares Dominos the clear winner of the current pizza battles.

The pan from there is pretty amazing TBH.

Khaki, pleated cargos FTW! I saw hutch in a pair a few summers ago.

Nothing wrong with cargo shorts, as long as they don't have pleats.
Title: Re: crimes against fashion
Post by: evilizac on July 28, 2021, 12:39:25 pm
What about cargo pants vs. cargo shorts?
Are cargo pants more respectable? Is it that hippie bros gave cargo shorts a bad rap?
With modern technology and adult responsibilities, I find myself requiring a jacket in all weather to accommodate the phone(s) and the earbuds and the wallet and keys and other flotsam that I may randomly pick up, or "need". I think overloading my jacket is giving me back/posture problems.
I don't really do shorts and I don't want to give people the idea that I might be outfitted for any activity outside of napping or eating.
Title: Re: crimes against fashion
Post by: Space Freely on July 28, 2021, 12:42:48 pm
I definitely do shorts because:

1. I have nice legs.
2. It's fucking hot outside.

I may have owned cargo pants as part of my punk rock uniform in the 80's, but haven't worn them since.

I haven't worn shorts casually since puberty (thanks hairy Ashkenazi heritage).
I wear them for purpose (generally swimming). My wife feels bad for my pale, pale legs.
I theory, I think shorts denote fun, maybe I just don't like fun.
Title: Re: crimes against fashion

The reality is people wear shorts cause they are comfy but they look like shit but people can’t accept that … a guy wearing shorts, a shirt and flip flops…Yeah that’s classy..quite the fashion statement

I just don’t get shorts…kind of like sunglasses

I am just not a summer dude… wake me up in September

Nobody should feel offended..99% of guys dress like shit..you’re in great company

Women are the ones that dress nice..compare the cut on a women’s t shirt to a man’s! Much nicer looking..a man’s shirt is usually a boring straight cut..kind of drapes on you like a shower curtain with a hole for the head or something..a woman’s shirt fits the body… similar thing with men’s pants…most of the time a boring straight cut… I foresee a day when this will change but for now your average man dresses like a slob

Damn, all of my childhood parachute pants were made by my mom. I didn't realize that she would be sitting on a 2021 goldmine.
If you're wondering (Why would you be wondering?), yes she did also make matching sleeveless t-shirts to pull together the ensemble.

Damn, all of my childhood parachute pants were made by my mom. I didn't realize that she would be sitting on a 2021 goldmine.
If you're wondering (Why would you be wondering?), yes she did also make matching sleeveless t-shirts to pull together the ensemble.

It's not the parachute pants I wish I had kept, but those first and second gen Air Jordan's on the other hand....

I remember 15+ years ago saying that i was going to make homemade concert t-shirts for my future kid(s) someday. I still get ribbed for that. I've never made a concert t-shirt So props to your mom for the effort.

Just now seeing this. 4 four $34 on Amazon. I buy about 95% of my clothing used, but two things I won't skimp on: underwear and a good haircut.

If I've learned anything, I've learned that Space doesn't buy used underwear...phew, was not really sure. I'm glad he clarified that

wonder how he defines 'Good'
Could you imagine space paying $50 for a haircut, I don't think he's paid that much for a concert ticket

A concert lasts two hours, a haircut lasts six months.

most people get them every 4-8 weeks

IMO concert experiences can last a lifetime

Space is probably a pet flowbee guy.  For his hair and the dog's hair.  A flowbee he bought at a yard sale 20 years ago.
