Title: Being "That Guy"
Post by: you be betty on January 09, 2006, 09:18:00 pm
So, I have a serious question.

To what degree of badness is it when people (not extra-ordinarily tall, but between average-tall height) who stand in the front wear hats at shows?

And, will they be forgiven, if the hat is really cute?

Being thatguy would make a good reality TV program.

I can't speak for ThatGuy nor the club but I think the hat person would have to be more concerned about those standing behind them. Even if some frutstrated patron ended up getting kicked out, the hat might not make it out in the same condition that it came in.

On a personal level, I think it's rude to wear big view obstructing hats into places like theatres and concert venues. Or, at least, keeping them on during a performance. Kind of like those boars who keep their cell phones on loud rings and/or hold private conversations as though they are meant to be shared with everyone in the room. Just my opinion.

The one exception about wearing the hat all night would be if that person stayed in the very last row or way in the back so to guarantee that no one would have to suffer from neck wrench.

i was always taught to take my hat off when i was indoors anyway.  and i usually do.  of course, i mostly always wear a knit hat (yes, a touque) so its not really sticking up or anything!

Geez, I wish my life was like betty's, so all I had to worry about was people wearing hats inside clubs.

What about people who gel their hair way the fuck up? Should they be forced to the back row.

Just tap them on the shoulder and ask them to move...if they don't you can,

 a) make an issue out of it
 b) just find somewhere else to stand

I've always been able to find a decent viewing spot at the club, even at sold out shows that tall people were at.

No, chill.  I have this awesome hunting hat that I have been wearing like crazy, but I was a bit concerned about whether it would be rude or not to wear it and stand near the front at a concert.  I know that sometimes when people wear hats and stand in front at shows it has been an annoyance, but I wasn't sure if that was just me being neurotic; or if it has bugged others, too.

There's the other exception too. Country Music shows. Do you think they'd have a hat check at these shows, or don't sell as many tickets so the rim around all the hats won't get bumped? Just curious  :)

 There's nothing wrong with spiked up hair either : <img src="http://www.deep6.com/icon/scared.gif" alt=" - " />

Mind Cage: Icon of the week!!!   :D

I tell ya, people in hats annoy me regardless.  Unless you're wearing something to keep your head warm, wearing your hat is all about putting on a pose.

Bonus points if the offending hat reeks of farts!

What if you're someone with ugly hair, like ggw? Seems it would be a good thing to wear hats. I know I'd like to see hats on more people's heads sometimes for this reason.

If you were in front of me at a show with a big hat on, I would hate you.  I suggest leaving it at home or checking it before the show starts.

Good point, but if betty is there first and you shove your way up front, then you become an IGNORANT FUCKER" and I have seen this happen many, many times at the club.
